Well, it's the 18th where I am, so I figure the current deadline has about another 36 hours to go allowing for timezones and also the time I get home from work tomorrow to officially start the voting.

How's everyone coming along?

Woah...Tabata you played?! I'm sorry I could not include a mouse in the game somewhere but could only work with available graphics included with the game-maker...

And it seems some guy called AprilSkies had a bash at it as well, eh? Well, good luck to whoever he is...

But Tabata....Woah!!! I feel honoured!

Granted...but a stagehand forgot to switch out the fake rubber tire-iron for the real one before shooting your death scene...

I wish I had a better computer (and no....I don't want HAL)

For some reason Cassiebsg's entry is not showing up for me in the gallery... FIXED

OMG soooo friggin' hard to choose. There is not a flawed entry in this whole bunch...But:

Concept: Kasander...This background just makes me want to know so much more about the story of the game it would be in. Well that...and also that fact that any game with backgrounds just THAT beautiful would need an incredible amount of bungling of the rest of the production to not be awesome!!! I'm guessing it's a spaceship that crashed quite some time ago and is currently being worshipped by the jungle natives as a shrine to the "gods", so telling that much story with one background really deserves the concept award I feel...

Playability: GreenBeams...The multiple paths and obvious puzzle of the hanging medallion from the dead pilot's fist just makes me want to walk all over this. Sure character perspective is gonna be a problem, but the gorgeous walkbehinds make up for it. Besides: there is only one vote allowed for:

Artistic: ThreeOhFour...Ummmm, yeah. I can only repeat Cassie's comment: "I want to hang a print of this on my wall" I believe it was...

EDIT: Also, I just realized that the stuff wrapped all around the dead pilot, and hanging all blood-soaked down to the ground, in GreenBeam's work is the pilot's failed attempt at bailing out with his parachute, or it deployed upon crashing. Either way: deliciously ironic black humour right there. I can only hope the player has to climb the parachute somehow to retrieve the medallion, adding insult to injury...

Kasander that is truly beautiful! Wow, you really know how to draw light reflecting off metal! Just wonderful!

Main characters switched after a belch with an unheard pirate's interjection followed a hint (2 words)
Nice breakfast teaser :-P
Spoiler

Belch (=burp) follows hint (=clue) = clue burp
Swap the main characters (initial letters) = blue curp
Delete (because it's unheard) the pirate's interjection (arrrrr = r)

Blue Cup

Well done mate!!! I'll leave the next one for someone else to come up with.

I want some "mental yoga" as well (to quote a respectable source)...

You might have heard about it yes. :)

Hehe...this was a pretty big hint too ;)

Cheers for the puzzle! I will probably think one up later today but if someone else has one to go ahead with before that please feel free to do so.

Next one:
Slowly walking over one thousand dollars, where the second of the first becomes the first of the second. (5,4)

An attempt at an answer:
Spoiler
Is it "Troll Song"? Given the slow walk could be "Stroll" and the switching of letters which I made many attempts at but could not quite figure out:

My best try was to take the "S" from stroll and fit it onto "one g" (slang for one thousand dollars): resulting in "Troll soneg"...

Maybe not....very confused...

Spoiler alert!
Spoiler

What was the glue used for? And the folded cloth had no use either. And I sooooo wanted to open that stuck door! Either the crowbar or the knife should have been able to do something. :p
But what I missed the most was a bit of feedback for when something I tried didn't work.

The glue can be used to repair the pictures after you rip them, which is just for people who like to leave a place the same way they found it, as you can also put the folded cloth (which is supposed to be the panda picture you cut out) back in the frame. SO yeah, you can fix the whole art gallery room back to normal before you leave. It's just an Easter Egg.

The stuck door cannot be opened for complex reasons involving how the game-maker works. Originally it could be opened but I had to stick it shut so it could be used for another interaction.

YES! The lack of feedback from the game when you try to use a wrong item is one of the limitations of the game-maker at this stage of development: It only allows for a single interaction of one item per object, so yeah: only the right one. But wait, you ask, I'm sure I used more than one item on a single object during the game? Yes, but they were always the right item yes? That's because of the illusion of it being the same item. In fact I was swapping new items for old ones behind the scenes triggered by other interactions happening elsewhere in the game. It's pretty complicated. But yeah, having the "wrong item" feedback on an item that also needs a "right action" result is not currently possible with the way the game-maker works at this stage of development. Hopefully this changes in the future.

Cheers for the feedback, Cassie!

Hi community!

I just thought I would share a link here to an Escape The Room game I made as a class project with some very imaginative kids I teach at my school.

The name of the game is "Super Beasts" for reasons which will become clear as you play...

The game was created with an online tool that you can also access at the same site should you wish to:

CLICK HERE TO PLAY "SUPER BEASTS"

It was quite a challenge and a lot of brain-frying work and fun to complete the game with all the crazy ideas and puzzles we mapped out in class, but I hope that it was worth it and that some of you might play it and also experience some challenging fun as well.

We tried to pack as much story, puzzles and interaction into what is still an interface in development and this was an often hair-pulling but also enjoyable challenge in itself.

There is also a voting option at the top of the game screen and, as a good voting turnout can result in more game slots available for our classes to use (and potentially more young-uns growing up interested in game development), please be as kind with your votes as you are able to be...

Well, I hope this little point-and-click adventure-style effort can give you at least a half hour of enjoyment if possible.

SUUUUUUPER-BUUUUUUUNNY!!!

I would just turn off debugging mode before releasing the game as long as it's just a warning and doesn't actually cause any game errors/crashes...But that's just me...

A lot of warnings are just there to help warn of potential problems which might not actually develop into real problems: For example, trying to remove tint when no tint has been applied results in a warning message, but no bugs result in the game. It just meant that something non-existant was attempted to be removed...

UPDATE: It took a bit longer and a bit more feedback from the students to get the game good enough (hopefully) for hosting on the site...A lot of playtesting from the kids pointed out the obvious (just not to me) flaws and demanded a bunch of major design overhauls...

Well anyways, the first game from the mighty forge of Future Friends (the school I own here in Japan) is uploaded for review and possible hosting...

I really hope I can post a link here soon to play the game as it has been over a month in development with the kids and also about 30 hours of my spare time figuring out how to properly represent our vision of the game within the framework of the engine...

So yeah...stay posted...for the pending publication of:

Super Beasts

ROFL Pindo: I love the deceptively tiny package that arrived for me. I had no idea Mr. T worked for FedEx. How the heck did they hide the fact that the job involves flying from him?! Oh wait, they flew all the time in the show and he never saw it coming. Also: Did you actually print out a copy of that invoice and burn it or is that a digital composite? I honsetly cannot tell. Cheers for the souvenir mate! I will add to top post as soon as I can find the time to open all those windows again... (laugh)

Misj': Amazing entry: If you don't already have a job at Disney/Dreamworks maybe you should consider applying?! And yeah, it seems that a lot of my guidelines are a bit useless once the creative geniuses we have around here do their own takes on the theme, but that's fine too and even better if we can be as pleasantly surprised by those new perspectives as we have been so far! As for the voting thing: I don't think it's a rule change as such. I just kind of assumed the the host should choose the method of deciding winners. I prefer voting as it gets the community involved and maybe more people will view the amazing work being done. If future hosts want to use the host-as-judge method again then I'm fine with that. As for you wishing for your work to remain your own property: That's totally cool, and I will add that factor to the first post.
