Thanks for the nice words.
Wanted to let people know that I'm most likely entering the sequel in MAGS, because it gives me a good reason to persist.

I also plan on releasing a more cleaned up version of this one with maybe a bit more exposition as well.

The 'what's your name' riddle in Cryptic... ugh.

Woah! Updates!

James at his abandoned grandparents' house.

Not going to explain this one. Have fun looking at it I suppose.

Also, I think this will be entered in this month's MAGS, as it has given me the kick in the behind I really need to get working on it seriously.

Yay! Loved the first. Will play soon and return some feedback. :D

Edit -
Okay played a bit. It was kind of strange but not bad for a first game. The dialogue seemed kind of off, and sometimes things were in quotes and sometimes they weren't, which also seemed odd.

This looks like it will kick ass. I like the noir look, especially the office in the first scene, really nostalgic looking. I think the goats may make a bit more sense in context. In fact, I know they do.  ;)

A few comments:

1.) I really wish

we had gotten to know everyone before it started. The ending wasn't that sad because we didn't really know them. It felt like reading about it in a newspaper. I was genuinely sad, but I feel it would have been much more powerful if we had seen, for example, (or at least heard of) some specific examples of the good/bad times both had been through together.

2.) The puzzles were pretty decent, although some had me stuck for a bit, specifically the ones with animals.

3.)Art, as already mentioned, was excellent.

4.) Overall it was touching and certainly worth the play-through. Good job :D

I know this is offtopic but I'm too damn curious, WHAT is that screenshot from? O_O

Pretty good game all things considered, especially for your first one.

One thing bothers me:
Spoiler
It seems this guy didn't really learn his lesson till' the end...and it was too late in one ending! In the other, he didn't even say 'gosh, I'm sorry' or anything. I would have liked it better if he realized what she had said and then HE decided to call HER rather than the other way around, I just feel the endings would have made more sense that way, but I always rant about the stupidest little things. :P

Do you think that AGS games might be able to be run from a browser?
Probably. http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=40264.0

AHHHH I've been waiting for this one!

Will try soon, feeling a bit sick at the moment, I'll leave some comments when I'm done. :D

Errrr. Wow :P

In my latest game, I was given 2 cups by the panel which is "A reasonable game, worth a try."

Why is this offensive?

Not to mention that on the new site, the players' cup rating is in view as well as the panel's. This is how it is:

Some people really liked my game, while others didn't. Although I was aiming for a surreal environment, the puzzles were just too outlandish. However, I was voted up a lot in atmosphere.

Now, the panel does its job, it decides based on certain criteria just how well the game works in ALL aspects of the adventure game genre. In this sense, we were given 2 cups overall.
Now, when a player comes along and says "Well, I really didn't like X about this game, but I LOVED Y"! They generally rate the overall experience up, resulting in a higher player rating, which makes you look good as well.

So: as long as your players are happy...what's it matter? :P

So, as some of you may or may not know, I love to play chess. I try to play at LEAST two games per day.

Anyways, someone directed me to http://www.instantchess.com/
where you can randomly be paired up with opponents at once.

Now, look at the logo next to 'instantchess.com'

RELEASE THIS NOW!!!! O_O
This looks incredible! I can't wait to play.

Okay, well it's certainly better than the first. I can't help but feel like you still need to REALLY slow down and review for spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

The game itself is kinda quirky and fun in its own way, which is good, but there were still some odd moments, for sure. It's simple enough but sometimes I feel like I could have used a bit more direction.

In any case, yeah, better than the first for sure, I like the title music quite a bit.

Excellent! Best of luck and congratulations :D

Just made a quick video about what's going on with this. Watch it if you truly have nothing better to do. :)

I found The Orange Man strangely thought provoking.

GAH!!!! I forgot to mention that one! That easily makes my list of favorites as well.

Personally I download games before they're rated.

As for the original question, while it's not a one cup game since it hasn't been rated yet (but it would surprise me if it scored more than one), I did have 2-3 solid hours of fun with All The Magical Things.

I typically do as well, but I mean, based on what they're rated later.
