Ahh, I just played this at a friend's house. :) Yes, I'll get the game as soon as I can.

Hmmm... most of what I'd noticed has already been said in the above replies.

About the dictaphone and the recorded dreams:

There aren't arrow keys or some other method for cycling through the recorded messages. And given there're quite a few of them, it can be a bit tricky when looking for a specific message.

Btw, about the recorded dreams: I understand they were meant to give a glimpse of a larger world. However, it was kinda odd 'cos apart from Laura's comment at the beginning of the game, there didn't seem to be any other mentions about dreams. Perhaps next time, you can have a few papers or newspaper clippings, etc. about whatever subject is bothering him/her.

Also, about the reporter, it might've been better if he didn't quit giving the same kinda denial twice: like, saying he destroyed the evidence.

And I kinda like Laura even more than Rosa. I guess it's 'cos Rosa had her wit but I didn't get to see enough about her character: her hobbies, her thoughts, etc.

Hey folks, I'm trying to look for this indie game and somehow, the title has slipped me. When my hard disk died months ago, I lost most of my urls.

These are the details I recall:

- the protagonist is a young female(around late teens to mid-20s) who's learning magic?
- I think she was trying to look for her teacher?(I'm not sure)
- setting is fantasy with some puzzles
- there were faeries and a castle involved
- the indie game was produced by a Polish team(if I'm not wrong) who also did some hilarious game about the production team(led by a gal wielding a whip)

It's amusing how I can recall all these details but not the title. =/

Edit: Here're my opinions. Take them if you want. :p

Gone: Oh, the vocals and music were really shaky and basically, the band needed to get more coordination between the members. Sorry, I stopped listening before the song was done.

Midnight envy: Was this one recorded before the Tree Song? The music was a lot better in this one, than in Gone. Although, the vocals were still kinda shaky and still quite off-key.

The Tree song: Not bad even if you guys sound pretty similar to many other groups. There is still a future for you , man, because you guys play with emotion. Vocals really sound good in this one like you've just got a lot better. And it's because the singer got better and not because of production techniques, right?

My suggestions? Try listening to and experimenting with different cultural instruments and even different musical styles and genres. The following lines are my opinions: You could go pure in terms of genre but it's your choice, really. Still, many of the really good groups actually experiment with various instruments and genres and throw in lotsa crazy stuff like noise and melody, beats, etc. Be open-minded and try and listen to the cutting edge groups and don't follow trends. Set it yourself, man.

Stay away from highly repetitive chords because I truly suspect that's going to go out of fashion soon and you don't want to screw yourself over. Likewise, don't stick to some signature sound which starts to sound the same two albums later. Of course, you probably know that sometimes when people go for "trends" and "fashions", they don't go for the music. They're just buying the concept.

Also, I'm sure you know groups/singers like Sonic Youth, Cocteau Twins, Alice Cooper, X Japan, Explosions in the sky(slightly repetitive but still good), Kyuss, etc., etc., doncha?

Hmmm... I walked to the right side of the screen(the same screen as the monster, that is) and tried to use the mud on myself. However, I'm unable to use the sheet(already cut it up with a knife).

Items I have: the spells and spellbook, rancid leaves. a helmet full of hot water, green mud, a cut-up sheet and a penknife. What am I missing out on?

Edit: Aha!!! The tea!!! Hmmm...

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you had this problem when playing in full-screen mode. The game screen is off-center, towards the left.

I'm playing A Better Mousetrap and well, I got that problem too with Pleurghburg and other AGS games. The reason why I'm playing in full-screen mode is 'cos I keep clicking outside of the game screen.

Any idea how to fix this?

Cool game.... it'd be nice to see what happens to Sydney when he's become famous. :p

Or even playing him during his younger days would be fun. :p

Okay, I managed to get the wig, a bucket, rope, curry, dustpan and scissors. But, does anyone know how to get the suit and shoes? Also, uhm, I've been trying to talk to Terrence but the topic of the id never comes up.

