Yeah, I'm kinda bored so thought I'd upload a cutscene that takes place shortly after the Perils of Poom demo ends.
DOWNLOAD RIGHT HERE
The game will be released around the end of December, not sure how late, though. Props to m0ds on music. Still got to do some music/sound effex coding.
Er.. have a screenshot.

EDIT: Mirror homepage.ntlworld.com/ev.cool/poomtrailer.zip...
Complications..

Well, I havent really got any advice for you coz I also suck at web sites, but I like the direction you're going in with it - Lots of graphics and a layout with an interesting structure. Personally, sites with loads of wasted whitespace arent as attractive to me so I like it so far.  :)

BTW - It loaded at a decent speed for me on my 128, expect a couple of the pics took a while to load. That said I am downloading loads of stuff right now, though, so that might have affected it.

Whoa, you have a great voice. Young-sounding, yet professional as well.
Man, I gotta say - I really like your voice. I agree with terranRICH. Nice range, I like the way you put more expression into some lines than others.

sorry for the wrong answer, I was using graphic overlays when I came to the forums and noticed your post, I really wasn't thinking right!

Thats ok. It still would have worked.

Sounds promising, cheers. Until now, I didnt actually know you could do overlays like that. I should read the update lists next time.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking that, but I want to put a lot of different text messages and might edit it at the last minute - thats a lot of bitmaps. I don't need the text to follow a character either, just sit staticly in the foreground.

(EDIT)
Another thing I was thinking of, was making another GUI just for this part, where theres a text object. But I'm not sure how to change its value to a set value defined from a room.

Just wrapping up a game, but theres one thing I cant seem to solve easily.

Similarly to when speech is displayed above a character's head, is there a way of making some form of text (like a label or something) appear during the game, which doesnt disappear after a certain time limit? I've been trying to work round this using DisplaySpeechBackground() in different ways, but I've come out with nothing.

Thanks

I was gonna say you could put the Perils Of Poom demo up there (games/demo page) but I might be a little late posting.

Oh no. It happened to one of the band sites I check too. Whats with all this hacking these days? New trend?

You ever seen/played a game called The Neverhood? That was all done in clay or plastercine or something. Must have taken ages filming all of it, but it looked really smooth. Its res was 640 x 480 and it looked cool.

Thats dodgy coz one of my cousin's married someone he met online. And she was from New Zealand too. I think they're still together. I know that he went and lived there with her for a year or so, now they're over here again for a while. I dunno. I dont keep track of stuff like that.

I used to do this thing where I had to check a locked door about ten times, then it turned into doing this with both hands, and as time went on I felt I had to jiggle that knob more and more times..

Yeah, I got the locked door thing. Maybe not 10 tens but I do stand there and jiggle the handle a few times to make sure its locked, then I walk off and wonder if I really did lock it properly. I used to do some other obsessivey-type stuff but I've forgotten them right now.

Is all that supposed to be in capitials? Anyway, try 2ma2's site for some animation tutorials. Theres a good walking one there.
