Wow, that was the most fun I've had with completely random puzzles in a long time.
Just when the artwork hits a new low, you redeem it with something like the disco sequence.
This game certainly keeps you on your toes.

May I suggest some more in-game hints for the puzzles?
For example

Spoiler

Some text on the altar to explain why to pour the milk in the hole.
I don't know how anyone would ever think to pick up the plank when standing on it. Why not just jump in the water in the first place? Ingenious? No. Ridiculous? Mmm.
etc for every puzzle

Really, this game would be much more entertaining if it was much less frustrating.
I had to look up the solutions to nearly everything in this thread.

Laugh out loud funny at times.

Oh, the division...

[EDIT] Oops, meant to post this in the Announcements thread.

Heh, that'll work well with an emulator...

True.
I guess I still don't see the point though. I don't see an XBox360 or IBM BladeServer port any time soon :)

(Kind of) back on topic:
I think opening up AGS to Mac users (without them having to pay for Virtual PC) would be beneficial to the community. After all, Mac users are supposedly more artistic than PC users.

This isn't an appeal to Chris to do it, mind you. I'm of the opinion that if someone volunteers, it should be considered. I realise that releasing the source code is a sensitive issue. Obviously there would be obligations on the part of the volunteer - confidentiality, quality, support, etc...

...go through the whole thing again in a couple of years? :/

Apparently that's the idea - they want to change popes every 10 years or so, so as not to have the same guy for 20-30 years.

Macs COME WITH excellent free compilers these days.
I would imagine that the endian issue is trivial compared to most problems one would encounter, eg missing libraries.
PS The XBox does not have a PPC in it. It's an Intel chip. (Not exactly a Pentium.)

Game's out tomorrow!
On the PC, $30 = £15.75. Bargain!

In the US, if you preorder with an EB store you get a pack of Psychonauts playing cards. I'm getting me down there and getting me some this lunchtime.
Gamestop may still have t-shirts too...

Woot!

Yeah, the backgrounds are a little too scrappy and collage-y to appeal to me. (I'm not a fan of Dave McKean's work - not that I'm comparing this to that, because it's not in the same league.)
Also, the main character's walk cycle is awful - very rigid. And SLOW.

The character portraits (next to the dialog) are great.
And I do like what I've played of the game so far.

Haven't seen it before.
Looks awesome! Thanks for the link.
Torrenting...

Just got around to playing this.
Fabulous graphics - I love how the characters distort as they animate!
Script is lowbrow - just how I like it. Reminded me of a Finbarr Saunders strip.
Some nice puzzles - the stroking off just started and I'm not sure what to do.
Great work!

ps Thanks Scuthbert - I wasted hours on that anagram :)

Hey, I need 3d characters, but AGS doesn't support them.
I'm putting my game on hold until this oversight is corrected. :P

General Discussion / Re: InC's TC: A tablet

I've got a Graphire sitting here, hardly used.
It was great when it worked but I installed some of the software that came with it and it broke the pressure sensitivity in Photoshop. Uninstalling then broke the tablet-relative movement.
I just haven't had the will to uninstall and reinstall everything. I'm afraid it'll never work again.
:P

Have you read "angry white pyjamas"?
link to it on Amazon
Highly recommended, despite the terrible tag line they put on the American release.

Damn n00bs :=
#2536
That's a shame.
I'm reading the thread that I think you're referring to in your news post (Where are the adventure gamers?), and it seems like a rash decision to close TCN because of it.

Maybe you just need some time apart.

Only took you 6 hours :)

Critics' Lounge / Re: Arg! Comics!

I thought the voice coming from the thick rolling clouds in the sketches added a lot to the foreboding presence of Bob. Meh.

I have to agree with stuh.
This version looks like four images badly photoshopped together.
- the sky is smudged towards the horizon
- there's a dark border around the mountains
- the trees look out of place - the old ones suited much better
- the foreground takes up over half the image but has no distinguishing features
- the whole thing is too symmetrical

Sorry about the negativeness; it's just that the original was sooooo much better.

Lettering:
The standard comic font doesn't suit the artwork at all...
Could you make a font out of some of the more legible handwritten letters (like BOB + PETE, END) and use that instead?
I'd prefer to struggle to read it than read it with the dull font.

Artwork:
It's lost a little energy being tablet drawn, but overall I think it's an improvement.
I'd like to see what Bob's clouds look like.

Looking good!
