Gotta say though, Spiderman was emo from the beginning. Even in the first few years he had captions like "The complex, anguished teenager Peter Parker".

I guess Spiderman is the end point towards which all superheros move to, which why we have Batman beginning and Superman in Smallville, as well as getting the likes of Buffy.

but hey, check out Supes.

It was always there [image now available on shirts, BUY BUY BUY AUD $15]

We're actually fortunate that Batman post crisis didn't end up as Miller's ideal chracter.

Bruce Wayne is a ninja whose samurai father and prostitute mother were murdered by a ninja prostitute junkie when he was 8.

With the aid of his samurai butler he fights crime as a ninja bat figure to scare criminals. Common enemies include ninjas and prostitutes.

Frequent enemies include the pale faced ninja joker and his prostitute Harley Quinn, his sometimes love interest Selina "I'm a prostitute" Kyle, or catwoman, and Poison Ivy, an eco terrorist prostitute.

Ninja. Prostitute. Ninja. Ninja. Ninja. Prostitute.

Don't get me wrong, Miller can do a good thing or two, he just does it over and over and over and over

The camera work in the first 20-30 minutes is adorable.

Also, was it hard to watch with ad breaks?

I'm not sure how Adam West was doing self mockery when his Batman was meant to be a joke in the dirst place...

The original Batman was dark for all of 3 months. Then came 35 years of campy fun, then Miller did to him the same thing as he did to Daredevil...and every other single character he has written.

All campy, dark and gothic Batmans are equally valid, I can't understand why some people prefer one to the other. Suffice it to say that the Schumacher films sucked, as did 99% of the comics [read the alleged "Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told"].

I think it's a suspicious root taking Gotham down a "realistic" road though. It's the home of a guy that dresses like a Bat to scare criminals. He fights people who look like clowns and dress like screcrows and cats.

I don't live in Chicago but we can use our imagination right fellahs?

scroll down to SEGATA SANSHIRO at the bottom.

These ads make up for every possible bad game ad in existence, notably the bomberman, Soccer RPG and final advertisments.

I'll also mention that I don't like the fact that the BBC now covers it's sets with crappy neon CGI rather than the fog from dry ice.

From what I've seen of the new series [and yes, it is shown outside the UK] they've gone back to the same vein of balanced camp and seriousness that existed before that crappy 90's movie that tried to be completely serious.

That crappy movie that was crap. For christ's sake, he travels through time and space in a Police Box, don't descend into self parody, but you're allowed a snigger here and there.

And I hope to god that the Red Dwarf film doesn't get funding. The last few series were eye ball tearing outly horrible, and more so if compared to the earlier seasons. Rob Grant is evidently far funnier than Doug Naylor, especially when you compare the independent sequels to Better Than Life they each wrote. Grants was nasty with limited numbers of characters [hence more character humour] and hilarious, like the earlier seasons. Naylor's was "hAHaHAH PENIS!!!!!! GIMP!!!! LOTS OF THEM, KOCHANSKI PENIS SEX OMG!"

and that is a COMPLETELY accurate recreation.

I have Gaim running constantly, and if it's on the MSN network, I'm sure it would be taking the same bandwidth.

And on your figures, that should be roughly 20-30 mb a day.

yet even with it running full time on at least one computer out of 5 on which the bandwidth is being measured, I can see days in the history my ISP has given me of 12 mb downloads and 3 mb uploads. Days where at least 5 people have been using the internet.

Is Gaim heavensent, I don't believe so.

"The protest came as a new Morgan poll found only 51 per cent of Australians believe Corby is not guilty. An increasing number - 21 per cent - believe she is guilty while 28 per cent remain undecided."

hey! Guess who the smartest 28 per cent are

The best and most relevant part of that Guardian article was the following.

"When George Lucas Sr asked his son to join him in the art-supply business, George Jr said, "Dad, today you're going to do exactly what you did yesterday, and tomorrow the same. This is your life and you love it. But I only want to do something once." Discuss."

You know that riddle about a man going to a town with two barbers, one with a bad haricut and one with a good haircut, so he goes to the former.

Well she's a beauty student.

The Pound is perennially over valued because of the use of inflation targeting by the reserve bank [they rise interest rates to stop inflation since they determine that as the main role of official interest rates] and subsequently demand amongst speculators and lenders for UK currency is always high, and the Pound is exchanged at a price which is higher than would be expected.

Thus, even if prices relative to UK wages remain low, they will appear expensive to foreigners, just like American goods appear very cheap to most countries now.

It's worth noting that the Big Mac Index has the Euro further overpriced however.

Make her a scrawny Asian looking bloke and put her on death row in Vietnam.

Or make her a bloke with a beard and send her to Guantanamo Bay, and everyone will forget it in favour of the news reports detaling the post Miss Universe life of Jennifer Hawkins.
