Yay my game Secrets was mentioned!  :D Thanks!

Ah so Half-life is a word. How embarrased am I?

I knew what Deus Ex means.  8)

How many people knew what Anachronox was before Steve googled it?  (I'm pulling your leg!)

"Pandemonium"? I think that's a PSone game!

I also remember a "fatman" platform game on the Amiga!

Edit: Nikolas, this website was where I found myself from google, who test for bad sites.

Yeah I didnt explain myself, I was just naming things for the sake of it.

I like the name "Half-life", but it is like, kinda weird as it's not a word, is all!

Here's another game: "Anachronox" Who the hell is gonna remember that? What does it mean?

Deus Ex is my fave games maybe, ever, but I still forget how to pronounce the bloody thing. Hard to pronounce titles: Bad idea.

Turns out, after being so damn careful with my own game name, someone else is making a game by the same name. So "limbo" is probably a good name, then! A big name developer is making it, some platformer. I'm keeping my name dammit! I carefully combed the net (via google) when I used the name in the first place! Don't you dare copyright it argh!!

"Beyond good and evil" - Cheesy name, a flop of a game. (A good game, but still)

"Half life 2" - Weird name, popular title.

"Okami" - Commonly mispronounced game that nobody knows about despte getting rave reviews everywhere.

Just a thought.

You'll be able to see any progress I've made at making games when mine is done (In oh a million years from now) if you'd played my first and only game.

My macaroni cheese is done, excuse me.

Yup, yup.

Let's say you release "White pig's revenge" (Totally random title!) to the general public, a game you rushed out with no afterthought. Everyone hates it and resents you for wasting their time.

Now you go and release "Nelly Spookalot", an excellent title that you put all your energy into. Nobody plays it because they played the previous game, and thus, you failed to look after your REPUTATION.

I think it breathes more life into the characters.

I certainly wouldn't have gave Manny (Grim Fandango, thats his name right?) that accent if I was just reading his speech!

Also, there's no chance of you miscontruing the emotion in what was said. As many have said,
it's hard to detect sarcasm in pure text.

The "new" thing is a button?

I had no idea! Just took it as a notification. Seriously!

Don't tell me that!

I want it to be a trilogy. I feel that anymore will just feel too rehashed and feel stale. Short and sweet, ta.

Besides, I've purposely not bought the last two on DVD because you just KNOW they will release it as a boxset trilogy pack.

AGS Games in Production / Re: games galore!

Sounds good!

Lets see now.. I'd make a bunch of FPS games, and then release the odd adventure game, so the FPS bring the moolah in. Ooh and underpay ProgZmax!

And call my company "Assholes inc" for a laugh. or swear words. Like those games where when I'm bored of them, I'll name my character "you bastard", like I did in FF7 once.

Storyline is a very strong element in an RPG, but you are missing another strong element: The addiction. Levelling up your characters gives you a sense of achievement, and it becomes an addiction to make them the strongest bastards in hell. I'm sure someone could word this better than me.. also, doing side quests. For me that is a lot of fun, to stray from the main quest and do little fun errands. (Note the "fun" part. Fun errands, not boring ones)

Anyways.. World of Warcraft. I'm guessing that has little to no storyline, yet millions are glued to it.

I guess it boils down to personal preference then. I would rather know if a game was well made rather than being told it's brilliant by hardcore fanatic RPG fan Jane Smith, who loved Shadow Fantasy VII to bits because she likes even poorly made RPGs because shes nuts about them. (That being a made up game and person)

I agree that you should find a magazine that usually agrees with you on what games they like.

Yeah, usually AGA.

Ghormak, that's totally the opposite of what I am saying. I don't like golf games, yet I could try and sit down and play a bunch of them and would be able to tell you which ones were well made, accurate and would be fun for a golf loving game player. I had one of the Tiger Woods games, and I could tell it was an excellent title, that was well made and has good physics, plenty of courses and a good challenge, however golf isn't for me.

Elsewhere, outlaw golf isn't very good, but it offers an arcade-ish approach to the genre, for those looking for something fresh in their golf after playing a million tiger woods games. If you don't mind the silly characters.

BASS style indeed, however this looks far more promising than anything Revolution have farted out of their arses in the past five years!

I really dislike Myst. Infact I can't stand it. If I was biased I'd give it 55%, and mention that there isn't any people in the game and the puzzles are too hard.

But there isn't supposed to be any people and the puzzles are intentionally designed to be that way.

That is why I feel biasm has little place in a review.

Most of us may like Monkey Island, but some people think it's a terrible game and doesn't interest them. Would they give it 30% because it's not their cup of tea? Shall they be biased?

Yeah, sure the plot went really strange, but OVERALL the game was a hell of a lot of fun.

You can't give a game a score lower than 6/10 for having a shit storyline, you need more justification than that. Tell me where the game fails in gameplay mechanics and design, in presentation and ideas.

You're so far proving my point about being biast. To you personally, the storyline seems to be the key element of the game, and if that fails then it all fails. This is not a fair review. It's not an adventure game!

I'm confused now, are you Chicky or Yufster?

I'm thinking the latter.

I doubt weed is the reason, but it IS relevant to tell the doctor you take it. Eh.. smoke it, whatever.

The art of a good reviewer is to be non-biased. I don't like many racing games, but I can easily tell you which ones are good or not. Which ones have good handling, and good AI.

From this website you refer to:

"many reviewers -- and this also ties into the whole “hype” thing -- are terrified at the prospect of negatively reviewing a game in a popular franchise. Even if it's flawed to the point of mediocrity (a la MGS2, which I enjoyed but would not rate higher than a 6)"

First of all MGS2 was a fantastic game, with incredible attention to detail. I wonder why they'd give it such a low score.

Second of all, I only read PSM3 magazine, and I can tell they're not "pussies". For example, EA's new Def Jam game was reviewed this month, and received around 47%. They liked the last PS2 one, giving it around the 80% mark. Clearly not pressured by EA there. Official playstation 2 magazine gave Tomb Raider: Angel of Death (?) a massive score saying how great it is. They later regretted rating it so highly when it was clear to everyone it was crap. I do wonder...
