yes, and there's no way to interact with him or make him move.

Okay...here is the solution:

Spoiler
You must go all the way to the door and shout at him from that side. This will scare him back along the rope to the left. Keep shouting...

If you got the key from the chimney then you must have gotten the scissors from the rope...Remember how you did that ;)

Spoiler
I did that by talking to him and he moved to the edge. Now it says that he's already at the wall

Spoiler
It's like a cm in size. I felt it was OK :)
[close]

This is true. The reason I call it pixel hunting is not because of the size of the area. It's because
Spoiler
when an item appears to be one hotspot, then you assume that in order to interact with it, you can click ANYWHERE on the item. There's no reason to assume that you have to click a specific region within the item. If puzzles were designed that they only work if you click a specific 1 cm square of a larger item, then it would be almost impossible to play a game because you would never know what small box to click
[close]

Anyway, I did get past it. But I am stuck again:

Spoiler
I'm in the room with the witch. So far I put 3 keys in the box: the one from the witch, the one from under the mat and the one from the guy in the chimney. I cut the rope with the scissors and he says "ta da" but I don't see any way to progress. I've resorted to trying all items from inventory on each other and all over the room but to no avail

Any hints?

It's not really a smoke-screen :)
Spoiler
I have included two slightly annoying point&click traditions at separate places in the game. One is books - books - book - books, just slightly more forgiving. And not with books.

And, it's named "console" in newer versions. Had some clean-up.

I solved this one by pixel hunting.

Thank you

Ahhhh...I guess I just got lucky on the second or third try then (laugh)

We are so close to finish the game!

And what an amazing game it is!

I'm proud to have been able to help in bringing this unforgettable game out into the larger English speaking community!

As I told AprilSkies during our long and winding path to final release:

I came to AGS in the hope of finding games to match the fun I had back in the day with such games as "Day of the Tentacle", "Sam and Max", and "The Dig"...(to name but a few)

And I have found some games here that came close.

But I would have to point out "Donald Dowell and the Ghost of Barker Manor" as the one that came the closest to those heavenly experiences.

Even after the 25,000 word proofread of the original script during mid-October I still had no idea of the experience awaiting me upon the first playtest of this game.

Constant work on the behalf of AprilSkies and the incredibly patient Rum Corpse team (for bearing with me through all my nit-picking about issues) is finally about to bring this work of art to fruition.

I know I have personally logged over 100 work hours on this project which means Rum Corpse did at least three times that if not much more, and AprilSkies did in the many thousands. (He is just the author and all though...(laugh))

I cannot express how excited I am about the upcoming release, and also how envious I already am of all of you who are going to get to experience this game for the first time.

Spoiler
(1)Look at the flying saucer from far away...You will see some laundry drying on a line...I wonder if there are any pants there?
(2) The "consolls": You just need to keep using them until they open a door. There is no puzzle.
(3) You need to give the green guy a gold coin.
[close]

Hope those help a bit...I can be more specific if you need more help ;)

1) So I noticed but have no way to get there
2) That's true for the first one. The larger one doesn't seem to work that way. He says not to punch buttons randomly and to look more closely. I am completely stumped
3) Sounds like a plan. I just don't happen to have one! :)

Any suggestions?

Thank you

SHADOW

Spoiler
(2) That comment about "looking closer" is just a smoke-screen I believe. I did multiple clicks on the large console of both LOOK and USE icons and a door opened in the floor.

(You must get through this door to get closer to your goals in (1) and (3)...

I'm stuck.

Spoiler
There are three areas that I cannot solve and I'm at a standstill. The solutions may be related 1) The alien who needs his pants; 2) The "consoll" cloud in the same room (may be related); 3) The green dude who wants something but won't tell you what. I assume that the coloured goo mixing machine is related. I have the vegetables. I got the scrap from the glass machine and the one from the castle. I put the straw in the can with the tape

Can someone pass me a hint as to what to do next? I think I've tried everything but no avail.

Thank you

There are three possible achievements to gain. Won't say what, and don't know if you got any on your first playthrough, but might slightly increase replayability.

I got only one of the achievement trophies...Intrigued now though as to what the others might be...

