I always wanted RPG maker for the playstation 2, but it needs a hard drive, so it'll never get released in the uk. And it's looking creaky now anyway..

(Don't want to make 2D rpgs)

Just been playing Keepsake. Ugh. The biggest puzzle in the game is working your head around the awful fixed camera angles and I was stuck for ages because I didnt know there was a staircase behind a wall where there was a railing in sight so it looked like it was closed off anyway. Grr.

Some of the angles are crazy, and unpractical. Ooh, it's a big dragon statue, lets have an angle where you can see the whole thing, who cares if you cant see anything else like doors and pathways.

I must defend my (wii fit-less) shop now! It has The Dig, Broken Sword 4, Leisure suit larry collection, eh.. stronghold, tunguska, dreamfall, carte blanch (?), and will have So Blonde when it comes out! Yes it has EA games in it too, you gotta please as many people as you can! Most asked release date for a game in my shop? Fifa 09. How exciting is that?

One customer just said to me "When is 09 out?" so I said "Jan 1st". He went "Ha ha. I mean for Fifa!" Oh how silly of me!

But I digress!

Yes, the Max Payne apartment jumping sucked. And I can't remember if it was in the first or second game, but there was a section where it was pitch black, with thin white drawn lines you had to stay on, and jump around. I fell off so many damn times (on xbox), it was so annoying! And had annoying baby screams to help annoy me more.

Domino, Music 3000 on ps2 is the best music making software on any console, although not as powerful or flexible as most decent pc music making software. But it did let you actually, compose, instead of picking pre-made loops, which is nice.

Haha, I love Oblivion, but I have to agree it's frustrating to go inside a random dungeon and get to the end of it, and wonder what the point of it all was.

PS - Vampire Night? hahaha. Go play Kengo Zero, it's brilliant.  ;)

*Potential plot spoilers for Infinite Undiscovery! Although I've been very vague so you might be okay! But don't blame me otherwise!*

Do you ever find yourself enjoying a game and then it throws something into the mix and suddenly you take relish in the thought of snapping the disc in half? Of course you do!

There I was, happily playing when I found myself in a jungle. A jungle with seemingly random warp barriers everywhere that keep teleporting you back to an earlier point. For hours, I tried, till I thought "sod this" and looked up a guide:

Simple enough! *choke* okay if I go here.. then here.. okay. I finally get to the finish!

So i move on. Oh but no, then my characters find they can turn evil if they're exposed to something for too long and attack me due to a plot point I won't spoil for you. So I have to backtrack through this jungle fighting enemies, and I've been given something to stop my friends from going mental and killing us all. Except the item isnt explained very well, and using it doesnt have much effect. and when they go mad I can't even touch them. So I've now got to go to someplace north of this forest. Whilst watching my back on these allies. And fighting monsters. Suffice to say I died. So I forget them lot, and go out with my pet bear who won't turn evil. But can I find the north exit? Nope. ARGH!! This isn't worth the nuisance!! This is going to be the first second hand copy in my shop..

Anyway! Name a game that pissed you off loads, and how!

General Discussion / Re: Anyone play guitar?
Tue 16/09/2008 20:14:14
I had a "guitar for dummies" dvd that was cheap off amazon and that was quite useful to get me started!

I first bought an acoustic guitar about 5 months ago, and recently bought an electric guitar. I prefer the melody I get from an acoustic, but the electric is easier to handle and play, and less of a strain on my fingers if I've been playing for a long period, as my fingers has not built up enough resistance yet. (Calouses)

My one tip though, is keep your chord holding nails short, as you need to use your fingertips for that chord action!

