you can try adding some foreground objects... those things really add depth to backgrounds.

some work in progress on this one :
it's still not finished as you can easily see :)
just wanted to know which chandelier fits better.

oh and can anyone help me finding reference to inner and outer house designs from about 1920-1930. I'm especially looking for reference about mental hospitals (cells) from that time.
any help would be appriciated.

Oh, and blackbird :
i didn't trace nuffin and the program is PSP 8.10

my vote goes for the monocle-wearing one :)
what you could change in my opinion is his skin color... perhaps a little more pale.. that would give him a more evil look.

you should have used less filters... perhaps only blurring it a bit or something

General Discussion / question about rpg's
Sat 21/02/2004 21:57:12
Anyone ever played Mordor ? it's a great game, simple but fun.
anyway i wonder if anyone knows an utility (game engine) that would allow me to make a simmiliar game myself.
(for those who don't know how mordor looks like : i want to create an rpg with a first person view all the time, not an over the top view like all those anime/manga rpg's... ya know something like ultima underworld or return to castle ravenloft etc.)

the pic as seen before with some improvments

The title screen ( the game still needs a title )

sum to that the nice background of the bar you did before, and you'll get a very promising game indeed...

what bar ? :D
anyway thanks for your feedback... i appriciate it.
and as for the resemblance (spelling correct ?) to shadow of the comet :
i'm trying to capture the climax of shadow of the comet... this is going to be a H.P. Lovecraft inspired game... i just hope i can handle it.

thanks for your critics...
i'll redo the door sometime in the future.
i'm planning on keeping the shading for the end.
as for the trees (foliage) :
i draw the basic shape with a custom foliage brush i made and a very dark green colour (almost black). next i build it up with lighter shades ending with a bright yellowish green. then i duplicate the layer ( don't know if it's neccecairy, i'm just making a new layer for everything :)) and add noise (about 45, monochrome, uniform or gaussian)

EDIT:
work in progress ;) :
#58
yeah it's pretty much incomplete (the image)
thx 4 c&c i've used the advice with the shadow and i think i've got a pretty nice outcome :

i've been playing around with a new style for my game, it's not completely finished... i just need to find a good way of blending the path with the grass.. i've been trying a few things but it always looks crappy. i would appriciate if anyone could help me out with this  :-\

and a larger version :

*UPDATE*
For newest updates see last post (obviouls :P )

"THe knife thing. I was going for a McGyver type character who could do anything with anything. example make a bomb out of chewing gum or pick a lock with a strand of hair. The kind of stupid stuff that would never work in real life."

in my opinion that would lead to some illogical and annoying puzzles.
