I know this sounds silly but this morning I downloaded ScummVM to play Day of the Tentacle again after a year with Windows XP (dad changed from Windows 98 to XP while my hardware in the PC got switched to due a crash). I couldn't play the game while I had XP in my PC but I recalled that ScummVM could play even old games on new PCs so I downloaded it and tried. It was like play it the first time except I got to hear the music, the sounds and character voices.

Now here's the point: I really want to hear all the voices in the whole game it's just that the version I have is the Floppy Disc version and it only got voices for the into scene and the scene after getting into Doctor Fred's lab. I have tried to find the CD-Rom version on the net and can't find it (I'm NOT talking about eBay and other shopsites, I'm talking about just 100 % free downloading with no circumstances whatsoever), so I ask if any of you guys got the CD-Rom version of DOTT and any of you could send either a burned CD of it or at least the importaint files for the ScummVM to run it.
I would be very grateful if you can do it, thanks.

QuoteWhy don't you use guidelines? At least for ONCE?

That was unnecessary said. I DO use them, just not ALL the time, but I DO use the guidlines, so please, stop bugging me!

A new version. I know that the stairs are unchanged but I'm going to them next.
I have made two changes here.
I changed the stands for the cannon and added the grate for the cargohold. Does those look correct?

krismuc: I do have some shading. How could you miss that? They are right there!

Nice, very nice.
I can't wait to play this game. By the way, how many parts will there be of Frank the Farmhand? Is this one going to show the end or is it a middle chapter or what?
#385
That's good, Neil but think you can fix pic by pic instructions instead of a animation, please?

I'm back from Christmas celebration at my parent's and finished on the latest version of this background. It have been a lot of work. I know it's not finished yet but I'm posting this to check if I'm heading in the right directions.

Changes

I have added some shading (although it's not complete, I'll take care of the rest later)
Remade the stairs with help of the example of Neil Dnuma. Trust me, it was very hard to do them.
Changed the perspective of the planks.
Also I got rid of some of the barrels, not only because of Viktor's point but also because of the new stairs.

Nice song indeed. By the way, Geoffkhan, is it you who sings it?

I suggest to put wrinkles on him. Right now he looks too young to be an old man.
I like the glasses, it makes him look old in those.

Here is a new version of the deck.

I have darken some of the colors, fixed the stairs, added some barrels, the ship-wheel (although I had trouble paint the other "handles" on it so I just made the top, right, bottom and left ones) and what-was-those-again on the mast. I also fixed the planks on the right side (thanks khrismuc and Neil Dnuma for the paintover and blueprint of stairs) and fixed the opening for the cargohold (I will add the grate and ladder later). I'm not sure how to fix those other planks but I will check it out myself. If I can't, I'll tell you guys.

Just some info here: This ship is a two mast ship and it's the front mast that has the crow's nest, not in the one you see here.

Caribbean Mysteries

Demo: Soon. (Getting delayed for several reasons but it will come out, promise.)

Full game: Hopefully the beginning of 2006.

The latest finished background or rather "almost-finished-but-maybe-need-some-improvement" background. This is the deck of Captain Pepe Roni (you haven't forgotten him, have you?).

I have looked at the ships from MI3 (from the insult swordfighting) as references. I'm not entirely sure about the planks in the floor and the same goes to the ladder to the cargo hold. I will add some detail like the ship's wheel and some lamps later.

If you wonder that those things are on the floor, the circulars are the shapes of the knots and the ones with black holes are the knot-holes.

So, what do you guys think?

Doesn't your room have a ceiling lamp or posters on the walls?

I feel pretty stupid for asking this question but how do you change name of characters, hotspots, objects and inventory?

For example I talk to a sailor and when I do I get to know that his name is Roger Saymore. When the conversation is over I want the name in the statusline to change from "sailor" to Roger Saymore.

I have checked the manual but can't find it.

I'm sure there are font files for Quenya or Sindarin (not to mention Futhark) on the web somewhere. I'm also sure that almost nobody would be able to read any of it :)

What about Dwarfish, Black Speech and Ancient Rohirrim (Old English)?

Myself, I hate blood and gore because it's sicken me.

If you are unsure, here is my suggestion: Why not script in two different modes in the game? One that has blood and the other one that is not blood. Right after you start a new game a question could appear asking "You want to see any blood in the game?" and you select yes or no. This is just a suggestion, you don't have to use this if you don't want to.

Well, how do you make footsteps for the characters when they walk?
Also, how do you change the sound of the footsteps depending on what you're walkng on (like go from grass to sand, etc.)?

I have got some suggestions for a future version of AGS (I hope it will mean in the very near future).

Suggestion number one: I think that there should be a zoom-in and zoom-out for painting the areas in the Room Editor. You see, just for fun I paint walkable areas, walk-behinds and hotspots on backgrounds from Day of the Tentacle and it's quite though to fill in very small details. It's quite likely that you paint over a section which is not meant to be painted, for instance painting a foreground cactus and you by mistake paint a part of the floor. Annoying, isn't it? Therefore it would be good if you can zoom in on a background and easier paint on the right places, much like in Paint. It would also be great if you could have more ways to paint the areas than the free-hand, fill and line, for example that if you are going to paint a door you could do it by making a square (either just outline or full), again just like in paint. That way it's going a lot faster than just free-hand, and line.
Another thing that would be good is a undone button that doesn't just undo the latest mistake you do but that you can do several times which is helpful if you done wrong twice or more. Also an erraser would be good so that you can errase one walk-behind area which was wrong and still keep another walk-behind (same color) that was perfect instead of using the wipe out. If you just wipe out a color you have to start everything from scratch (don't you agree that it's so annoying?).

Suggestion number two: Making the dialog-list transparant.
Having that black area around the dialog list isn't so appopriate when you make games with full backgrounds (not like the early LucasArts game which uses the Verb Box SCUMM GUI, those have back spaces for the Interface). If you look at games like Full Throttle and Curse of Monkey Island there are no black space in the dialog list. I think that you should have a function which you can change between having a black space (usefull for SCUMM-GUI games) and not having a black space.

Here's a new edit of the Cliffguard.

I don't see what's wrong with Leslie's hair. It is suppoused to be long hair, not short like the Cliffguard.
