Hello fine folks!

I'm frustrated because one damn character won't play the speech recorded for his lines!

I thought maybe it's because I'd named him "Prostop" and theres a different character called "Pro", that maybe AGS is getting confused. it plays Pro's lines fine, but not Prostop. However if this was the case, why does the two characters "Deaf" and "Dea" work okay with their speech? Have I given it too many characters in the save name? I swear it said first 3 characters for save files but then I'd be screwed with "Deaf" and "Dea" so I tried 4 and it was fine..

UPDATE: I tried "Pros" and its working now. Well, I guess just typing this out made me think about character lengths. Still swear it said 3 characters though.. Moderator can delete this thread if they want!

What the hell?!!

I was walking back and forth testing a hotspot when running the game within the program. Then clicked look at an object and the line the EGO would say disappeared as soon as it appeared. Then I tried clicking on other things and talking to a character, it all skipped by really fast. I've never seen it do this before but I am concerned. Any theories? It was almost like as if I was clicking to skip it when I wasn't. I'm using a windows 8 laptop if that's relevant. I've been working on my game since the start of January with the latest version of AGS, and the game itself is from an older version. I've been testing it loads and never had that happen.

Thanks

Hello, old timer ManicMatt here. I have been able to retrieve my old game in progress from years ago (Long story) and I have EGO talk to a character, run script 20, then the game crashes if EGO doesn't and says the character doesn't have the inventory items. I want the game to check if EGO has all three, then the next line of script kicks in, otherwise he says something else and we are returned to the dialogue options.  Please help! I searched the forums but strangely couldn't find an answer! (I've been at this for hours!)

Code: ags

if (value==20){
if (player.ActiveInventory == inventory[26]) player.ActiveInventory = inventory[21]; player.ActiveInventory = inventory[18];
 character[EGO].Say("I have all three!");
}
else {
  character[EGO].Say("I haven't got all three!");
}

Hello fresh faces and old timers who remember me.

I am the creator of Secrets and was making a game called Limbo but took a hiatus from it. Well then Limbo came out,THAT Limbo, a good game but damn! Now I want to carry on but my pc is in my parents house until I have my own house, typical. Although it  will have to be called something else now. Sob!

Meanwhile, my girlfriend let me use her pc to put together my stop motion and video footage to make a funny music video. Perhaps, i am told, so entertaining that some pay no attention to the music. Whoops!

I keep saying this but I do regret not chilling out here much at all.

Though I cant even play AGS games on her pc, doh! (typing from my phone) I saw an android ags player but it doesnt give me a download, just bunch of filenames. hmmm.

oh right, the link! Please watch it! http://youtu.be/TWQ_wS0Ttwg

Hello! Anyone here remember my music? Well this is a spam post. I mean, well it is. Well that's what the net calls it. I call it "wanting people to see my music and how are they gonna know that unless I tell people". Although I don't go as far as spamming other musician's facebook pages and all that. That ain't cool. So if anyone remembers "No one Knows" with my colour changing head or "Stuck Together" with two versions of me, there is a new video now with me being moody in a deserted building and shouting at the camera. Oh and a funky guitar that changes colour. Simple trick, but I ain't seen it elsewhere! So please have a watch of my amateur video and spot the mistakes that I can't do anything about! Aw, go on!

Anyone played it? hello, anyone?

Well it came out today in the UK, and I must say I'm rather enjoying it! It's an adventure game where you go around talking to people and solving clues. I like the idea that the main character has a Time pen that at certain times when he's got enough clues, he can literally draw a hole in time and see what happened at a certain point in the past and be able to affect it, via the confines of that hole he made.

It's nicely drawn, lovingly made, the cutscenes have speech and are fully animated like a cartoon- goodness knows how they compress that on to those cartridges - and I bought it without reading one review.. a faith in Konami if you will.

The concept kind of reminds me of the Shadow Of memories game on the PS2. Which is also by PS2. (And goes by a different name in USA I think..)

I just read this on a wiki:
The game was written by Junko Kawano, whose Playstation 2 work Shadow of Memories also features a young man using a time-travelling device to try and alter their future.

Someone traded this game in at my shop, for the psone, so I took it home to play.

So theres not much in the way of actual gameplay here, but it's interesting anyway, but then they stuck this board game thing in at the end, and no matter what move I make I lose. This seems impossible, the main character even shouted "this is rigged!"

So now I will hate this game forever.

The end.

You played it? Your thoughts?

Perhaps someone can help me?

I want to hook my guitar up to my pc and record through fruity loops, much like I do with my microphone. I used a headphone socket adaptor into phono leads and plugged the phono leads into the small mic adaptor into the pc, which shouldnt affect me too much. Anyway, I get the sound through, but it's distorted and has a constant buzzing noise, much like you'd hear when turning the amp on really. I managed to lower the distortion a bit by turning the volume down as much as I could, but I still have the noise.

