Nope, you can take it afterwards. What's in your inventory at the moment?

To learn how to read...
Spoiler
... return to the alley where you found the broom. There's something strange with the pipe.

To solve that...
Spoiler
...use the broom on the pipe to get an AWR device

You still can't read...
Spoiler
...so bring the device to Alfonso. He can teach you.

That's not dumb. It's the man at the bus stop in front of Diana's house.

Your second question will solve the first!  ;D

Rui, here's your shadow again...  ;)

Just played around a bit with Mad in Cashcais. Here's how I got it started:

-Start Spectaculator (I used 7.0.1.1349)
-Select the 48k Model
-Show the taperecorder. Select only fast load and auto play. All others off.
-Load the game .tap from File/Open
-In your ZX screen press J and type "" so the command is LOAD "" and press enter.

The game should run now. If not, let me know. I got it running on XP.

[update]
And if it doesn't work... why not play Mad in Cashcais online?

To add to the detergent...

Spoiler
... you need to get the component from one of the big containers in the lab. Look at them and you'll see a familiar ingredient if you've read the recipe.

To get that...

Spoiler
... you need a container.

But you can find that ...

Spoiler
... in the room with the big mess. On the table at the bottom is a container.

Hey, RUI, welcome back! Indeed long time no see.

Since I come across a lot of adventure games, I'll keep an eye out for the Portugese ones. If you have names but trouble finding them, let me know as well. I've got a few 'connections' ;-)

Seems I can't finish the game if you don't. Well, ok, no worries, thanks for the support. It's really appreciated.

What happens when you 'manually' correct the lines as if they were original? So move the translated line one line up and leave the one below it blank.. Is that maybe a workaround for the time being? Just act as if they don't need to be translated?

That said, having the entire catalog of IF games to experiment with different gameplay formulas would be very useful if someone wanted to make such game in a different engine while making as little mistakes as possible.

Try BAF's Guide. A very large repository of IF games.

Looking good. Playing now, telling later.
And now back to MC3, enough delay already!!!  ;)

General Discussion / Re: Broken Link Thread

Well, I don't mind being that offline vault, although I'm not an AGS authority. At the moment I do have an offline
copy of the BforS host and I'm hunting actively for the missing games. I must admit that my focus is on the games, not the demo's, rpg's and non-adventures. But if someone wants to store his game/rpg/non-adventure with me, he/she's welcome.

Speaking of that site http://archive.org: when you search for the bfors site there, you can download the complete history, including the binairies.... So everthing is mirrored already.  :D

I try to find as many (alternative) links to AGS games as possible. On this page you can find an index with the download links. Whenever one isn't working, I try to find an alternative or host the game for a few days.

I know that Peder Johnsen  is working on AGS Archives but I don't know the status of it. I'm also not sure how it will be organised on that host. If someone can come up with a solid 15Gb of space, you can host all games.

This looks somewhat familiar  :D
Playing now, comments later.

[Comments later:]

Short and sweet indeed. First of all: Don't panic! Compliments to Arjan, what a great score. And DN, you always seem to know where your towel is ;-)
Happy towel day!

Congratulations! Solid game. Nice graphics. Good puzzles! Well done. A special worthy...

Two typo's:

Spoiler
When changing the size of the jacket: It's mine size now --> It's my size now.
When looking at the 'cigarette': convinsing --> convincing.

Well:
QuoteTopic: The Quest Through the ICT Word - Game Demo  (Read 458 times)

So people do see it. The fact that I didn't respond is that I don't focus on demo's (maybe more people with me). If you just want feedback on the game, you should check the Critics Lounge. You only posted the link two days ago so give it some time.

And Domithan has a point, this isn't the place to ask these questions. See the links in my replies where to go or post in Adventure related

Well, games aren't uploaded here. Games are announced here with a link to any other site that can host files so the player can download them. There are several posibilities like mediafire, filefront, myweb or blogger. I don't give an opinion on how good they are or how userfriendly but they host files.

So, just announce your game and I'm sure there at least one fool (me? :-) that will check it out and ventilate his thoughts about it. You can also add it to the database so people can find your game even easier.

If you want a betatester to review your game before publication, just post it here.

I got a black screen on startup with dosbox but it changed to the intro screen after a few clicks/moments.

Putting up this version alone doesn't really help. Each (older) game is made with a different version so you should have all older versions available again. Maybe in time I'll put them up again somewhere.
