General Discussion / Re: Sounds! Where?

That "sounds similar to" search on findsounds.com is interesting... thanks!

A better way of writing an infinite loop is:
Code: ags

while (true)
{
  blah blah
}

I meant you'd spelt those words wrong in the text describing Egg Mountain.
As for the perspective, the eyes should look like circles wrapped around an egg, not placed on a flat plane.
Like so:

There's a complete series book?
Does that mean it's all over? :'(

[EDIT] Thanks for the info, Oz.

I love it.
Great weathered and folded effect.
You could do with some proofreading though (it's [twice], reseblance, beleive).
And why do the mountain's eyes change shape?

One good thing about this is the awesomeness of the parody.
Towards the end I had tears in my eyes.

[EDIT] Doh! Just noticed page two. Never mind.

Okay, after a slew of layman's critiques, here are some suggestions from a fellow 3D artist.

Jeez, I hope that's a joke!

Did you give him a Ben Jordan?

Pretty cool!
Reminded me a lot of 5/7DAS, but without the impossible puzzles.
I got 107 points - no secret bonus?

Thanks!

Heh.
I downloaded Microsoft Natural Voice Reader - and the first sample sounds a lot like Laverne!
177k Zip
You can't get this "quality" without paying for the enterprise version.

Hmm, if you go to nextup.com, you'll see that each voice takes up 200-300Mb. So not exactly a  space saving then, unless you've got more than 10 hours or so of recorded dialog.

ukresistance is a great site.
It's not exactly parody, but it obviously doesn't take itself too seriously.
I think they hit a lot of right notes with that article - for example the second paragraph.

•    Ed Wood (1994): Haven't seen it.

It's awesome.
I went to see it with a couple of friends and one of them didn't know or realise Ed Wood was a real person. That just made it better!

Code: ags

  int walk x = Random (141) + 20; // since 140 would give a maximum of 159, not 160

Actually Random(n) gives a random integer in the inclusive range [0..n].
e.g., Random(3) may return 0, 1, 2, or 3.
Hence Gil's code.

It seems to be a common technique.
I was looking on google for a cabin for my game and lo and behold, the first image was the interior of the hut from Pirate Fry 3. :=

You need to unzip it into the directory that AGS is in.
Then when running AGS, use the menus to add the plugin to the loaded list.
Game -> Plugin Manager... -> [check the box next to OtherRoom]

Woo!
I love Bone!
It's a clever choice too because the artwork is solid but "sparse" which should save modelling and texturing time.

My biggest fear about this is the voice acting. Sam and Max was pretty good but this is (a little) more serious at times.
That, and that they're doing a game per book. Each book was about 200 pages but you can read them in an hour or two easily. Either that means fast episodes (uh-oh) or as Ozwalled suggests a lot of fill-in detail. And with a team of 10 people that means small games or lots of outsourcing.

Exciting news for adventure games! Good luck TellTale!

I hadn't seen that "Telltale Texas Hold-em" game before either. Huh. Looks nice. If you're into that sort of thing...

Did you consider a "Production Gallery" button on the title screen that is enabled when the game is beaten? Then you could present the behind the scenes images interactively.
Some commercial games do this.
You could also have something like Indy Quotient points that add up to unlock images in the gallery.