Thank you for the feedback :)
Did just that with one of the testers last night (local time Norway) when I became aware of my caffeine-induced laziness at late night writing. Exporting the dialogue gets an error, so it had to be done quite manually.

Also fixt some minor glitches, and adjusted the play-time estimate. When I play through for testing myself, I tend to skip a lot of dialogue. Lesson (hopefully) learned.

Cool! That should go a long way towards making this game as good as it deserves to be!

One other thing to look out for, which won't show up with a spellchecker, is things like "to" vs "too", "their" vs "there", "you're" vs "your" etc. I noticed a few such issues in the game...

Otherwise: Congratulations on a great game! I really enjoyed playing it! Hoping to play more games from you in the future! :)

Well, I had my doubts about this game when I first started it. The lack of sound is one hurdle to get over, but this also means that you must rely entirely on the text which seriously needs a proofreading and a good edit to make it more viable...

This being said though: After I played for a while (and had gotten over those first two hurdles) I started finding myself really, really enjoying the game!

Its puzzles are, for the most part, very good: Not too difficult/not too easy kind of level mostly...

The characters are all fittingly quirky and weird. The depth of character suffers a little from the text problems mentioned above but the visual look of the characters is just so lovely that this can be forgiven...

This brings me to the game's strongest point: All of the artwork is just gorgeous!!! You can tell that a lot of effort, love, and talent on the part of the author went into every background, character, and object in the game, and also a quite warped imagination as well: I found myself wondering not a few times while playing what kind of dreams this dude has (laugh)...In places the art style is very Seussian, and quite Burtonesque in others. This is meant as very high praise indeed.

So, if you can get past a couple of hurdles, this game is very well worth playing and should be greatly enjoyed by adventure game fans!

(Suggestion To The Author: I'm guessing that English is not the author's native language, but actually the English is not too bad: It's the tons of misspellings and typos that really are the problem. Maybe the author should go over the text with a simple spellchecker, recompile, and upload that version? It would really go a long way towards fixing the text issues, and I think the game deserves it. Just an idea...)

Time Stone was cool.

This is out???

I have been looking at it in the dev thread and to be honest I thought it was one of those projects that looked too ambitious to every actually get released...

BUT NOOOOOOOOO!!!!

You mean you actually did it?

OMG I will sooooo be playing the shite out of this when I get a few parsecs of spare time!!!

First off, I hate you so much for the thread's deceiving title :angry:

Secondly, this looks like a lot of fun and the kids look like they had a great time.

Thirdly, in Latin, spider starts with the letter a :wink:

"Deceiving"? "Title"? "for"? I really do not know what you are referring to... (laugh)

LOL @ Latin spider...I see you got the reference this puzzle was inspired by ;)

Code: AGS

function game_start()
{
 mouse.EnableMode(eModeInteract);
 Mouse.Mode = eModeInteract;
 mouse.Visible = true;
}

maybe this works

Hehehe :-[

It was much simpler than that actually...

It seems I was trying to use the sprite in slot 0 for my cursor, thinking it was slot 1... :-[

Everything is working fine now...I will just slink away and hope a big hole in the ground swallows me up...

(laugh)

Are you sure you set image for "Interact" mode? Every cursor mode have its own picture.

Yes, actually I have the same image set for every cursor mode.

Having a rather frustrating problem here and was hoping somebody could help:

I'm making a game which does not require any inventory or regular GUIs etc. so I chose "Blank Game" when I first made the game.

Everything is working fine so far except for one thing:

I cannot find a way to make the mouse cursor appear on the game screen. The mouse interacts with hotspots just fine (when I can guess where it is (laugh) ). The only problem is that it's invisible.

I am using an imported sprite for the cursor. It's a png image 14x17 pixels.

I've tried:

Code: ags
function game_start()
{
  mouse.UseModeGraphic(eModeInteract);
  mouse.Visible = true;
}

But it does nothing.

I have the player character's location set off the screen, but I tried it with the player character visible on the screen and still no cursor visible.

I've been through the manual and searched for similar problems in these forums but to no avail.

I'm sure I'm missing something simple but I can't figure out what it is.

Anyone know?
