Beginners' Technical Questions / Run screen
Fri 13/01/2012 18:17:01
Hi just getting to know AGS bit by bit.

When I click on Run to view the game, the run screen is rather small.

I can't seem to bump up the window size, is this more to do with the game resolution?

Thanks everyone!

I'm hoping to do a murder mystery game, so figuring out how to do it in the style of Heart of China for me is half the battle  8)

I'm not sure if this is the correct topic to put this in. Move if you need to. :)

Just to plan a few things before I dive in - I take it that games like Heart of China where you see what the character sees rather than 'control' a character sprite across the screen is possible, what advice and codes can you give me if I were to make such a game?

Hello everyone!

I'm from the UK and a very very keen adventure gamer  ;D

Like most of you guys, I'm heavily influenced from the golden age of the adventure game, especially Amiga games.

My favourite adventure point 'n' click game I've played in the past are as follows:

Monkey Island
Monkey Island 2
Cruise for a Corpse
Operation Stealth
Lure of the Temptress
Beneath a Steel Sky
Hook
Simon the Sorcerer
Maniac Mansion
Curse of Enchantia
Legend of Kyrandia

So many games! So many great family memories as we always used to gather in the living room to play and solve them.  8) 8) 8)

AGS.... where have you been all my life? I've only just discovered you a few weeks ago!  ;D ;D ;D

Well, I'm off to achieve my dream of makin' a game  ;)

I guess all you productive supergeniuses never need to look up a coding issue on the forums? I usually can't go more than an hour of programming without a "now how am I supposed to...?"
Ha ha ha pitiful meatbag, can not remember all code.

;D

Heh! Not being able to ask how to achieve certain codes would be a real nightmare without these forums  :)

It's fantastic at what you can achieve with a game when you know how  ;)

Gotta keep our spirits up!

Hi there!!!  ;D

I'm new to the forums!
I thought I'd make this my first post in this thread since I completely freaked out at the forums 'downtime'.

Here I was, weeks ago, checking out the AGS website, filled with excitement and enthusiasm at the prospect of finally achieving one of my biggest goals in life: To make an adventure game!

So off I went, writing down as many ideas of what kind of game to design, looking at how to use AGS and checking out other peoples excellent games and so on.

Then the downtime came.....

..... UTTER DESPAIR!!!!! My dreams slipping through my fingers!!!!! OH THE PAIN! THE PAIN!!!! :o :o :o

But anyway.
I'm kinda glad other users are experiencing the same thing and that it is not my computer laughing at me.

But I'm more than glad to finally post here  ;D ;D ;D

Hoping to eventually share my ideas with you guys!!!!
