Cheers mate! I've downloaded ACRONYM onto the classroom computer at my school and have been playing it in game-time with some of my more advanced English-speaking kids.

They all seem to choose the Cadet. I guess he is the most kid-friendly-looking character?

It's been a big hit with Japanese kids! They all laugh when they see the "First Contact" Cadet in his "smarmy/charming" pose.

Without exception, when I ask them "Do you want to play it again next time?" they have all said "Yes! Yes!"...

(Next time I'll make them play the Trooper. They're gonna love the expression on the cow's face...)

Grrrr...Finally got my all 5's and 6's character...Went Mechanic...No disguise or flashbomb...Met the neighborhood watch guy on first card...Died in 3 rounds...

Apart from that: Brilliant game Ghost!!! Has had me entertained all day!!!

With the tweaks mentioned above this could seriously go world-wide viral...

Oh, and here's my quote for the box cover if you deem fit:

More addictive than "Flappy Angry Birds With Friends"!!!

EDIT: Finally beat the game on about my 30th try...Cadet, and made it through with 5 mins to spare (laugh)

Record scraps carried at one time (to date): 50
Record number of rolls needed to abduct a single cow: 20

Ghost, please add some achievements:

UnMOOvable Object: It took you 20 or more tries to abduct a single cow.
Just Leftover Scraps: 50 or more scraps carried at a single time.

(or somesuch)

Spielberg is the one who played adventure games, not Lucas.

Oops....thanks for clearing that up guys!

Well even better then! He makes much better movies in any case!

Just finished the whole series and I just have to say that I'm so glad I spent 40+ hours or whatever I did on the Blackwell saga instead of watching 20+ Hollywood movies...

The story was much better than what passes for a story in Hollywood these days...

But! NEVER let Hollywood get their hands on this gem of a story!!!

They already tried something similar with R.I.P.D. and it sucked!!!

Unless you're strapped for cash of course and they offer you a couple mil...Then you guys at Wadget can keep bestowing upon us this kind of quality for eternity...

The game is making progress, at the moment there are 8128 sprites in the game.

Since most of the animations have to be done seven times (one version for each kid) there is still much work to do in the animation department. So we're always looking for help with animations.
To fasten thinks up we also could use somebody who is interested in creating a cutscene (such as the Edsel flying away, the house exploding, ... something that can be created separately and independent from the rest of the game) that will require animation, background and scripting work.
So if anyone reading this can spare some time and is interested, just write me a PM. Thanks!

This looks absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!

I've seen many people do a recreation retro-style of an old game but I have NEVER seen anyone attempt to update an old-school game and bump it up to the level of its sequel!!!

Seriously guys...If this gets finished...You MUST find a way to directly send it to Lucas himself!!!

He was always the guy with the big LUCAS stamp that had to be on everything until it made it through to the final production, so you gotta KNOW he played and replayed DOTT until it was just right...

You guys just may be able to get him to reopen LucasArts Adventure Games for this one release...

If only you could break into Skywalker Ranch somehow:

Slots don't open up, Mandle, you have to guess someone else's game to get a turn. That looks like a photo of the Blackwell Island Lighthouse rather than a screen-grab anyway.

Whoops sorry!

Exactly...it's a photo. But, there's something special about this particular photo I think, unless my eyes deceive me ;)

Sorry, I completely missed that I still need to set the pick for June.
Thanks Mandle for your teaser!

Thanks Cat for including my prose in the Pick Of The Month promo for this more than worthy game...I feel like a part of the community now...

And GRATZ to AprilSkies for an honor well deserved for an amazing game!

Best of luck with this project!!! It looks like it's really coming good and I wish I was playing it right now!

For your long journey, I hope you haven't forgotten to pack the mystical Pam Daor, or the Ecived SPG for the more technologically advanced traveller...

Happy trails!

Hahaha looks awesome! I bet she had a great time with it too! How stoked must she have been to see herself riding on a unicorn, eh? :)

As for where to post this: If it's a final release (as in you will not be working on it anymore) you can post in Completed Games. If it's a demo of something you plan to complete then post in Games In Progress, but try to put "close thread" message if you ever cancel the project before completion.

Cheers!

General Discussion / Re: Door puzzle ideas...
Thu 12/06/2014 03:29:27
If the game had a score that increased each time you unlock a door:

Then you could have a door that was already unlocked or standing open. The player can easily pass the door but the score does not increase, leaving the player with an incomplete score at the game's end.

To get the points the player must find a key somewhere past the door, go back, close the door, lock it, and then unlock it to get the points.

:-D

Or the mastermind behind the maze kills the player at the end of the game (or refuses to let them leave yet if you are not that nasty) as they have not fulfilled the challenge of "unlocking all the doors"...

Anyways, I think you get the idea...

Looks amazing! Nice Contact reference there as well!
#10556
Try this in the Global Script:

Object[5].Solid = true;

(Assuming the suitcase is object #5)

Then do the same thing for the other object properties you mentioned.

You must refer to objects by number, not name, in global script. ;)

The game is worth it.

Probably more appropriate to post a comment on the game's download page if you really want to support it (and get people really fired up about a Christmas-themed game in June)

Wow!  I am surprised to see that three people chose mine, number 8.  After seeing the other entries, I felt a little foolish for entering.  There are some amazing stories on that list!  Good job, folks.

I liked the cadence you achieved in the latter half of the story.
