I am having troubles with Pinback's "Schnellersparow Trial". Can't understand how to get the eyepiece from telescope. Tried every tool I have.
Game is hotspot-difficult by the way. Lots of stuff around and you don't know which is interactable.

Hmm that happened to me in one of my tests but never again, it's a mystery. I suggest you try searching the robust barrel in the control room.

For some reason I'm able to get Fuchs outside of the blimp but them I'm stuck. I can't go back inside again and I don't have the telescope part. Is it really needed to finish?

@David, Ben304 & Pinback:

Yep. That's a bug.

Try to copy this text to a setup.cfg file and save it in the same folder as the game. It's for 640x480 in windowed mode. If you want, you can change windowed=1 to 0 to play full screen or screenres=1 to 0 to play 320x240.

If it doesn't want to, you can remove the line refresh=85.

Alternatively you can start a command prompt from the folder where the game is and type "MYSTERY --setup" to invoke the same result as the winsetup.exe does.

Code: setup.cfg

[misc]
screenres=1
windowed=1
refresh=85
forceletterbox=1
[sound]
digiid=-1
midiid=-1
digiindx=0
midiindx=0
digiwinindx=0
digiwin=1096302880
midiwinindx=0
midiwin=-1

@discordance:

I'm stuck at the end. I can't find a save-option, no matter what download link I use.
Spoiler
I can't get the machine to work. I put in the petrol, the fuel, flipped the switch, turned the lights, played the harpsichord but.. nothing.

PS. Yeah, Pinback, I really wanted to play your game; please hurry with the patch :D

Working on it!!! But I'm stuck in several so it's taking a bit longer....
Besides... all these patches. I keep downloading!
Just as the game makers... I demand two days extra! I have a life too, you know..  :D

OK this sounds like a bug. What you could try doing is walking to the left of the bridge, and walking right down to the far right. Then try going north again. If you return in the same place again it could be a bug. Strange but people have already got past this. Ill try to replicate it.

Sorry i sound vague, I havent done much with this game for a lonnnggg time haha

Same screen. Here's the savegame, in case you want to look.

The woods are supposed to confuse you haha ;)

Yeah, you succeeded in that :-)  Point is, I can't go anywhere (so it seems). I can't cross the bridge and can't walk to the right past the tied trees. I can only walk north but it doesn't lead anywhere..., just the same screen again (next to the bridge). I can't cross the bridge, follow the river or anything..
Hmm upload a  screenshot of where it happens. Have you tried walking north of the wicker mans hut?

Hhhuuuu hut?
Here's your screenshot...  and no hut. I can only walk north from this point to keep getting back in this screen.

What day are you on?
Depending on which day you are on the woods change their paths, so places you went before, you cant get to now.

I think it's still day 1. Just after I lost a ghost.

I'm stuck too, literally. On a screen with some rocks, wood tied together on the right and a gold colored wooden bridge on the left. You can't cross the bridge (no reason) and north to the right of the bridge takes me back to the screen I'm trying to leave, as if it's a transition to the wrong room...

Anything I can do apart from restoring?

Depends completely on which games you were playing. Me Go Store? You're right, it's not your monitor. Tale of two kingdoms? Check your settings!
#572
Nope, that's just the point.

The winsetup.exe is looking for that specific game. It's compiled together with the game. If you rename the game after compiling, the setup won't work anymore. Of course you can edit the cfg file manually or run "mystery.exe --setup" to get similar results but still... I noticed the file was missing.

This game is quite confusing...

To start.. there is no setup with your game?  And the manual is missing the 'home' page and an image in the mainmenu.html

The title screen also seems messed up. I see a small letterbox window in the middle with trees and above that in black repeated vertical dots.. as if the image wasn't compiled right and some bits (0's & 1's) were missing..

Right after starting, I leave the hotel and have no clue what to do. There's little interaction with objects and the screen outside seems put together (hotel and general store), but not seamless, as if it's cut. Nothing to do here. Then all of a sudden a taxi shows up and takes me to a desolate place and I say I need to go to my hotel and get some sleep... That's what I just left?!?!

The perspective is also not quite right. I walk into the alley where the cars get smaller, but I stay the same size? I don't get the feeling of walking into an alley, just against a miniature car. I can walk straight through the lamppost, don't have to go around.

I think the game has potential with some adjustments and way more interaction but right now it's only sitting and waiting..

I'll see if I can finish it though 'cause the story is good. The sounds and music are also adding to it... it's just the non-interactivity...

It's all about reading.  And you don't have six candles to lite... it's the questions which candles you should lite.

It's all visible in the surrounding.

The solution:
Spoiler
On the pillars are some texts. Look at the pillars and see the bible references. Note the left and right column and the references per column. The left one: Job 15:30, Kings 18:45 and Acts 2:2. The right  column states from left to right: Judges 13:20, Isiah 62:6 and Psalm 106:188 Walk further to the right and note an altar with candles on it. Look at the bible on the right and look up for every item if it’s about flames or fire.

Job 15:30 is so the left candle should be lit. Kings is about darkness and rain so should stay off. Acts is about wind so should also stay off.

Judges is about flames so should burn, Isiah is about wind so should stay off and Psalm 106:188 is about fire so should go on. So on the left holder light the left one. On the right holder light the left and right ones.

@SomeSickSelf:

DEAD END WARNING:
Spoiler

- You can order water twice but only using the hanky once. When you have the second glass of water you can't leave the bar anymore..

Other:

- There's no feedback when you pick up things.
- The empty stool stays empty, even when you sit on it
- After using the empty mug on the blowpipe, you have an empty mug on a blowpipe and a blowpipe.
- After leaving the room with the blowpipe, you put it back, but stays in your inventory.
- Upon leaving the bar, you ask for the Sunday Special again?
- After removing the key and looking at the oven again, there's still a key on the back wall.
- Using the exit after wetting the hanky, makes you leave with stool... quite funny..  ;D
- After taking the key and removing the glass, upon leaving the room you want to return the blowpipe...again. Then it isremoved from your inventory.
- Typo in conversation with Salomon: Tobais' work --> Tobias' work
- The hammer keeps returning on the bar.
- The glassfactory and the steelworks have no exit-indicators.

btw, what font did you use? It's quite small but still good to read.

Which one was that? Pixely Pete?

I know. That was short for Terence Independent Terminator. But to find out more about the whereabouts of the game, I need to know what server hosted it at the time... then I can start digging in the archives of that host, find other relations etc...

Nevermind this topic... digging brought me to www.easy-clean.co.uk/zip/tit.zip. That domain is for sale however...

In my hunt for ancient AGS games, I'm now digging for Terrence Independent Terminator (by Paranoia). He's only been a 'guest' here, although he made numerous posts and entered MAGS quite a few times.

The link in the database for this game is http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=download&game=274. It leads me to a blank page so is there an administrator or someone else with db access who can tell me what the original link is?
