"I'm just pming you to say I'm sorry for being a dick. I have no idea why paki offends you but apparently there's a reason."

Hey look skyfire apologised! By sending me a PM with the very word that offends me in it. What a complete and utter git. I think I will insult him back in a PM, and then block him so I get the last word in. I'm sure that will annoy him greatly!

Hmm should I believe a liar like Skyfire? Skyfire the liar! That rhymes!

Skyfire sent me an interesting PM not long ago:

"Did your daddy touch your penis while saying "Paki" when you were little or something?"

To which I replied:

"What is your intention with asking me this? What do you hope to achieve? I request that you please desist with such comments."

To which he replied:

"You are crying about something that is completely ridiculous and the only thing that I can conjure up is that it must be related to a hideous crime such as molestation."

To which I replied!:

"I suppose it would seem ridiculous to racist scum like yourself."

What ever will he say next! I can barely contain my excitement!

Not very mature of me to post this, but if the moderators really have a problem with it go ahead and delete it.  :)

EDIT: Wait, I got a reply!

"At least racists don't run around with socks in their pants.  Wink"

Huh? That was almost a friendly mock. I don't get him.

(Mr) Lif rocks!

Oh, yes. The game! Looks alright, that! I like the main character!

I know this isn't critic's lounge, but might I suggest you try and hand-write the words
on the buildings instead of using computer text?

Vict0r said I really should come and look at the posts here as "They make good points" since I said I wouldn't look at it. (Probably quite a few posts have been made since he said that, mind)

I took his advice and here I am. Yes I got mad and I apologise to Erenan for going crazy like that. (Living up to my username though. Joke.) It wasn't intended at solely him when I got upset, it was all the comments before that with the word used all chucked into the metaphorical boiling pot.

Yes, the p word was coined by racist people (Probably white) in Britain to use in a derogatory and offensive manner in the 1960's, against anyone who had the same skin colour as a pakistani. It was around that time the UK had people from Pakistani and other countries immigrating to this country.

I thought it was obvious why I find it offensive. Throughout my life it has been used offensively against the people I've grown up with. I do not wish to go into details, for it will just upset me even more to relive those moments in my mind. I didn't grow up hearing anyone use the "n" word in my company, so it does not offend on a deep personal level. Still offends me, though. Just doesn't upset me.

After some people saw my outburst on here, on mirc they thought it would be funny to type that word for me to see, knowing it bothers me. I find this act intolerable. A certain member, who I will not name, for example, thought it would be oh so funny to tell Roger to tell me that "p" word around 25 times.

I'd point out that you're likely to offend lots more people by shouting "Fucking hell!" and yet you don't seem to have any qualms with that at all.

That is offensive in an entirely different manner.

I am ignoring this thread now, as I do not want to read that fucking word again. I will NOT justify WHY, I WILL not explain my fucking past, maybe everything is all roses where you are. lalala!!!! So fucking perfect whooooooooooo!!!!!!Hey why not send me a PM with that word in it, really get to me!!!! You have to wonder WHY the word hurts me so, you have to wonder
what it is that has made such as word strike pain and sorrow into my heart, and wonder you shall as Im not talking about it! Now drop it!

General Discussion / Re: Bookcrossing!
Tue 28/11/2006 17:53:57
Wow, I remember book crossing! I forgot people would do that.

But I don't read books anymore. Oh well. When I was at school I read ALL of the books in the somewhat small book collection. (However no one else had read that many)

Although if you asked Mrs White my teacher, a hag and a bitch, she'd say I didn't read one certain book, but I did. I couldn't understand it though, and just because I didn't understand it she'd acuse my of lying and make me read it again thinking I'd never bothered. The bitch.

Yes, not saving JPEG. I was wrong there. Save in any format that allows you to keep layers and everything.

The point with JPEG is that you lose a lot of quality, and if they used paint to make these backgrounds it saves in a lower quality JPEG than Photoshop by default and causes those smudges to appear. (I only ever save in JPEG if it's a snapshot of my desktop to show someone something, pretty much)

Oh yeah psychonauts! Still, that game was rather wacky, so would this one be wacky too?

"Life On Mars" (What a strange title) was good!

Sort of spoiler for the show, but without revealing details.
Spoiler

I was annoyed that it ended with the idea of making a second series though. As just one series, it would have been better, and I would have bought the DVD boxset.

