Just wanted to show you something really quickly. I know it seems like too much of a pain to switch to low res now, but,I mean....

This is a picture of Room#1 in my training game from 2 years ago:

And this is the re-make of it I'm currently kicking around the idea of making into a full game:

So...I dunno. I know your game isn't nearly the extreme like this is, but I really think the switch would help.

Commercial Games never upset me. I don't mind paying if the game is good and the price is reasonable. I think Downfall is a good example. 10 dollars and a game that kicks the crap out of games you could find at, say, a Best Buy in the $10 value games section...

This looks amazing, and as long as the price isn't sky-high, count me in.

Woops. You're right. I swapped them.

Let me add that to the list of things that need work on this walkcycle...  :-[

Speaking of that, I'm concerned with how his legs move too.

I've been getting a ton of help from pals on IRC (especially JimBob) but I'm just having one heck of an awful time trying to animate the poor guy! I've tried so many times but it just isn't working out. Here's the only two frames I've got.

Can anyone give advice or help?

This is nice, although it kind of missed the point of hourgame documentary, as in it dealt with the actual making of the game for about 10% of the whole movie. Not that the rest wasn't interesting or nice, just was kind of surprised. Looking forward to more.
The voice wasn't bad btw.  :)

Yeah, I know it wasn't much of a documentary :P (Hence the 'not quite').

Next time I make something AGS related I'll be sure to include a lot more AGS.

Also, if you mean my voice, thanks! :P

Not bad at all!
I made some VERY quick edits, and I am by no means a pro but here's what I come up with.

You say he is geeky, but he had some REALLY broad shoulders and very big broad arms as well!
I tried to slim him up a bit and pronounced his facial features. IMO he still has a rather large torso.

Just my take on your character, though. Feel free to take it or ignore it. :P

Heh good job. Hour games are a lot of fun, and sometimes allow you to learn new things or practice the little things, such as scripting dialogue etc.
I haven't played the games yet, but I might get round to it later on.

More AGS related videos? I might get round to film something involving AGS but I am pretty lazy  ;)

Thanks.
More AGS videos for sure. I'm thinking about doing video reviews, etc.

Also, thanks bulbapuck :D

Not too shabby. Only input I can give is to make the actual tea part of the teabag a little more...erm. I don't know how to put it.

Grainy?

My point is, the tea is just one solid color, and I think it should be mixed up a bit to show texture.

Ah, okay. I have gimp. I'll try it out later. Thanks :)

I decided to finally use my camcorder from Christmas!

It's a quick video about how I made my first hourgame. It was a lot more fun than I thought it might be.

Video is here if you want to see it: http://domithan.com/?page_id=84

Blue, let me start by saying that this paint-over is fantastic. I love it!
I have some questions:
1.) You said you removed all color. How did you decide on what shade of gray to give each wall, etc? Is there an easy way to do this (just clicking a black and white filter?), or do you just have to kind of 'feel' for it?

2.)How did you accomplish the blue tone?

Here is my most recent attempt, improved with great thanks to the fellas on IRC!

Done! It's god awful, but if you want it, here it is:

I might just give this a shot. Tomorrow at 2 for me I think? New york time. Also, to make sure I have this right, the game can be about anything for this first one of the year?

Dude, you must have some serious monitor problems :/

I do keep it very bright, but in fullscreen it looks fine on any computer I've tried. However, I guess fullscreen shouldn't be manditory...

A very good point...
I also failed to realize if I gave modest color to everything in the room, the walls would certainly be included.
I'll toy with it a bit then re-post later.

I get what you're all saying, but that's not what I'm going for. When the moon is out and the blinds are wide open, you can see things. Not well, but you can see them. This, I think, is a big difference from a game such as Trilby's Notes, since it is raining and one could assume it is also very cloudy. The lack of light makes it more difficult to see colors, sure. But if there's SOME light, it's possible. What I've tried to do is bring those colors a lot closer to the color black to pull off the effect. Later on there will be clouds in the sky, and perhaps then would be a more suitable time for the trilby's notes-esque silhouette style.

I've made a few edits of my own.

The light from the window probably needs work, and I've just started to add books as an example of what I plan to make for the whole shelf.

This may sound like a stupid question, but when you select each inventory item in the AGS editor, do they all appear properly? Or are some sprites missing?

Maybe this is redundant, but make sure each inventory item has been given the proper view as well.

Hey, congrats! I'll try to make the next game a bit more world-wide friendly.
