Who said Thief? Yes! In Thief 3, there was a level where it was a haunted ship or something, and I was scared by the noises and vibe. I creeped through the entire level..
Spoiler
only to realise i could have ran through it, not a single enemy in the level.

The Rumpus Room / Re: What's on TV?

I can picture Dan Akroyd saying something like:

"Life can be full of mysteries, but in this particular case our team discover something they'll wish remained a mystery."

and each episode is an isolated case thats supernatural like the x-files, and I feel like I have seen several episodes of this back in the 90's, but can't for the life of me remember what it's called.

His coat seems weird to me at the bottom, how it's triangle shaped, like he is wearing a skirt?

Otherwise nice art, it's always impressive how people make so much detail with so little pixels.

x-files?

Thanks! I've lowered the height of the lamp post (and naturally the shadow too) and dimmed the tree a lot more.

Okay!
- Toned down the green in the tree, the blue in his tie and also the park sign green. (Oh shoot, I didn't change update his forward sprite here. In the seperate sprite file his tie matches the saturation of his right-down view)
- Changed his face angle, but using previous head tilt as an idle animation, which will look something like this gif:

- Desaturated my sky a little. Imported my sky into GIMP (I use Asesprite) and used the blend tool.
- Tried shadows, but a realistic shadow will cause problems, and a little shadow didn't look good. At least my attempts didn't. I also looked at games like Discworld 2, Broken Sword, Deponia.. none have shadows, so I guess it's not a big deal. I agree would look better with proper shadows, but then he'd say, stand next to a wall and his shadow won't change shape.
- His hands are exactly the same size because I DID copy and flip them. :P Must be an optical illusion!

Thanks everyone! I think my story will take us places where there are no trees nearby haha!

Thanks! My graphics have certainly improved over the years. :)

I deliberately went for no outlines, but he is very grey with his hair and clothes, so I'll make a conscious effort to not have lots of grey in the background like this image has.

Oops! I need to change his shoe colour, i changed it

Critics' Lounge / Background and two Sprites
Sun 01/04/2018 10:52:36
Alright, I drew this background and two angles of my main character, to get a feel for what my style will look like before I design the whole game. My character will have 8 direction angles, this is forward and down right.

I've provided two images, one without any sprites (Oh I plan on adding a person feeding pigeons on the bench, and the clouds are going to gently drift across the screen if I can recall how to do that in AGS or find out how on the forums. it's been a while..) ..and one with both to see them in their environment.

So feel free to crit both background and/or sprites before I do more backgrounds and sprite angles/animation. I work with layers on both background and sprites, something I never did in my previous two games.

I think with Darth's suggestions this will eleavate an already great looking style!

I was looking at the water, and personally I think it would look nicer with, what do you call it, feathering, antilising? Well I edited the right hand bit of water to show what I mean.

General Discussion / Re: the blender 3D thread
Sat 31/03/2018 14:36:39
Thanks! Yeah there was some fun in making the little details like the car park sign and the HMV storefront with stuff I like in the window or self plugging haha.

I wanted more moving cameras but it would take forever to render just a still on my 2014 laptop! Still, I achieved what I had set out to do! My music has also improved immensely from the days when Helm was a forum regular and didn't hold back on his opinion of my music haha. He was harsh but made constructive criticism amongst the mean words, so I did take something from it.

Wow guys! Even the unfinished stuff is impressive.

While I'm nowhere near your levels, I did learn how to use Blender purely to render a city, with a zeppelin and cars etc,  for my music video.

Hey CaptainD! How are you? Good to know you still frequent the AGS forums.

Yeah, if I can make a success out of it, I can rub it in their faces. (Was a privately owned company)

Alright AGS peeps! Some of you might remember me. I created Secrets and Limbo the Adventure Game with AGS. Last year, my job of ten years had turned sour, the poor working conditions had taken their toll on me physically, and I was also treated poorly and undervalued. The last straw was a paid for holiday being approved and then told I cannot take it nearer the date because another manager in a different branch had broken his hand playing football. So I resigned and had my holiday with my partner. (Who provided the 'voice' of Bishi!) Fortunately I had saved during that time and I am in a situation where I can try and make a go of it selling indie games. I started with a platformer in September using GDevelop. It was harder than I anticipated! It is finally finished, and on Steam due to be released in a few weeks. If it looks like fun to you, you can wishlist it! It has my typical humour, but I made it family friendly, with no swearing or gore.

Bishi and the Alien Slime Invasion Steam Page

As for my next game, and the reason I have suddenly popped up on the forums again, is fueled by my decision to work on another adventure game with AGS! When I have something to show, it'll appear in the production thread! Cheers!

Take a look at Primordia.

True, I bought that as well, but like most pc games I haven't got around to playing any for some time. Anyway, I was trying to say something positive believe it or not, ha.

Games with this much brown aren't usually good looking games, you broke the mould! Intriguing universe.
