Thank you. I'm almost proud of it :)

Fair warning though, I wouldn't offer to work on a remake of Maniac Mansion in that style if I were you. Night of the Meteor is proof of the sheer amount of work such a task would involve.

I know. I planned to make some short "tribute" game but still - I have some professional obligation and bills to pay. Notheless I feel wind in my sails and keep on drawing in spare time and make some short animation. As it's all "compatible" with the style I use on daily basis I probably reuse backgrounds and characters from time to time in my kid music videos as something completly different :) It's my personal goal: reimagine all the locations from Maniac Mansion, make some fanarts and if possible, animate it. I've storyboarded some of the sequences.
If there are some maniacs (what a cheesy pun ;) ) who would like to turn my artwork into game it's always wort to try. Failure is not the worst things in life :)

Hello... it's been a while :)
OK, will work on Bernard... Anyway: In the meantime I've realized that I simply cannot handle it all by myself so, convinced by others I refocused my fan art efforts to make a short animated fan film. Fake trailer or something like that as I have no idea if I'll be able to provide any decent voice acting.

So in my spare time between making another kid cartoons I'm doodling backgrounds and characters. If anyone would be interested in remaking Maniac Mansion game in this style (it resembles DOTT a bit but this is the way I draw on daily basis at work too) I'm open for collaboration. Here are few more or less complete artworks.

Hi!
I play with ASG from time to time but still have not enough time to fathom it properly. My daily job are animations for kids - I'm the co-creator of very popular kid songs channel in Poland and I've made few characters in style of my animations. I'm going to put them in some future kid videos as a little easter eggs (zero waste :) ) but also I'm trying to remake few rooms from the Maniac Mansion game. You know, to practice work with this engine. Probably without using all characters but once I started to draw (and to recycle) it was hard to stop and decided to drew them all. Still working on Jeff.

All graphics are made in neutral pose and all body (and some clothing) parts are on separate layers to be later imported and animated in Adobe After Effects (some of them still have markers on the joints  :) ). I always start with (sort of 3/4) pose and on that base I draw, if necessary, front, side, back view etc

I'm curious how do you guys find my renditions of beloved characters.

As an introvert who works at home, moves around on bike and does shopping no more than once a week I must say the fist weeks of lockdown was a best time of my life. No annoying guests or invitation to boring parties and being one of maybe 5 people in big mall was a memorable experience :)

I create kids animation so my branch wasn't hurt at all and even peaked a bit (we are badly wounded because of unfamous change of YouTube policy but that's a different story). I also bought more vinyl records than ever before - I just said I have to support local small entreprenours :D

Now I look at crowded malls, gathering (presidential election in Poland) and public transportation and see the most of people without masks. It will blow soon in our faces....

Is Kastchey also in? There's one on forums, lol ;)

First: "WTF is Kastchey and what it has to do with this game??" :) You ask about the character from Slavic (Russian to be specific) folklore or the monster from the Witcher? :) None of them I've seen in this game but maybe Pogwizd will include him in sequel :D :D

Wow, these boards look really nice! Did you use any bestiaries as a reference to make them?
I'm really happy that such things are made because in my opinion our country's dropped the ball on the folklore.
Also, I never heard of Chmurnik, so even if the kids didn't benefit from them, I just did :)

Seriously? Chmurnik aka Planetnik is one of the most common characters :)
I used many sources, mostly googlin (book of Zych & Vargas probably I had in hand for a moment).
Slavic mythology a "reversed engineering" in most part and partly completely new creations from the Romantic Period and 60s. Not much survived. Technicaly whole folklore in any place in the world is about the same: sex, weather and who's stealing food :)

A little off-top :) Once I started to draw some Slavic creatures for kids as part of educational program that did't work out.

Hah! You are absolutely right, I hadn't thought about that :)

Oops! I though it was a part of the parody (like anachronisms in American movies) :D Nevertheless - the puzzle was fun.
Spoiler

For me the key problem was finding the dictionary - I knew the French names beforw and tried to use the potato right when I found it.

Funnily enough, when making the font I was also using the chart you posted here https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=57465.msg636611226#msg636611226 :)

Kill me but I hade no idea where to put these remaining letters. ZAÅ»Ã"ŁĆ GĘŚLÄ,, JAŹŃ, M#$@cker!!! :D :D

I'll test your game tomorrow when I'll be home. Looks neat. I'm still on the stage of two room testing puzzles...

I would like Zak McKraken remade with no dead-ends and full voice acting and original orchestral music score.

I can dream can't I?!?!

...and Maniac Mansion. Preferably with visuals matching DOTT.

Niech bogowie zeÅ›lÄ... Ci nadobne dziewoje! :-D :-D :-D

You helped me to solve my problem: I couldn't locate where Ś,ś,Ż and ż should be placed

1) add project setting that determines which locale to save project files in, to keep things consistent and not rely on current system locale. (In this case all editor fields and script editor must input text in unicode probably)

I'll try to find someone who will translate this to human language for me.

AGS saves everything in ANSI. If you typed polish characters in the editor as unicode text, they are supposed to be converted to ANSI according to the current system locale. If system locale is not "Polish" these letters may become garbage.

The difference may depend on how different fields in the editor are keeping the text, how did you type or paste it in, and so forth.

These are suggestions on what may happen, but I cannot tell more without seeing the actual game (project or compiled) or knowing more details.

The fun part is that I have Polish system and Cat doesn't yet she does have (at least some of) the Polish characters and I don't. I could really live with this ANSI stuff and editing fonts if I'd only knew how to add those remaining letters (й,Šº,Šš,Š›). My plan B is to copy them to some different character codes that I don't use anyway and simply write all Polish texts "wrong".

I did an experiment which had an unexpected outcome:

I used the newest AGS Beta7, created a new game with BASS template and replaced all the fonts with this font.
Then I changed the overhotspot text of the glowing orb to "ZaмóŠ‚Ã,,‡ gÃ,,â,,¢slÃ,,… jaŠºŠ„ ZAŠ»à“ŠÃ,,† GÃ,,˜ŠšLÃ,,„ JAйŠÆ'" and added a player.Say with the same text to the orb interaction.

Now, the interesting thing is, for the player.Say, the text is displayed correctly, but the overhotspot text is complete garbage. So, I assume, this is not because of the font, but an AGS issue?

Now I'm even more puzzled.

"letters".... I always search for "fonts" and "characters". Anyway: with a little help of someone who's better in technical English I finaly got the core of this problem, started to edit the font and have another problem. I can't locate ANSI "substitutes" of 4 characters. Instead of other Polish letters the some characters are displayed but for these 4 only some rectangles. Any idea how to locate the right ones?

(This is my first cry for help here and sorry if the question is lame but I really read everything I could find here and still understand nothing. I'm learning AGS and so far had no bigger problems but this is something I stuck with.)

I import TTF with Polish characters but AGS doesn't see them. Could someone direct me to some step-by-step idiot-proof solution?

Waving a flag doesn't kill people. Marching and chanting and singing don't kill people.

As someone who lives in the country that lost 6.000.000 citizens I dare to say: all massive killings in last century started from chanting, marching and singins that no one stopped when it was possible. I know who was marching and chanting in 30s. And what they did next.

The amazing graphics where made by Marcin K. who joined the AGS community not even a month ago. A great debut, I'd say (nod)
If you like his work, you can find more on his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/mkozlinski

My contribution to this project was slightly exagerated by cat :) All I did war to reuse some graphics from my archives with few small drawings and animation.
It was a fun and pleasure to colaborate on this.
