Coming from the guy who criticized my replies?, you're dead!

Only jokin, Nintendo DS is a new handheld games machine with N64 style graphics on two screens

PSP stands for playstation portable (it's cool, I know) It is basically a teeny tiny PS2 with a built in widescreen go to EDGE.co.uk for info :=

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmkay................ aaaaaaaaand the award for the Forums' biggest psycho goes to..........

In reply to BMF, you might be right, but y'see these are not my opininions and I personally would love to hold either console, but sadly I live in Ireland and have to wait till march till either is released, so I just have to stick with waiting religiously for the next EDGE with some info on either, but I find it interesting that the umd's pop out spontaneously, I hope the problem is fixed soon

This also branches out into a prophecy  I discovered which is, all of the major consoles I.E. the NES, the PS2 were released with flaws that meant the consoles had to be racalled, which may be good news (or bullshit, we'll wait and see)

Well, they've been released in Japan, and only now the regular magazines are discussing the PSP and DS battle for king of handhelds, but what do you think, which seems more exciting, enticing, and overall suits you P.S. feel free to talk about other handhelds i.e. gizmondo 'n stuff.

Here's some fuel to get you started:
1: pro PSP: The PSP has the most stylish look of any handheld, it takes away the childish stigma that comes with handhelds, and the whole "pocket" idea has been cleverly replaced with the more adult, "portable". It has a similar graphical power to the PS2 and is set to carry the torch for future handheld markets.

2: anti-PSP: The PSP is an incrediblly tediously built machine, by using a defective cooling system used in vaio laptops, and by it's incredibly short battery life, it's set to sink.

3: pro-DS: The nintendo DS is the pinnacle of nintendo's handhelds, who better to take it into the adult market than the king of handhelds. Nintendo will win with it's established IP and long list of quality launch titles.

4: Anti-DS: The DS is a piece of crap, it is badly made and rushed. It was designed as a competitor to the PSP between SONY's 2003 meeting and E3 2004. It is hardly worth owning, due to it's silly design, bad graphics, size and ergonomics, DS? must stand for door stop.

(note these are only for goading you into replying, my mind will be made up later)

( any game review scores are not to be quoted from and official licenced magazines such as cube and p2 magazine, as they are nothing but adverts for their selected platforms, if you want to quote, quote EDGE (the king) and Games tm or something like that) :=

Homosexuality is your decision, (i.e. he/she who feels that way) not a bunch of homophobes, nor the clergy, nor the guy sitting next to you on the bus. If you decide to be homosexual, that's your buisiness. If you decide to hate homosexuals, that's your (admittedly childish (no wait, kids are better at understanding this than adults)) business. but you can't change the facts, and these are 1: homosexuals and lesbians are the way they are, they aint gonna change brother, 2: they obviously like their chosen lifestyle, so leave em to enjoy it, and 3: who gives a damn what somebody's sexual preferances are, I mean basic manners tells us that sex is one of the most private things there are (and no, I don't care what some tribes in south america deem manners) sex is none of your business if it isn't with you. mind your own business about gay sex, it's between two people as an expression of love and it's not to be discussed lightly. So have some manners and respect each other, because it's none of your business whether someone likes guys instead of Girls.

Geez, I need a drink! :(

As I've mentioned in a previous thread, my dad is an ex-clergyman, I consulted him about this topic, and he replied with something he discvered in the seminary in the 70's. He said that Jesus was a very mellow guy who had one simple idea, he explained that Jesus was a lot like the universe, extremely complex, but at the end has a simple answer, that answer was "love thy neighbour as you would love your self" That's it! Eureka! we've had this idea for two thousand or so years, it's about time we understood it, gays are people who love each other, and we should respect that, it's their life, and God loves them (there aint no denyin that) All this bullshit about meat on fridays and contraception is a waste of time.

In conclusion leave gays to do what the hell they want, there aint nothin wrong with loving someone (unless it's like your cousin or a dead body or somethin coz in that case yer just plain sick >:()

Funny someone mentioned Kubrick, I was just watching the shining for like the bazillionth time on tv ( for any Irish out there it was on TG4, but then again it usually is) I'm always impressed by the sense of isolation and how the size of the hotel makes the cast look like kids in a haunted house, and the shots behind the tricycle are so reflective of what it would have looked like to be a child in such a huge building, it was great. Funnily enough, I haven't read that book, I'll try to find it in the library some day (unless it's shite, if so please warn me)  :=

errmm ... i'm a man ... but i'm lesbian ... i like girls a lotÃ,  ;D ... but i respect anybody's choices ....
wow, there are just over a hundred replies and finally this guy does the "I'm a lesbian" joke, christ man did you read any of the replies or are you just takin the fuckin piss beotch?

