What annoyed me a bit was the predictability in the puzzles. But that didn't take anything from the beautifully told story...

What I also found strange is ...

The puzzle with the bucket: You pull the rope and can't get it down because you're not heave enough. Fair. But when you pick up the stones, you still can't. Only after they're in the bucket you can get it down.. What's the weight difference?

Sweet, I've got about 4 hours of work left to do on my Salsa MAGS entry!  Then I've got the rest of the month to improve it...

Finished it yesterday, so...

I try to finish this game but get stuck when trying to kill the vampire. I have a crowbar, a knife, a watch, a diary and a book. Do I have the 'wrong' version and can't it be finished or...? Who played this March 2008 MAGS game and can help me?

Use the book on the bird?

Are you sure you removed the floppy disk after the first boot? And normally, after that, you boot only once from the CD to install Windows. After that remove all CD's and floppy's and boot the machine.

If you boot from A:\ it indicates there's still a floppy inserted. If you are on A: insert the floppy, type in "FORMAT C: /S" (without the quotes) to format your harddisk and make it bootable, remove all CD's and floppy's and restart, you should be able to end up on C:\ instead of A:\.

Curious how much has changed....

And when you start from scratch and try to boot DOS first? Does it work then? You say the machine won't start but still you can see files on C: ? What did you do to see them?

It doesn't stop, it crashes.

Nice one. The graphics are nice. Also the music is nice but doesn't really add to the suspense. Some improvements could be made:

- Let Jane walk around instead of reacting on interaction.
- Much more interaction with objects
- Debug mode is still on.
- Typos and bad English (and I'm not referring to the maid.. ;-)
- Logical dialogs:

Using the bed in the bedroom tell me to find out who killed uncle, even before I know he's killed.

- You have to use the keyhole to look and look at the keyhole to realize it's a keyhole...
- You hear noises outside but can't use the window to see what's there (lack of interaction).

But for a first game... a great start. Promising for any updated version or new game :-)

My first thought was: a wrong keyboard setting. For a laptop or something. But then again, the numerics would be in the wrong place. Then I thought a ALT- or SHIFT problem but that would still not relate to the letter-keys.

All I can think of is two other things:

1: Something got stuck under or between the keys which causes the double strokes. You can probably lift the keys from the board and see if there's something in your keyboard. (Never hurts to clean it once in a while.. ;-)
2: There's a problem with the wiring of the keys. Inside is a thin sheet that has the wiring in it. When the sheet folds for whatever reason the wiring might make false contact and result in unpredictable behavior. Less likely to happen but still..

So, did you open the keyboard before or did you spill anything?

I have good memories of Swashbuckler. A game I played at school on one of the 1st apples. There should be roms for an emulator.

Are we allowed to ask questions about games that are not AGS games? I played this one game before and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Its not a AGS game though
