I live in a 4 bed semi with another guy, he charges me £240 per month. With no savings, going into a 9-5 job you will struggle for the first 2 months.

I would suggest you go to www.gumtree.com, click on the area you want (i guess that would be oxford). Easyroommate.co.uk is good as well, probably better.

Anyway goodluck mate.

General Discussion / Re: Moving to London

Hello,

I guess it's time to divulge my words of wisdom...

Firstly, unless you manage to score a kickass job, I wouldn't think about london.

A 2 bed flat in london for £1000 p/month. The same in Milton Keynes, only a 30-46 minute train journey, you could get the same for £550-£600. There are alot of jobs in MK and the surrounding area. The infrastructure is far better than anywhere in the UK i know of when it comes to schools, shops and facilities. It is easy to navigate. The only downside is there is very little character, but there are still proper english villages very close by.

I live about 20 mins from milton keynes, but i work there.

I dunno really what else to say.

I found it easy to adjust to life in the UK, once i had made friends. I love it here.

I think it's a great scam. Anyone who donates, deserves to lose their money. Although at least in their own little place, they blieve they are helping someone. Fantastic.

I saw M0DS and CJ kissing in spain. After that, no one knows what happened, although I heard sex-like noises coming from the tent area.

But if M0DS was carrying CJ love-child, he would boast. Just like he boasted about kissing 5 people in a night, all of which were guys. But we never discuss what went on at the Rover's Return, although, you can see it on ITV wednesday week. A climatic (in more ways than one!!!) episode of Corrie.

The Russians are still pretty much the same as they were as the Soviet Union. They are not as friendly as they make themselves out to be...

The King's Quest 9 demo, or should I say 'The silver Lining' is quite impressive, if not cruelly short. Potential. Very big massive potential. 3D yes, but very familiar.

I agree with Dave. Catagories are the way forward really.

Although, I'm not suprised it is starting to die out. And unfortunatly, some of the best RON games will never be released. Or Completed I should say.

Although, a tale first if I may. A long long time ago, on forums they called dosuser, a relativly unknown chap proposed an idea. It was a SOAP OPERA. But for games. The idea was, why not create a 'setting', one which could be easily expanded and updated. One which characters could be brought in with ease. One which characters could be sent to prison, murdered by another or move to Queensland. (neighbours reference for CJ)
A continuuing storyline, sometimes sub-plots. But then Yahtzee invaded the thread, stole the idea, and turned it into RON. Nice idea, but the continuing storyline part of the idea never made it through.

Episodic gaming long before telltale even thought of the idea. In the beginning, It was a testing-ground for some of AGS's brightest stars. It still may be, but few quality games have been released in the past three years,as opposed to the first few, in which the best games were made.

Anyway, No-one wants RON to die. If you love it so much, make a short game! Keep the dream alive. Although I can talk....

yes I can....

hehehe....

There was a Ron2.0 idea that was being thrown around a few years ago. I can't remember who it was, but I was involved with the creativity process, but it never really got off the ground. Sylpher might have been involved. CLeks also might have been involved... but i cant remember. It was set in space, on some kind of space ship, which had a town. I think...

Yeah, just that we're a year behind (at the least) on american shows.

I'm not going to avoid discussions with non-Dutchies about current events in shows we like just because of this. Screw that, I'm downloading it :p

Ooh, Doctor Who S3E1 is done downloading! (okay, so, I can watch that directly as I get BBC, but I couldn't watch it due to work :P)

To be honest, I have no problems about downloading BBC shows. I pay a license fee. I should be able to download it for free! I just so happen to always be working when it's on.

General Discussion / Re: Linux?

I'd prefer an OS that runs pretty much everything. SO Vista is out. Stick with XP until backwards compatiblity issues are sorted out in vista. Linux has a fine array of free software packages, but Games are pretty much out. Well not really... I use vista. There are only a few programs which dont work properly for me, and they are illegal...

Some scattered clothes perhaps. the occupant doesn't seem to have a place to put clothes or clean himself... or take a poo.

Hmm, looking very unlikely i will finish this on time.

Oh this game is evil. This is by far the most original game i have played for years. The concept is so simple yet so brilliant. You are certainly on to a winner here.

It is in a similar vein to lemmings yet even more simple. This is a must have game. I am amazed at what you have achieved. Kudos to you.

It is infuriating, yet a pleasure. I love it and can't wait for the full game. This is the kind of game which could sell millions. As mentioned before, the graphics, music, sound, everything is perfect.

I hate you for making a near perfect game. But I love you for making it.

Advanced Technical Forum / Crossword
Sat 17/03/2007 01:53:06
Hi,
I've got an idea in my head about creating an adventure game, where all the puzzles involve a kind of crosswordy kind of system.

Technical requirements:

A crossword, in which you can input the correct letters. Incorrect letters will not be marked as incorrect. It just won't allow you finish the game. Correct solutions will produce feedback (maybe, not sure about this one... after all, newspaper crosswords don't).

The main idea at the end of the game is to finish the crossword and save the day by using your powers of crossword solvery. Say you talk to someone, they give you a 'cryptic conundrum', which in turn, if you solve it, you recieve a cryptic clue to one of the crossword words. Sometimes you may get a 'bonus letter' added to the crossword screen.

Fair enough. Good idea you say. Interesting. Different.

Logistically, how would one go about implementing such a system. I am self admittedly not very adept with ags scripting, I do know the crossword would be a GUI box, with text input boxes. Issues arise such as only being able to input one letter into each text box. Getting ags to recognise that the correct solution to each number has been inputted. Would it be easier to click on a button and input the whole word? When you have letters in a word (from other solutions), would these be displayed in the input box.

I'm really just asking for ideas and possibly solutions from those who's understanding of ags scripting is far more advanced than mine. Thanks...
