Because I have only played Lucas Arts games (and AGS games) I prefer to have Lucas Arts speech. It's also much easier than making portraits of the characters.

Yes, you read it right. Mark Eteer will feature in the upcoming DOTT fan-game. Since Mark wasn't in DOTT (that salesman for that diamond sailing channel didn't look like Mark) I drew him with the original sprite as a reference.




So far I think it's okay but what can I do make him look better and maybe closer to the DOTT style? Opinions, comments, critics and paintovers are welcome.

I'm sorry to tell you this but Games in Production are only for games that ARE in production, not for games that haven't even BEGUN. There's a topic in Adeventure Game Talk where you can post for question such as this.
Also, don't you have even the slightiest idea for a story or have a story ready? It's better to try to come up with at least an idea of what a game is about before you try asemble a team.

I think the idea is pretty good, never mind apprentice.

Yeah, if it's a competition that is cancled because of rain it would include to a in-joke to Apprentice 2 as well as DOTT's washing your car might make it rain joke.

Helm and khrismuc: I was speaking of alternitive ideas about the cancelation of the contest if not due to rain, NOT for wherever to make a fangame or not (I've already decided to make it and it have started so I won't shut it down because of guys complaining that adventure game creators should create their own stuff instead). I think that if you're against fangames and people wants to do them, don't complain at them (at least not open like here on the forum), let them do it if they want to.

khrismuc: Why do you say that when you have made Maniac Mansion Mania 2 which is Maniac Mansion fangame?

Ok, in the game you can controll four characters (and a fifth much later). When you controll Hoagie you need to get power to his Phony-Porter (a teleporter that looks like a phone booth) and in order to do so you need to enter a burping competition but it's been canceled because of rain. You find out that the rain comes from a man who's washing his car (but it's so dirty it takes hours with just a waterhose, a sponge and bucket of water with regular carcleaner). I thought it was a funny idea because it booth reflects and makes fun of what Hoagie does DOTT but since Apprentice 2 also have a competition that is canceled due to rain I'm a bit afraid that I wil make a rip-of or something.

So, what's your opinion of this? Alternetive ideas maybe? Spill the beans, please!

I sorta like that you have done to the side sprite but the reason I had the left eye of the glasses that way is because Bernard does have it so you can see both the eyes when he stands still (you only see one of them when he's walking left or right.
Also, why is there a black pixel on Benny's right shoe?
I don't like the way the legs of the shorts is kind of "glued" on. It looks like he really need to go the bathroom. Also I don't like the way his right leg is posed because it looks like he can't stand up straight (which he should). I like the hands, they're really an improvement.

BTW what are those bits coming off his ears?

If you mean the blackgrey stuff it's just to match some of Bernard's hair (if you look closly on Bernard his hair is not totally black but does have some blackgrey stuff there. Just to kinda match the uncle and the nephew to each other.

Ok, here's a modyfied version of Benny with a bigger version of him (figurtive):




I made him a bit taller and also widen his body so he doesn't look so weak (yeah I noticed the proportion difference when I compaired it with the Bernard sprite) and also made the whole breastpocket more vinsible.

I don't know about the hands, I was just tried to make the hands similiar to Bernards hands (his right hand actually since Bernard doesn't stand straight like Hoagie does). If someone knows a good way to repaint the hands go ahead and make a paintover.

Yeah, I'm kinda work on a DOTT fangame at the side of Caribbean Mysteries because I love DOTT so much that it deserves a sequel (Stupid LucasArts that thinks adventure games are dead. I just say "Bah, phooey!").

Anyway, here's a sprite of a character I did on my own. This is Benny, Bernard's nephew and one of the five playable characters in the game. I made him a little bit similiar to Bernard because they are relatives.



Here's some facts about Benny: He is about seven years old and he really likes his uncle and his buddies Hoagie and Laverne. Like his uncle, Benny is very interested in physics and is smarter than other kids at his age. A bit of a geek like his uncle but he do have other intrests and own features.

So, what do you think?

Looks pretty good but too... uh... empty. Why not add a sun or some small white clouds or shells on the sand, an island at the horizon maybe or other things.

About the leaves on the palmtree, I don't draw palm leaves like that. My suggestion is that you search for pictures of palmtrees on Altavista or Google for references.

I don't want to interrupt the anti-smoking talk (Myself I'm a very anti-smoker and don't get the idea why people smokes if it's so dangerous and unhealthy and I don't get what's so fun or tasty with the fumes because to me it's disgusting. No, I haven't smoked ANY cigarettes and I DON'T plan too, not even if they pay me trillions of dollars) but let's not talk about this too much and focus more about the game instead.

I've completed the game. It was even better and longer than the first part. Looks like we have to wait another year for the third and possibly final part of the Frank the Farmhand series.

It was really unexpecting that Max would get killed because he and Sam seems to be like the famous cartoony smart short leader and dumb tall compainion duo. Anyway, it was fun and I hope the same fate will happen to Sam and Mr. Big (Who I suspect is very short because it's a famous cartoon cliché but I might be wrong).

After have discovered the agents and the hideout I need to get the bone from the archelogic site and need to get the coil from the plane but I can't pick it up and I don't know how to distract Archie nor how to replace the bone.

A pile of rocks have blocked my way after I took the tape. I used the sylphyr on the bowl but I need the other stuff for the ingredients. I've got bomb-recipie, charcoal, chilsel and hamer, silvertape, jar, log, metal rod, cannabis plant and magnifing glass. How do you get the termites off the tree (I suppouse you should get rid of them to get sawdust)?
