If you want help and advice as to how to improve your characters, make a post in the Critic's Lounge.  People aren't going to respond to you here.
As for the rest of your post, I would suggest watching what you type, and making sure that's what you really want to say...

I recall from my psychology classes that there were five (or maybe that was six?) basic facial expressions that were recognizably near-identical in (nearly) every human society, and that corresponded to five basic emotions. IIRC the list goes happiness, fear, anger, surprise, and sadness. HTH.
I believe disgust is one of the universal facial  expressions as well (I'm majoring in psych, so I SHOULD know, but this really isn't my area ^_^)

There's been a lot of work done in psychology pertaining to making a catalogue of emotions.  Although I'm pretty sure there's no definitive answer, you might want to take a look at the literature in this area for ideas.  You can also check out the basic emotional expressions thing mentioned above.
Good luck! ^_^

Pardon me for this silly question, but um, does the horseman actually have to be riding a horse?  (Horses are hard to draw! ^_^)

I think it looks quite nice overall ^_^.Ã,  I like the small details, like the keystones in the window arches.

A few points:
-It seems a bit dark, as if it's night.Ã,  If it's during the day, you might want to brighten it up with some more colour
-I think the spacing between the fence spokes could use just a little bit of widening; as it is, it's a tad difficult to make out the stairs on the left
-the door is off-centre relative to the fence (if you want it symmetrical, that is.Ã,  In any case, it's not really a big problem ^_^)
-small nitpick: the pink curtains look more blurry than the curtains in the other two windows

It's looking good so far, keep at it ^_^

You can find out how to post images here: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/Themes/default/help/posting.english.html#bbcref

Or you can make a link to that website, that doesn't require any coding at all ^_^

Wow, all these entries are so cool... and then comes mine... *sigh* ^_^
I'm in the middle of The Game That Takes Place on a Cruise Ship, so here's the main character of that (Gertrude Zzyrgenhymer):

Don't worry--I wasn't around when those other competitions were running and I want to practice my spriting, so you will get at least one entry by me (crappy as it may be ^_^)

I'm a little unclear on what you mean when you say "Style : Street Fighter; Fatal Fury"... do you mean make the sprite as if they're a character in a fighting game, with fireballs and stuff like that?

It may have been meant for someone else, but that mini-tutorial will help me too.  Thank you for posting it ^_^

I think it would be better if you perhaps scrapped the window and added some other light source (candles, etc.).  It seems a bit strange for the king's throne to be in shadow, he should be more brightly lit, ya know? ^_^  Just my opinion.

If you want to keep the window, I don't think the light hitting the corner like that would result in a shadow that's in a straight line.  Some one else can probably give you better advice on that than I can, though.

Iris you mean the eyes?
Yes, I meant the coloured part of the eyes... but Desmond gave you lots of advice about the eyes already, so I won't talk anymore about that ^_^

I think that's really good for a first try at painting ^_^
In terms of crit, one thing I noticed is that the style seems a bit inconsistent in some areas, eg. the faces has some definition and loose shading, but the hair is a single colour and is more cartoony. Ã, The hat seems a bit blurry compared to the face. Ã, Also, I'm not sure if this was intentional, but he seems to have no irises.

You have a very nice start here, keep at it! ^_^

I think the wall would be more brick-like if you used rectangles instead of squares, and they overlap like so:
|___|___|___|
__|___|___|__

Hope that helps ^_^

I really like the dog as well, the loose colouring job you did really suits it and gives him/her texture.

For the woman, I would suggest using a dark tone of brown for the shadows instead of black. Ã, I find the black a little jarring, and the contrast between the black and skin tones accentuates the messy strokes... which may be what you were going for, but I find it a bit too messy for my taste.
Nice work overall ^_^

Thank you for calling me "Ace" ^_^

I understand your intended humour, however I think it came off as a bit sarcastic, rather than fun (partly due to the slooooow pace).Ã,  Don't dwell on it, though--this was your first video, and now that you realize that yes, you CAN make one, you can concentrate on making the next one better.
Good luck with future episodes!

EDIT: fixed grammar

Hi!Ã,  I have a slight idea for a game, but who knows if it will ever come to anything ^_^.Ã,  I'm mostly here to improve my spriting (for fun), and maybe if I improve enough, I can eventually help with someone else's game... So if you see me floating around, you know who I am now! ^_^

Since I'm already posting, I will shamelessly plug my art website: http://crabshack.bythegoddess.com

Hello!Ã,  A newbie here, with a first spriting attempt ^_^

A boa constrictor that cannot unhinge its jaw:

16 colours

I realized when I was done that it is very similar to Grapefruitologist's!Ã,  Sorry 'bout thatÃ,  :)