Critics' Lounge / Re: Orchestral work
Mon 27/11/2006 14:30:52
The first movement I loved! But the second movement (If I am understanding Nikolas right) I agree with Nikolas that it's somewhat... not as interesting, I'll say.

It's interesting to hear what Nikolas says, as I use flutes and violins in some of my songs, and I don't know an awful lot about them.

Most of what Nikolas said, I'd have to take his word for, as my ears are not trained to hear such things. So from a casual listener's ears, it's very good! Mixing is good too. Mixing, my ears are a bit trained for!

This piece reminded me of Final Fantasy! Well games and flims are really the only times I hear classical music!

Hmm maybe I should persist, but I was put off playing it as soon as I realised I had to do something with those pill things. Too much work, looking at it, and the menu.

So, fantastic graphics, brilliant music, crazy and amusing dialogue, but just like your last game, Anna, I really don't like those sort of puzzles. It's put me right off.  :(

Still, this game is so fresh otherwise, and interesting, and mind-bending that everyone should play it just to see such originality!
#1731
Whoops I didn't know there was an updated version and played the previous one!

So the lock puzzle, I was stuck at, which you've fixed apparently, although I just figured there isn't that many combinations and fluked it without too much hassle. And the phone, you've also fixed haha.

Graphics, neat and pleasing to the eye! Real eye candy my friend! Music works better
than last version by a mile!

The.. surprise stuff in the game is really cool as well!

Spoiler
I was teased at the end, when I was thinking we got to play in the next location!

After playing a Tony Hawks skateboard game for sheer hours on end, I went on a bus to town. During the journey without thinking about it, I was looking at the buildings and things to see where there are potential skating lines I could achieve. Before thinking I can't actually skate so why am I thinking such things.

But thinking and doing is two different things.

Still, I've never found myself actually mimicking games, except maybe saying "Fo 'sho" like CJ does in GTA for a laugh. (No, not THAT CJ!)

They scared me when I was a kid and I don't like horror films.

I thought they weren't nightmares, but real nightmares, or something. Oh well..
#1734
Not claiming my game is "great", as that would be egotistical of me, but I suffered motivational issues, not creativity ones.

Still, to keep the making process interesting I would make sure it's varied. I know some people will just make all the backgrounds first, then the characters, then the scripting etc, but I did a bit of each thing at a time, so it never got boring. More or less, one room at a time. (Or area)

For inspiration to spark - with anything - for me, sitting down and thinking hard doesn't result in the best ideas. For me, the best ideas come to me when I'm relaxed and not trying to force it. Sometimes I'll just be in bed in the middle of the night and get an idea, and I have to write it down before I can sleep again. Or having a shower for some reason.

Dreamscape:

"When a subject dies in his sleep from a heart attack Alex Gardner becomes suspicious that another of the psychics is killing people in the dreams somehow and that is causing them to die in real life. He must find a way to stop the abuse of the power to enter dreams."

WHAT?!! My story I was writing about six years ago had people being killed in their dreams by a psycho, that killed them in real life, and a detective (Called James Lewton, surname being a nod to Discworld Noir) investigated, and then found himself in danger! Although mine was more horror orientated and had no psychics. ..glad I ditched it now..

The gameplay mechanics with the story sound interesting, but the actual dream about girl thing.. well let's just say a mate of mine told me two weeks ago that he'd come up with a story VERY similiar to your own, which makes me wonder if it's a coincidence or an overdone story? (He wants to do a film with the story)

Would dosbox work? Or is that too old an emulation?

And what about that windows emulation thingy in properties for the game, somewhere? You tried that?
#1738
I'm sure Inkoddi will lend you his hair.
#1739
You are clever in game making good!  ;)

Well I never! It's funny becuase I saw the samurai type game and wasn't interested in the slightest, and saw the other game and looked foward to playing it! Does that make me half interested in playing it? Um, no I'm all the more intrigued now!
#1740
Fucking hell Babar! Are you trying to de-sensitive me to the word or something, writing it a hundred times!  >:(

To answer your question, if people started calling lesbians "man" then it should be banned from being used in that context. "Man" has already been a known formal word for so long though it would be a context issue. The p word has, in my country, ONLY EVER been used in a bad way, and it's been a horrible thing to hear said by racists for the whole of my life. So it has no other meaning to me. So every damn time you write that down for me to read I get upset.  :'(

So it's never been used any other way, unlike man, so YES the word is really bad to say over here.
