320x200 is not a square resolution, AGS allows you to use 320x200 with widescreen, which is recommended if you want to use 320x240. Otherwise, in a proper fullscreen resolution, the pixels will be streched vertically, which looks naff nowadays. Current resolutions use square pixels, oldschool dos resolutions were silly.

So i'd recommend for a low res game, use 320x240 or 320x200 with widescreen. And use a background as a title screen, not a sprite.

The bobby (english policeman) looks out of date when it comes to his uniform.

Most are dressed like this nowadays:

or without the jacket, and a white short sleeved shirt , tie and black stab vest.

ugh, South African, or Africanns is just an amalgam of Dutch and German, with some english thrown in for good measure.. not a real african language... but if you want translations to affricanns, i live with a bunch of saffas...

Name: Ryan P Keepence, AKA, Layabout, Lay, Captain Urinal, Pirate Jack, Dickhead...

Age: 24

Female/male: Male.

1. How long have you been involved in the AGS community?
I joined Febuary 4th 2000 to the ezboard forums. Probably lurked for a bit before then.

2. Why did you get involved in AGS?
My first experiences with PC games were the Kings Quest series, when I was about 8. Since then, I've always loved them and wanted to make one to call my own... Something seriously went wrong somewhere.

3. How do you feel that the fact that AGS is a freeware programme affect the community that has built up around it?
AGS has a great community spirit, a love for adventure games. These people like something that they can't really otherwise get in the shops. The fact that it is freeware has allowed the community grow in such a way. AGS is so well known today, due to it's continued coverage in the media. I think people would pay for it today, as opposed to when it was quite young.

4. How big a part does the AGS community play in your life?
Far too much. I rarely do much else on the internet, except look for pr0n!!! It takes up about 90% of my free time, with actually making games probably takes up 1%.

5. Have you been involved in making any games using AGS?
Not really. Unless you count Gorthor or Dickboy.

6. Answer these questions if you have been involved in making AGS games:

a. Were you interested in game design/programming before you started using AGS?
Yeah but no but yeah, like when I was younger I was like trying to make my own adventure games, but no It was too hard, but yeah then I found AGS and then CJ sold his baby to chantelle for a westlife cd.

c. Do you make games using other programmes, either freeware or not? How does the eperience differ?
No, it is far too hard for a graphically minded person.

d. Has AGS inspired you to try and take up game design professionally?
I'd like to.

7. Do you feel that there is a gender divide in the AGS community?
There was, but not so much anymore.

8. Are you likely to feel differently about a game if you discover it's made by a female? In what way?
Nope.

9. Do you feel that AGS makes it easier for females to get involved in computer game design? In what way?
Yes, it's free and the community are not a bunch of nerds who salivate when a women joins. We are a welcoming lot, and gender counts for nothing. As long as you are insightful and have a passion, we welcome all.

10. Do you feel that there is a difference between the types of games created by males and females?
Women write female dialog better, due to the fact that us stupid males don't know what the hell a woman would say.

11. Any other comments?
I still can't find my pants... AND PALY ACE QUEST11!11!1!1

I am working on the sprite for his partner in janitorial crime, Johnno, but things are going a bit so-so. I'm just a bit rusty, i'll get there.

Done. Not too happy with his legs or arms.

I made my mysterious reappearance a few weeks ago. I now have a solid internet connection. I just didn't make an announcement. I just went on like i was here all along.

When I came to england, I didn't have my own computer. Basically up until about 3 months ago, I didn't until I finally decided to buy this laptop. I did go to Brittens 2005, which was rockawesome. Apart from that cameo, my ags interaction was limited to internet cafes. But this time away has been good. It has reinvigorated my passion for actually making an adventure game.

On that note, it is definitly very good to be back. I hope to see many of you at brittens and mittens.

Critics' Lounge / Fat Steve sprite wip

Yes, it's Fat Steve again. I love him so much.

I created this character in high school. In lessons, I would draw this character doing some crazy hijinks. There was even a website dedicated to this character (which is long gone). He was sort of based on my friend, who was fat, but isn't any more.

When I originally came to AGS, I was going to make a Fatman game. Like any other ags newbie, I didn't have a storyline and just started making a game. It was rubbish, and I only got as far as a demo, which a few people have seen.

Anyway, since I've been back, I want to learn the new scripto system and stuff, and hopefully make a game that is fun to play.

Fat Steve is his name, and here is my newest version of him.

He now works as a janitor in a school, so he has lost his hawaiian shirt, which was his trademark...

His partner in janitorial crime is Johnno, a skinny guy with a bon jovi mullet. Based on a white van man who used to deliver vegies to where I worked at Dominos...

So let me know any critiques or issues you have with the image. I like it, except for his left shoe, which I don't like so much and will change.

Style will probably not change, as I am happy with it, although suggestions are welcome. I chose it because it is efficient.

Edit: Changed a few things and added some shadowythingamabobs...

Hello again, it's your old friend, Layabout. I hope all is well...

I have been working in a pub called the Fox and Hounds, near SIlverstone, for about a month now. All is great here. The number of really awesome people you meet when you work for short times in different places is one of my favourite things. I have made friends with an estate agent called Chris, who is having a french baby soon. Then there is Mark P. He's a great guy, comes in every day, has a few pints, a chat with his friends, and goes home. A good laugh. Then there is a really nice couple called Martin and Linda. Martin has a good paying job in MK. Linda is an American, and has been going out with Martin for 6 or so years. They are both a few years older than I am. Since Linda is only on a visiting visa, she can't work. She has to leave this week too, which is really sad.

So yesterday, I had a day off. I called Linda up, because I wanted to go to Northampton and do shooping, and since she doesn't work, and likes to get out of the house, and that she is really fun to be around. So we met up in the centre of Towcester, a smallish town near where I am.

I told her to meet me in a pub, The Brave Old Oak, which subsequently she did. We had a few drinks, and a chit chat about her boyfriends family and other stuff, it was a good old time.

After 3 pints, we kindof realised it was a bit silly to attempt to go to Northampton, as it was 4:30pm at this time. So we decided to have a quick drink, and go to the Pickled Pig, another pub in the centre of Towcester.

At the pickled Pig, we bought a few drinks and continued to talk about random things...

Many pints and a few pubs later, we were in the Monk and Tipster. Great pub. Martin had met and left us in the time elapsed, and so had Chris, the estate agent. Linda was telling me she use to work in PR for a game software company. I jokingly (or drunkenly) asked if she had met Ron Gilbert or Tim Shaefer. It was to my suprise that she knew who they were, and we discussed adventure games. Which led me to talk about AGS. To that she informed me that she actually has been here on many occasions, and that she used to write for Just Adventure. Which suprised me even more.

All this time I have known her, I'd never even known she was an adventurer. It blew me away and now I want to have babies with her...  :P but I don't think Martin would like that very much.

BTW, if you read this Linda, say hello...

Interesting, I must have totally missed this thread...

I never actually thought DG ares teh Rolf. Perosnally I am suspicious of Rolf being a fake and I outlined my reasons originally in this thread. I decided a few minutes after, after some persuasion and changed the topic, which led to these panty shenanigans.

I like the word shenanigans.

I looks like an infected penis.

Damn you AGA!!! you smelly welsh sheep shagger!

I believe that teh blue part of his skirt would look less like an infected penis if it were a less contrasting colour.