As for playing metal music to start with, that sounds a bit too fast and complex to begin with. Although I intend to play various style of music when I can say "I play the guitar!", I started off with simple campfire style songs, and I'm now trying indie type songs. When I can change chords fast enough, then I shall attempt Metallica speed songs! I do find learning lots of different songs at the same time to be more beneficial than just sticking to one song until I've perfected it.

yeah, I played a demo of "Belief and betrayal" and on most thing's I'd just select "use" and 90% of the time he'd say "No I don't think so.". The man is bare footed at the beginning, so lets use the shoes. "No I don't think so." Oh, okay. Well lets play that piano in his apartment and hear a little song. "No I don't think so." Oh.. well lets eat some cold pizza. "I don't think so." and so on. The main thing I wanted to implement in Limbo (When I go back to it next year.. maybe) is exactly what you guys miss in most commercial games these days. I want every single item in my characters inventory to be able to have a different response on every NPC, so you have fun goofing around.

No.

I can't let it grow anymore, I have to look respectable in my shop!

Is this the first example of a remake going backwards in terms of game evolution? (3D back to 2D P&C)

Simon the sorcerer 3D was/is being remade in 2D. Sorry to burst your bubble!

I like the guy that's nervous around girls and his pudding addiction! Very amusing, and quite random, especially the last frame!

Don't get the Gnawites comic where they go around causing mayhem. Is there anything to get? Seemed aimless but fun and cute at the same time!

I give you four out of five moustaches (Hey, where is the moustace emoticon? Damnit! Well, I guess this sideburns will have to do)

Thanks for mentioning my lil' ol' game!  :)

Yes, perhaps it was bad luck to call my game Limbo and then have it literally lost in limbo..

I haven't abandoned it. But nor have I touched it this year. Lets say, it's on a hiatus. I'm learning to play guitar, and play some games, plus my full time job, so sadly Limbo has been put aside until I have more free time to commit to it.

At least 2D games don't age as badly in the graphics department.

I'd like to play Simon the Sorcerer 3 to see what happens after 2, but those graphics are so badly aged now I am hoping that 2D remake will see the light of day. Looking at badly dated 3D characters ruins any immersion for me, and instead usually makes me laugh. At  least I can still happily enjoy the graphics in Maniac Mansion to a degree.
#933
Miguel, that's more like comparing blocky 2D monkey island 1 graphics to higher res 2D monkey island 3 graphics, isn't it?
#934
I don't want to know what Captain Rainbow is about, if I'm never going to play it!

Instead I shall remain excited about Fallout 3 and Fable 2.

And So Blonde looks cool. Although not making me gibberish with excitement like Fallout 3.

(Well at least I didn't say Gears of war 2, okay?!! Which I won't even buy..)

If you were to class Fahrenheit (Indigo prophey) as an adventure game, then it's a good example of how 3D matters for that game. Where as if they made a broken sword 5, I'd like it to be 2D, if all they've done with 3D so far is include climbing sections and dull block pushing puzzles.

Yes, using the controls in GK3 was like trying to control a wii remote with boxing gloves on, whilst having your arms tied behind your back.

Akatosh: I guess if you made the song in one day and then recorded the music from a sound recorder that would work! Or record each instrument seperately, hehe.

Lion Monkey: Show me your exporting menu before you press export, we can see if any settings are on that might mess it up?

Ah yes, I'd love to give my latest music album I created to myself from five years ago, and be that Matt 5 years ago and hear the music with a fresh perspective. Imagine playing your own adventure game with no memory of making it other than knowing it was you who made it?

Well, it's just that a game like the Matrix is really common; my shop gets someone attempting to sell me their copy of The Matrix on some format or other every week without fail!

*Note to self: Stop using the word "format" with customers. Most of them stare at me blankly until I say "which console?". Jesus.

Enter the Matrix
2002 FIFA World Cup

Ha, not surprised they got no bids! Fifa 2002 is ooh about 1.99 or less in my shop, and Enter the matrix is about a fiver, but about as popular as my arse after I've had a shit and not wiped yet.

Every Installer ever:

"Would you like to install this in the program directory?"

Sure! Why not! Lets have EVERYTHING in the program folder, that would make it so easy to find! Games folder? Pah! Stick it all in one place so I have tons all in one folder and can't find anything!

Has my girlfriend died? Wake up woman!