How do I get rid of the noise and get a clear sound through to my pc?

Any advice? I'm open to trying a different method to record my guitar to my pc.

(True, I'm not quite skilled enough on the guitar to record for public listening yet, but I want to record my ideas down with lyrics and see it grow from there)

Thanks!

First there was the Nintendo DS. Then came the sleeker DS Lite. And now, it's the DSi! It's been selling like hotcakes with gold on them in Japan, and I've only just heard about it! I thought to myself, oh no, they're going to make my DS seem crap like the old style, arent they?

Looks a bit 1980's now.

Looks nice!

Another DS Lite. Oh, wait.. that's the new one. My bad.

Well.. lets see now. It now comes with a camera. Great, just what I always wanted. My phone's camera has 3.2 megapixels. The DSi has a whopping 0.3 megapixels! That's incredible! Wait.. 0.3.. that must be a bit shit then. Well can't complain, it's a nice little extra. But theres a catch! In order to fit the camera into the device (Apparently), they removed the GameBoy advance cartridge slot! So chuck all those old games away folks, and look to the future, because Nintendo said so.

It also comes with a slot for an SD card so you can play music and save your photos onto one. Yeah great, I have an mp3 player for that, thanks.

ooh, a bigger screen. A bit. That's actually good, but not worth trading in my old DS Lite for, especially as I'd lose my gameboy compatibility, and I already have a camera on my phone, and I already have a good quality mp3 player.

So will the DSi sell amazingly well over here? Probably, although tons of people werent happy with the PS3's lack of a ps2 hardware chip, so I do wonder. (In the UK, it was removed from the PS3)

If I had one device that was a phone, mp3 player, gaming system and camera in one, that does sound pretty funky, but I'd have to charge it up every bloody day, wouldn't I? And then the battery won't last very long. So I think I'll stick to having seperate devices! Plus if I lose it, I've lost them all!

Yes I can see why Nintendo have done this; it's obviously to compete with some other device out there, like an Apple device or something.

Your thoughts?

Last month, there was a radio interview between Hardeep Singh Kohli and Les Ross:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/mediamonkeyblog/2008/sep/23/radio
I listened to it, and it was painful yet funny at the same time! Like an Alan Partridge homage, as the article says.

Listen to that if it interests you, then read this: (Which I sent to Hardeep himself as a piss-take of Ross)

If the BBC fired him, he can always go for an interview at.. Game. Yes, Game, the videogame shop. And here is how the interview would go:

MANAGER: "So, Mr Ross? Nice to meet you."
ROSS: "Is that a French accent? So are you British-French or French-British? Because it's very important to know these days!"
MANAGER: "Eh? I'm canadian if you must know. But I don't see how that is relevant."
ROSS: "Hehe! I agree with you!"
MANAGER: "... So anyway, what interests you in working for Game?"
ROSS: "Well now, Dominoes! What a classic board game!"
MANAGER: "Errr.. we sell computer and videogames, not board games."
ROSS: "Oh, well I'm British, so I'm an idiot and don't research anything!"
RANDOM BRITISH PERSON: "Hey! I resent that implication!"
ROSS: "HAHA!!! THIS IS GREAT FUN!!!"
MANAGER: "Mr Ross!! You're not here to have fun! If you cannot say anything intelligent, then please leave the-
ROSS: "BYE!!!"
MANAGER: "Idiot."

Adventure Related Talk & Chat / So Blonde
Fri 10/10/2008 21:39:20
Finally, the game So Blonde has been released!

The story was written by Steve Ince (Broken Sword)

I've been playing it for an hour, and it's great! Quick loading times *Shakes fist at Jack Keane* and highly polished, it's nice to be able to play an adventure game that feels like it's been made my pros and not amateurs *Stares at Ankh*. It's simply a joy to play.  :)

Has anyone else here bought it yet?

*Potential plot spoilers for Infinite Undiscovery! Although I've been very vague so you might be okay! But don't blame me otherwise!*

Do you ever find yourself enjoying a game and then it throws something into the mix and suddenly you take relish in the thought of snapping the disc in half? Of course you do!

There I was, happily playing when I found myself in a jungle. A jungle with seemingly random warp barriers everywhere that keep teleporting you back to an earlier point. For hours, I tried, till I thought "sod this" and looked up a guide:

Simple enough! *choke* okay if I go here.. then here.. okay. I finally get to the finish!

