AGS has no emulator function.

I know that the good ol' Dos interface can be reluctant at first sight but read carefully the help of DosBox in order to :

1) mount a c: drive in a folder you created on your actual c:\ 
(use a short Capitalized name, it's faster)

2) mount a disk drive as your actual disk drive

3) start the game install as usual and select soundblaster as your sound deviceS

It should works without huge problem.

Avira is pretty good and reliable. And it's LITE. My compter double its speed after I removed Norton and switch to Avira.

The bad news it's that you'll going to received a pop-up windows one in a while (mostly during updates). But honest. It worths it.

At least there's Avast and AVG but I always had issues with them. Maybe that's just a badluck.

Like G-Goth said, intelligent viruses can play it that way. So take care when transferring your file to your new machine. System Backup IS a .exe too and if it's the olny one who works that's a very *bad* sign.

When you'll have time or need to transfert your files / pix / prOn, run on boot all the viruses scan you can. Nuke everything useless - all those free codec sh** / new torrent you may while on F8-mode and Nuke - Nuke - Nuke.

It's bad you needed a new machine olny for this.

Depending on the nature of your project, Many standard cogs n' wheels from any 80's alarm clocks will looks steampunk if you paint them with bronze / gold colors. Just keep the most fashionable ones for the top.

An other way is just to add extra victorianish details / sculps some holes into plastic gears before spray them with an airbrush /spray can. Like you wrote, genuine cogs are expensive. Replica too. Show us the pix, when it's done.
