Oh that selection tool with the cut out lines? I'll go try that out! At least for the noise effect!

The black lines around the table give it a cell shaded look! (Which is a very cartoony thing)

It looks very different in style to the other background though, but I prefer this one.

Nope, that can't be right! I put that big code in the top part of the global script like it asked, and put this following excerpt in the repeatingly executed room script file:

qDisplaySpeech(TRA, "hi there MAN!");
qDisplaySpeech(TRA, "hey Roger");
qDisplaySpeech(TRA, Delay(50));
qDisplaySpeech(TRA, "blah blah");

Not working... so I add above it:

qDisplaySpeech(int CharID, string message);

but don't know what to do with that...

(Should I be asking this in another thread?)

It doesn't bother me, but it might bother the developers of obscure, perhaps.

Dan's right, the character is too small in relation to the room.

Whenever I draw a background in my game I have a cut out of my char pasted temporarily in the background for scale comparison.

Now it looks like a virtual reality thing!

I think (amateur here) that the textures themselves were too photo realistic, and need to be cartoony themselves, say hand drawn?

My main problem was that I was using a cheap free gradient filler that came with that adventure game maker.

And the photoshop one just seems to gradient over the whole picture, because I don't know what I'm doing!

Oh! I miss Personal Paint on the Amiga! That was simple yet pro also! and I could animate on it! *Cries*

Okay! I'll get to work now!

This style reminds me of "Dreamweb" or Valhalla.

I couldn't possibly say about shading and perspectives..

I'm being a hypocrit in saying this, but it could do with some more colours, and less grey.

Your mattress frame looks like blood. How about some orange? And in the end result it should be animated.

My best advice is to wait for someone who is better at this stuff than me to tell you!

Yes yes, but it was weird to see someone acting just like me! (But going overboard with it)

Those games that defy all logic and piss you off. That bug up and force you back to the beggining of the race etc, and then ACCUSE you of not being good enough! GRRR it's enough to make me...

While the graphics look nice, if barren (Intentional?) the character looks familiar...?

Did you make him yourself? He looks like the fella from Obscure.

Also, the door looks way bigger than him.

I like the premise of the story!

I'm not sure, not being a moderator, but I think you're supposed to include two in game screens like the middle one, and I'm not sure if a keypad counts.

But keep it up! I'll be sure to download it when you have finished! :)

I'll edit the picture 2mrw then! (After work. Yes, I do have one of those, despite being seemingly on here all the while)

It's not a corner. The building with a ladder is where EGO (Or Jake) comes down from, is very tall, and the wall next to it is just a wall adjoined to it.

I will add the shadows, and tone down the brightness of the left hand building. (Which means editing two backgrounds for continuity)

I really like to hand draw everything, but sometimes I want straight lines, and that's why it's odd. I hate the circle tool because it doesn't appear where your cursor is, if you know what I mean!

Noise gradient? How do I do that in photoshop?

Hahaha!!! I got a bit like this playing games like "Haven" and "Evil twin"!

(Although I don't hit the tv, and I don't scream when dying in deathmatch games)

Okay just finished the game! (Man I'm on here too often since my disc drive got sent away for repairs..)

Who wrote the instrumental of the NIN song "hurt"?

I enjoyed the game. Missed having characters to talk to though. And.. not really understanding the point of the story. Well, maybe I do, but I won't write it here.

Nice enough graphics, attention to detail and puzzles were... were...

the push the key out of the door puzzle? The magnet through sewer grating puzzle? Why man WHY??? I'm hardly ruining the puzzles here when they are cliched. Other puzzles were good though. I just don't understand why you used two overused puzzles that anyone who has played adventure games before can easily solve.

I give it.. 7 out of ten!

(Keep in mind I'm a real tough critic!)

Hmm I use that Alt-X when testing my game and I've fudged it up and can't quit. (IE: stuck in a conversation)

Why isn't it reccomended?

I was only being brief! That's what the "etc" is about! I didn't want to get into massive detail!

Like the band Defenestration, who were still on the dole way after releasing their album.

This article still shows that the piracy of the albums will not feed the band. Even if their share is small.
