The Rumpus Room / Re: Name the Game

    Short memories haha.

I did think that was a weird entry, more like we were trying to work out the letters rather than actually recognising the image.

Right, Mandle get a handle on this, post a picture already! :P

Well, they certainly thought it was well known, so I disagree, but I don't make the rules!

Mandle: To be fair, that was my intention, even if the first one didn't have a subtitle and the second one did. I chose a name that was vague but also about following clues. It wasn't easy coming up with an original name!

Hobo: Thanks, and yeah SO much climbing in Uncharted 4! I wanted to do semi historical like in Broken Sword, but wasn't sure what subject matter to go for, until I was in a supermarket and from afar a magazine had the names PIRATES ablazoned across it, and I took it to be a sign! I looked into different pirates to find something I could use, and that Thomas Tew had a place in New Rhode Island gave me some ideas for locations. So yeah it's a mixture of genuine and made up.

In their defence, there's no actual clear rules for these games, but yes I agree it should be a game/film/tv show that's been released, otherwise we open the floodgates to cancelled games, films still being shot and so on. Also, please tell me that isn't a game you're promoting for!

(Author of pleughburgh, crikey, that was one of the first AGS games I played!)

Well hey, there was a game on the C64 called "Detective" so I wouldn't worry too much. It's hard to come up with an original title. My latest project didn't have a name until a few months into making it.

Interesting idea, I'm curous how it will come together. :)

I had a quick look at the video (i have ps4 games still in cellophane wrapper, don't take it to heart!) and that looks sweet! I like the incidental background music, it reminds me of the music on Phatt Island in Monkey Island 2.It doesn't sound like it, it's just the way it's composed.

AGS Games in Production / Re: The Rat Pack

The Rat Pack, ha, is there a Dean Martin-esque music score? Either way I like it.

If you lose, can you say "Rats!"

It's always cool to see unconventional games made in AGS!

LostTrainDude: Thanks! I sure will! :)

Captain D: Yeah, It's like Broken Sword Shadow of the Templars kind of title. I might stick to the full name come putting it on steam or making a Facebook page, but I'll keep it to the main title on this thread.

I'm 3rd/4th??

Dunno how I've managed that!

Ha, yeah I like it, although I'm thinking about just calling it Trails and Traces, should people think the game is just about a tomb?

It is my understanding that if someone was called a golliwog, they are referring to the dolls, which is unacceptable. The dolls themselves are considered to be racist by most people these days, and I only ever see them in places like Cornwall in small shops. They haven't changed the name because the dolls are generally considered taboo in the first place. So the word in itself as far as I'm aware isn't racist, hence why I have been typing it, it's the name of those dolls.

I haven't heard the word in any other context, in my experience, so I would be confused by someone saying "Oh my golliwogs", and take it to be as random as saying "oh my Rice Crispies!"

In 1695, Tew and his fellow pirates pursued a Mughal ship. His ship, The Amity, attacked the ship, the Fateh Muhammed. Tew was disemboweled by a cannon shot, and died instantly. Or did he?

Present day. Private Detective James Labbett takes a missing persons case, which unexpectedly leads to an adventure of discovering the truth of what happened to the pirate Thomas Tew, but he isn't the only one who has an interest..

General Discussion / Re: Incredibly sad news

Shocking, sad news. I didn't know them but they were fun company in the rumpus guessing games.

If anyone here is suffering from depression, you can PM me anytime to talk. In my twenties I attempted an overdose, but I am much better now, and happy to be alive.

Tom n Jerry?

Because it looks like a cartoon drawing when they do extra details. I think I can make out a russian logo of the hammer and sickle but that doesn't really help me personally.

Try looking for the solution by using the Yahoo Google search engine. :P

Anyway, I'm not familiar with the new iteration of Microsoft Paint, but looking online it looks like a bit of pain to make it transparent. Can I instead recommend a different program entirely - assuming you aren't using the 3D portion of Paint, GIMP?

it's free, and it has alpha transparency, plus many tools I doubt Google Paint has. Haha.

Get stuff on bluray next time, BT can't con you out of those!

I tried switching from Sky to BT, and I was without any Internet for about a month because BT couldn't get their Internet to work. They tried fobbing me off with excuses and saying to give them 48 hours every 48 hours or so.. .  so we cancelled it and went back to Sky, but they couldn't do anything until BT cleared it up.

It took us ringing THE CEO of BT to get s**t done.

I struggled to make it out on my laptop, so Stupot wasn't the only one.

I must remember how slow it can be on the AGS forums when I post my in progress game up! I'm commenting because this game looks like it deserves some attention! Good use of lighting, lovely graphics, and congratulations on releasing your game! ;-D
