Well, take heart in that hair loss is only associated with cancer because it's a side effect of chemotherapy rather than a symptom.

How about this then. Peter is one of Jesus' mates, yet when he gets to the kingdom of eternal bliss and rest, the poor bugger still has to work.

General Discussion / Re: Summing up Britain

I think the wierd perception of distance relates to the fact that living in a tiny country where it nonetheless takes 2 hours to get to the next town, what a Brit considers to be a long way seems quite short to those in more land abundant homelands.

Broadcasting no, since an television picking up the signal doesn't reduce the amount of signal around in the air.

And cable isn't broadcasting, since it uses a cable, but since most have the machines to determine which channels you have and haven't paid for, they could put monitoring equipment in there. But then, since you pay for cable, the ratings aren't as important since they're not making as much revenue off advertising.

Another company started producing rival ratings to ACNielson here called OzTam or something [these businesses exist for the purpose of advertisers incidently, so they can determine the price of broadcast time in a certain show], and every 15 minutes or so they required the viewer to press a button to show they were actually there watching.

Also, you might note how many newspapers like to give away free copies at festivals or sporting events, or give subsriptions to schools for $5 for the year and the like. Even if 90% of these papers aren't read, they go into the circulation figures, which determine advertising prices.

Bottom line is that alot of these ratings mainly screw over advertisers who don't deserve sympathy, so don't worry, unless you're a fanboy to a show which isn't doing well or soemthing.

The single worst NSW team line up ever named.

Strongest Queensland lineup I've seen in years.

Blues played ordinary, Queensland played terrible. If Origin is dying, it's down to canetoad mediocrity.

Coincidently, my (Osakan) mistress attended UNL for 18 months. After a diversion here she decided to stay because of our interesting features like hills and plants other than corn.

The implication is that the true reveal would be in the next chapter, but it never was, just more pronunciations of WHAT THE GRAIL REALLY IS, which would take another 6 chapters to get to, when comic books and computer games meant you already knew.

It involved making characters say they had deduced something, or have something revealed at the end of each chapter but...

It used some simple tools to make sure it was a page turner. One of the more notable was amongst the most annoying.

Why spend all that time drinking soft drink when Lincoln is so fascinating?

China's firewalls are quite simple to avoid with proxies, the only way it has any effectiveness is because of the staggering political apathy of the Chinese people.

I guess the film producers simply like to take the most derivative game plots to make films of, like Resident Evil, Tomb Raider and now this.

Not that it matters that they were derivative plots as games, since they were fun to play as games, but in a film?

The only Australian sketch show named after a Surname I can think of was the Micallef P(are)ogram(me).

--edit-- Thanks txt editor! [the first brackets are the letter "R", the first season being The Micallef Program, then the Programme, then the Pogram.]

Which was funny when I first watched it.

They should be tougher? It's a marketing exposition, do you think they'll get better press from mainstream media or bloggers and shop clerks who are dazzled by the "dream" of getting into E3?

It's like having hundreds of Harrry Knowleses running around spruiking your product because you threw them a bone, especially since so much of the gaming market relies on internet goss for purchasing and internet media regarding games is depressingly uncritical of major companies.

It's simply good marketing.
