Competitions & Activities / Re:MAGS JULY

Hmm... Not very fond of these community-based games... Too many of these already. Just my opinion though. Won't enter this month, however. Hmm, how am I then going to come around and make something...?

Jannar: Yeah it would be cool to do something together! Any idea of how to arrange it?

Neole: Well, most of it is made using virtual instruments, most from Reason (through Cubase).
The vocals and guitars are recorded with a common SM-57 plugged right into the soundcard (half crappy TerraTec-thingy we have at school).

Thanks, Nos! Good to see you too!

Ok, I might just be a little too inspired by Kraftwerk, but I have to put something I like in it.

And I'd have loved to have som nice piano parts in it, but I'm just not the pianist to make something decent enough.

And if these lyrics isn't about love I know none that is.

And there are a little groupsinging, just that I do all the voices, so it's not much of a group... So much for cloning...

I found out what it was. I couldn't use the DirectX-drivers, so it's a sound card issue.

Just noticed that this seems to happen with all AGS games when I run them in windows!
The newer ones gives an error message just like the one above while the older just crashes. This certainly didn't happen before! Has anyone else experienced this? How can this be?

Note: I use Win98 SE (=crap...).

Hehe, probably not... Maybe Bert II or Slacker Quest II though. Already got a lot of stuff for an SQ sequel at least. But I just want to play around a little with the new AGS really.

Heh, I just got an idea for the next MAGS: Make a game based on the Nicholas Wolfe intro... That would make me feel narcissistic enough ;)

Critics' Lounge / Boy band song
Mon 30/06/2003 14:15:15
This is a song me and a friend (who wrote most of the lyrics and criticised a lot...) made for a project in school.
It's actually a kind of experiment, I wanted to make a classical boy band production, so consider this both extremely ironic and dead serious at the same time...

So here are Backdoor Boys with their number one hit: Another Day! Enjoy

I'll be glad for any kind of criticism!

To hear the rest of the tunes from the project (all by people in my class) follow this (in Swedish but you're probably smart enough to download the songs...):

Advanced Technical Forum / Error in TUM
Mon 30/06/2003 12:22:24
When trying to run Ratracer's TUM (The -something- Machine) I get the following error:

"Illegal exception"
"An exception 0xC0000005 occured in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x004B036A ; program pointer is +0, ACI version 2.54.522, gtags (0,0)"

I have no idea what this could mean, has anybody else experienced this with this game. It's version 1.1 of the game btw.

May I eat your testicles raw instead? It would be a shame wasting them on some mythical creature no one's ever seen.

However, it's a real good thing, I think, to write down the plot before creating your game, but make sure you're not too stuck with the plot and put other things in while creating.
I've never done anything like that, though. I've always just have a basic idea first and then as I start making the first few rooms and characters something comes up in my mind and I follow it. The puzzles and plot are normally based on what rooms I have drawn rather than the opposite. If I ever made a larger game, though, I'd probably write things down.

And to answer your question: Yes, you're odd. We all are.

Nice to see that my games are enjoyed and longed for :) I though I'd play around a little with the new version (so much seem to have improved!) and maybe join MAGS. I seriously consider attending Mittens though. How many are estimated to come? Shouldn't there be a Mittens thread somewhere (hm, maybe there is...)? It's cool to see that there are still a lot of old members here as well as a lot of new people. Cheers to you all!

Felipe:
Oh, that old document... Did I say anything of sense in that? Hm, maybe I should change my name to Wartgas instead, hehe...

General Discussion / Re:sounds
Mon 30/06/2003 03:14:35
I think music without sound would be hella-cooler. Then I could just turn on a CD and listen to that while I play a song from a site. Wouldn't that be a wonderful feature for a music site?

Hohohoho...

Ey, ree-spekt, YO! Tha Vargtass of tha OL' SKOOL is tawkin on ya!
Felipe, who are you? Someone who's changed his nick, I suppose? :)
There actually is no typo in my nick, it's just swedish and actually means wolf paw.

Oh, Orust. I might just show up then. It's a weekend, right? What to bring? A lot of young willing girls or just a toothbrush and a dildo?

Actually, that page seems to be down... But someone around here should know, right? :)

Ah, of course. I just saw a glimpse of hope there... Not that I'm a big fan of fan games, but it would be cool if Lucasart etc encouraged them.

Held in Sweden, right? When, where, how?

Great pic, and I'll tell you the small error on the back wall: It's the perspective. It's hard to catch on the eraly pictures but with the tiled floor you can see that the perspective on the controlpanel is not quite right.

Maybe this has been discussed here earlier, but what's the deal with http://www.lucasfiles.com/ ?
Is Lucasart positive to fan games?

Just because he's beaten doesn't have to mean he'll die, right? You can just make him flee automatically or get i real deep trouble if he loses a battle and then to advance he'll have to go through battle again.

I actually started making an RPG in AGS. I might do something about i eventually. The hardest part is definatley making a decent AI. Making an easy combat system wouldn't be too hard, really. You could also check out my rather crappy action game Mid-Town Shootout (should be on the games page). I can give you the source for it, but it's for a way old version of AGS so there's probably not much use.

Hiya guys!
Zup? :)
Haven't been around much, communities haven't been high prio the last few months... But here comes summer which means no school and all friends leave town so I might just be around a little.
I see a lot have happened with AGS, must download the latest version and play around a little...
So, any gossip for me? :)

Cheers!