Augh this is so frustrating. I've been clicking around for almost three hours without any results.

Spoiler
so about the suit: you have to bring the frustrated man in the inn this "damned" article of the homos..
So you should use the fan in order to make the wig fly away....
And the shoes are allowed to take from the fisherman when you give a call to "Superhero" in order to help you to catch a big fish....

Huh? But I can't even get into the inn yet!!! I've been trying to ask Terence to see when I can borrow his ID but that line doesn't show in his dialogues. I've also been using all my items on Terrrence, his dumpster and his can but no results. Darn it...

Edit: Finally, found out how to get the ID.

So, at the risk of sounding like a whiny teenager, does anyone know what is the status of the game? :)

Oh, I am so totally stuck.
Spoiler

I've talked to the snake and crab and the cyclops in the area where Borg first lands, gone to the moon, and seen that moon bug. I've also gone to the sea and talked to Death, the faery, the worms and the crab. Well, I still don't know what next to do. I also went to the sun and in the forest, there are things to go get. Well, I am still really stuck.

Perhaps, you can look at the walking posture of humans and try to duplicate that instead. Or, make each of the arms and legs move separately, not together.

ok here's the deal, a quick mid thanksgiving update

if you have no sound at all don't run the game through the launcher

go into files and run the game normally, for some reason it cuts of music all together.

you really need to hear ghormak's music cause it just rocks awesome

Errrr... nice game!!! I've tried using that suggestion of running Spellbound.exe from /files as well as changing the options in the AGS setup.exe but there is still no music. I only can hear the character's footsteps.

*sighs* Just what am I doing wrong?!

Edit: I'll just like to state that except for some pesky Windows Audio services(just that some onboard audio or some other software is conflicting with my sound card, thus causing my audio to disable), I have no problems with audio in games, mp3s, etc. So, I'm not entirely sure why the music in Spellbound is just not working for me.

Also, the music works fine in Play Spellbound.exe perfectly well but not within the game itself.

Final edit: Oooohhh, it turns out that music.vox was NOT in the the "files" folder so I copied it over. :) I was actually looking at another game and realised then, that "digital music" was grayed out in winsetup.exe for Spellbound! :)

What a fun game!!! Hmm, I hope I can find the other version soon. :)

Spoiler
I downloaded the AGS version and towards the end, I dropped the rope, was brought into a strange room, fainted and blah blah... did I do the right thing or was that an alternate ending if you'd lost?

It's all right. I actually used the hint system but failed to see the errr... gravel.

Oh well, now I'm running around Nazare. Pretty cool game.

Looks very interesting.

A pity though, that I couldn't even make my way past the voice messages in the starting of the game.

Reason? 'Cos I don't understand most accents very well(despite tons of repeats), so a lack of subtitles was of no help at all.

Oh well. On to the next game. I hope that maybe there might be subtitles in the next game created by this person.

That voice message is the only bit of voice in the game, the rest is text.  And actually you don't even have to understand the voice message to understand the premise of the game.  :)

Oh all right... thank you!

I'm playing it now. Hmmm not bad. *sighs*

Spoiler

btw, what did I do wrong? I'm now at the wind generator but there are no footprints. Meanwhile, I've been scrambling around looking at the telescope, the temple and even the furnicular for clues but no go.

Hints & Tips / Re: Duty and Beyond

Oh no, I'm almost done with the game and then I found out I forgot to get the red gem. There is no other way of finishing the game without re-loading, eh?

If that's the case, I'm not really sure if I want to continue playing the game. It was really fun but very frustrating too since I dislike pixel-hunts so much.

Nevermind. I solved the issue.

It was resolved by having the heatsink reseated. And uhh the other cause is bad VIA drivers. *sighs* VIA is always such a PITA.

Uhmmm but isn't the technical forum for those who're scripting games with AGS? And not for those who're having problems running AGS games?