So i move on. Oh but no, then my characters find they can turn evil if they're exposed to something for too long and attack me due to a plot point I won't spoil for you. So I have to backtrack through this jungle fighting enemies, and I've been given something to stop my friends from going mental and killing us all. Except the item isnt explained very well, and using it doesnt have much effect. and when they go mad I can't even touch them. So I've now got to go to someplace north of this forest. Whilst watching my back on these allies. And fighting monsters. Suffice to say I died. So I forget them lot, and go out with my pet bear who won't turn evil. But can I find the north exit? Nope. ARGH!! This isn't worth the nuisance!! This is going to be the first second hand copy in my shop..

Anyway! Name a game that pissed you off loads, and how!

Due to legal reasons my shop is playing my own music and nothing else. The problem is, I need unsigned music to play! And all I have is my 1 album, playing on repeat! I'll get sick of my own music in no time at all!

I don't own the shop so this problem is out of my hands until the company does something!

So I'm asking you, please give me links to any music you have made that is unsigned, that you give me permission to use in my shop to play in public.

Thanking you in advance!

My friend wants to buy some headphones, he's a big music fan. Loves Radiohead. But he's not sure which of the two he should go for on this website. I figured some of you guys and gals are real clever when it comes to this sort of stuff, so could you advice us please? We want to know if the more expensive ones are worth getting over the cheaper ones, if the price is justifiable or not. he tells me he has a good system set up for his music.

Let's see how well or crap I made this lookalike of a certain film star! Who is it and what film is his look based on?

I'm using this character in Mass Effect! I've played through to the end as a good guy, and now again as a badass with the above character. Not as good as Star Wars KOTOR 1 if you ask me, the planets you explore are disapointing and there's too much time spent in the Mako, a jeep/tank thing you drive around and shoot in. I still liked it however, hence the replaying of the game. They give you choices to make, but most of the time you're either gonna pick all the nice things to say or be evil, and if you start being good at one point and then go evil your man/woman will just seem out of character or maybe they have multiple personalities! Maybe I'm being too harsh on this game, but that's what happens when games are hyped up with big promises and don't quite deliver.

General Discussion / Why I hate the Wii!
Wed 28/11/2007 23:16:44
This was me in my videogame shop in the past six months:

Customer: "Do you have any Wiis?"
Matt: "Sorry, none."
Customer: "Do you know when you'll be getting any in?"
Matt: "I don't know I'm afraid."

Imagine that conversation, being asked to you, now every 20 minutes in the past few months, 5 days a week. Infuriating, huh? The frequency has been increasing as we get closer to christmas.

So I created a sign! It's on my counter and it reads:

"Sorry, we don't have any Nintendo Wiis in stock"

And next to that, an additional sign:

"...And we don't know when we'll get any in!"

So every 20 minutes I just point at the first sign, and sometimes have to point out the second sign! It makes some people laugh actually. It stops me from going insane!

I've also had to unhook the phone sometimes because 100% of the calls getting through would be Wii enquires.

Please Mr Nintendo, make enough stock of your Wiis and DS Lites and make more profit and keep us shopkeepers sane!

Rant over. Discuss your opinion if you like!

Hello,

I am trying to run Douglas Adam's Starship Titanic. I can install the game, start the game, but as soon as I put a cd into a computer (In the game, not real life), the loading screen on the monitor in the game comes up, but then I am taken to the desktop, with this error message and the music is doing that awful error noise when it stutters indefinetly on the same bit of sound:

Ive already used the old codec to make the animation work in the game, that I found out from googling it in the first place.

I can't see any mention on google at all about this .DLL and starship Titanic. Any clues anyone?

(I wonder if I'll get these other old games I got to work...)

I want as many people to hear my music as possible, so hear it is, FREE, on my basic website! (And boy, is it basic)

Click me!

Let me know what you think! (About the music, not the website!)

There are some tracks on the site that you can stream to get a listen first. It is electronic music, so probably for fans of Depeche Mode, Goldfrapp, Gary Numan, Erasure etc etc

Cheers

Guys!

In my shop, GameWorld:

Someone traded in Monkey Island 1 & 2 in a box, white label range. I havent the foggiest idea what price tag to put on that!

Same for Loom in a jewel case. (Talkie version)

I don't think 7th guest is worth much at all.

Also, I had Sam n Max + Day of the tentacle in at 14.99 but no one wants to buy it... made it 11.99, still no takers! Madness!
Thanks!

Hello!

I've had this song in the wings for ages. Vict0r and Nikolas will recognise it. The song is called "Breakdown", and my issue with the song is that it sounds to me like it's missing something, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I figured it might be bass in the verses (Chorus is more or less fine), but I just can't get a bass to work with it! Also, disregard the piano jabs at the last chorus, it doesnt work and will be cut out in the end. If the song has an extra bit at the end as well, just pretend that's not there!

This song was made before "No one knows" and "Stuck Together".

Thanks for any feedback! That is, actual constructive feedback, thanks.

EDIT: Nikolas was kind enough to upload the song to his space! :)
