The Rumpus Room / Re: How did you find AGS?
Sat 10/03/2007 21:29:28
Blimey, that was a long story! For those who can't be arsed to read all that:

Psychonauts = Tim Schaefer = Grim Fandango = Free adventure games = AGS

I'm not convinced Ebay was the cheapest way to get Grim Fandango though. Although you did get a sealed copy at least. Was it the budget version though?

Finally, you wouldn't have been physically able to reach the laser in your xbox console without using a crowbar, so no regrets there. (Except for the bashing part)

Hire out a bodyguard, duh.

One that has a cat bodyguard, as well.

I did actually laugh there mate! And the characters look way more lively now!

The joke might be understood by those who have seen your previous efforts, as the art is so notice-ably(sp) different. I'd rephrase the first speech bubble though! Steer clear of overly used internet speech, for example.

"WOW! Look at the new design! Clean outlines! Real speech bubbles! And we've been drawn better!"

Something a bit like that.

I like where this is going though! Keep it up!

Why do either of you argue? You're both very picky about your own subjects and must be absolutely correct about it, and can't admit when you're wrong, so both of you, agree to disagree! *slaps you both about for a bit*  :P  :=

EDIT: Oh, and BB, Beckham would then be called a "professional footballer", no?

I am pleased to see you're taking the advice given to you!

I like the cleaner style!

Sadly, that is an old joke though.

Can I make a suggestion? When it comes to drawing their eyes, don't use the line tool, ever. Look again at Renal's strip. Those eyes are slanted, not utterly straight. This gives them more character. Your eyes look too computerised and don't fit in with the whole blobby theme.

I could take that guy on!

I'd just run rings around him and poke at him until he bursts!

Trust is the sort of thing I will find in Asda...

I went with wacom myself.

And as people have said, the whole battery in a pen thing sucks.

He'd have to go out to buy a new battery, yes? And the weight makes it uncomfortable to use.

You didn't have to PM me about your release, I check the completed games forum you know! That's almost spam!

But anyway, I have too many games on my plate right now to play this.. or any AGS games right now! Sorry! It will be on my list of games to get round to!
#1369
Ah yes, the game based on the movie based on the game.

Looks like a poor man's mortal kombat.

Combat Academy
Going Overboard

You got these in one of those multiple film packs, right? I've seen both of these around the same time, when someone in my family paid.. ooh.. at least a pound for them. They want their pound back.

Has anyone mentioned the Street Fighter movie yet? (Not the brilliant anime one, the one with Van Damme in it.)

Yay people and more interesting locations than your previous efforts! Did you ditch that last game then?
#1372
That's not any funnier than Fluke's jokes, imo. Although seeing the yellow one skipping made me laugh!

HERCULES IN NEW YORK!

Doh! I was going to mention this very film! it was on the other day!

Arnold's acting is so piss poor, even more than later on in his career! He looks like he's reading the lines in front of him!

Except when Hercules talks on the radio, he needs a bit of emotion,so they got another actor to talk for him. The actor didn't even have his accent!

In olympus, you can hear the traffic of cars and buses in the distance. Did they film this in a park in london? they did?

It is more than likely that GAME would receive dummy sleeves for the big titles, in which case they could put out fake boxes on the shelves. For Final Fantasy XII at our Wigston branch (20 copies of the game), I used the sleeves to make six dummy boxes to put on the shelf. But of course, GAME just don't give a shit.
#1378
So.. basically the people that played your game were actually used as beta testers before you put a price tag on essentially the same game?

EDIT: Ah, you didn't know your game would be picked up? My bad.

DOUBLE EDIT: Hmph, their website is awfully designed. Well good luck with that.
#1379
Leave this to me Limping one, I run a gameshop!

Because if you leave the boxes out with it's innards, people will help themselves without paying for it.

Now if I have more than one new copy of a game I shall make sure that only one copy is emptied, and then sell the sealed ones first.

But my store tends to only have one of each... then we just re-order.

I know what you mean though, I love to have a nice sealed copy. (And working in a gameshop, I can!  :P  ;) )

Now look here fussy labelling people!

Consider this!

You have Metal, Dance, Rock and pop. (etc)

Then you have genres within those genres.

This keeps things nice and tidy, without confusing people who aren't into that genre themselves.

I personally will consider music that is too heavy to be rock, to be metal. Usually. Unless it's too heavy to be metal...

Mr Hyde is right, labelling is dumb. It's only really useful if you want to describe the overall sound of a particular band. Distinguishing it between dance and metal. Do you expect me to tell you band X is a 180bpm-ish on average band with cheery lyrics and guitars that play within mostly the c range? Or just call it punk pop? (Or admit my lack of ability to describe that perhaps)