And now on a more pertinant point, God loves everyone, he create us, he damn well should. Gays are god's children too, if they want to do stuff differently, let em enjoy their lives, they love each other, it's all good. The church is run by a few small minded old farts and a load of good guys, but they feel that they do not wish to cross the Pope and his cardinals.  he may not wish to let gays marry or rear children but he's old an wont be livin much longer ( don't get me wrong, I still respect the guy, but you can't stop the inevitable) sooner or later he'll be replaced and hopefully by a good guy, and maybe all this can change for a new modern society. if not, it's bordering on nazism (well it is)

After all, the pope just works for god, he aint the almighty.........

Although this may be true naranjas, Many authors of source material for a film (like Stan Lee) write the screenplays for films based on their book or whatever, but the producers usually screw them over in some way or other. Gene Roddenberry wrote loads of scripts for Star Trek films but everyone thought they were shite, sadly in his case TV didn't convert well to cinema and in Dahl's case, maybe his bookwriting skills didn't do too well either when he sat down to write the script, either way the story remained the same, just distorted somewhat, and quite decidedly 70's (shudder here ) themed.

Christ!!, That's enough for me, maybe you just weren't gettin enough (you know what) and your body was telling you that it needed love (any kind, hence the sex changes) and the girl you stayed with and didn't kill might be someone you saw the day before and you were sub-consciously attracted to her fine ass. My diagnosis is you need nookie and lots of it. Or you are just a sick ba***** who gets too much, either way you end up gettin some!   ;)

Y'know, I work in a supermarket with a guy called (well let's just say his name is dave) and he was really funny, I mean he'd make anyone laugh, he was great at arguing and had bleached blond hair. When he told me the other day that he was gay, everything started to make sense. He was in college but wasn't enjoying the women 'n stuff. Irish gay guys sound very happy, not like others with lisps and those gay tones reminiscent of Wll and Grace. I spoke to his (bum) friends and they sounded no different from my own (not bum) friends. the whole camp thing is overblown and silly and It's time we all wised up. anyway, I got a gay colleague waiting to kick my head in so I'll see ya!  8)

Whoah!, I just saw the amount of replies, jesus h christ there's a load of them for a day-old thread, but anyway back to the subject at hand,

Since Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was mentioned, I think the most pertinant mistake is that charlie is an all -American boy, correct me if i'm wrong, but I think he was a Brit. ( I read the book when I was about 9 so I could be wrong)
Oompa Loompas are far too creepy in the film, I think the gruesome illustrations by the genius Quentin Blake are better. If you want good adaptations of Dahl's stuff, try The Witches (yeah the boy is american, let's just forget that) and James and the Giant Peach, probably one of the most underrated animated films of the last century. the film is just what I imagined it to be when I was 8.

The best of dahl's charachters ever recreated on screen was the trunchbull, she made me crap my pants, God I love powerful women!

You're right, I read the book at christmas last year and I was shocked to find that the film had very little resemblence to the book at all, in fact, they could pass as different stories altogether as, first of all, most of the charachters were different, There were at least three T-rexes and a baby, there is at least a whole chapter on Alan Grant and the kids escaping the t-rex on a raft ride through a storm water aqueduct. The film, when compared to the book is tedious and would have been much better to follow the book more closely, but then again that's David Koepp's fault isn't it? ::)

What books are poorly represented on screen? there are plenty of films which don't do their source material justice, to start off, we'll discuss Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. all other films/books or whatever are welcome, regardless of language.

see ya soon  :=

The best song of the moment was at the end of Trainspotting, when Renton was listing out the things he was going to do with his life, and then Underworld's "Born Slippy" kicks in, although the song was throughout the film, it just sounded better at the end of the film, and fitted in with the urban setting and the rapping rythm of his listing (a quality ending) ;)

Gary and Tim are in my list... I loved Tim in four rooms, Rob Roy and the ones he did with Tarantino. And Gary, well... he is the chameleon.

Also Edward Norton is top, IMO, I liked him since "The two faces of truth" (Same title in English?) and loved his performance in fight club. His bodybuilding for American history X is remarkable too, IMO.

I could add Brad, deNiro, Willem Dafoe, Tom Hanks, Gene Hackman, John Cushack, Michael Keaton, Nicholson, Liam Neeson... Redoucing it to just ten is too difficult!

Hey Farlander, y'know wot, yer right, Ed Norton was great in Fight Club, he had so many good moments, like when he gave the speech to his boss about the person who was copying the rules of fight club being dangerous and on the verge of going on a killing spree throughout his office with an armalite ar-15 was chilling, and at the very end of the film when he and Tyler have their last moments together and Marla arrives to see he shot himself and the pixies kicks in and Jack says "Marla, everything is going to be fine, you just met me at a really strange time in my life" --class act--

Anyhoo, as regards the book written by Chuck Palahniuk, how many differences can we find that are fairly signifigant? please reply. No bull***t answers please ::)
