Dragons are more like fantasy-creatures or myth-creatures and there are no such thing in reality (did you know that in the Middle Age when they found the bones of dinosaurs, they thought that there were dragon bones?), so that's the reason for that they don't count as animals.

I think that no fantasy/myth creatures are allowed in this contest, only real animals, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm not sure what to say here. Is it suppoused to be like that? That you can see both inside and outside of the place at the same time? If you're not trying to then cover up the open side with a wall or fill the whole room in the background. In any of the cases, I think you should change it so that you see the whole room because it looks like you have to walk around with bent back all the time and you won't see so much action if you have the background that way. It does look fine but I think you need to some things like maybe a small kitchen, a carpet on the floor, maybe a trophy of a moosehead and maybe a bathroom or outhouse (how is Skylark going to do his "business" without a bathroom/outhouse?). Otherwise it looks good.

About the theme music: I like the idea of using the Peter Gunn theme because I like that music-piece, however the midi sound horrible compaired other versions of that song (like the Blues Brothers from the both movies). If you done this then re-do it so it will sound better. If you haven't then I can give you the Peter Gunn theme from the Blues Brothers CD I own. Don't worry about the copywrite issues because they won't find out.

I can't believe that nobody except me are replying and showing interest to this game.

It sounds like a original story and ideas. But if you ask me, that half-cat/half racoon guy looks more like a bunny. It doesn't look like a half-racoon/half-cat to me.

The rules are very original, however, it seems a bit strict with that GUI rule because it's very hard to think up a new GUI without making it similiar to the Sierra GUI, the SCUMM GUI, the Verb Coin, Apprentice Interface etc, etc, etc, and then trying to script it (not all AGS members are good at scripting C++ or scripting in the complicated AGS way) for a month. I think it's quite harsch if you ask me (I bet nobody would).

I got two question even if I'm not going to be a part of this month MAGS.
1: Do the animals have to be "naked" (no clothes) or is it ok have them wear clothes?
2: Must the animals behave like animals or is it okay to behave like cartoon animals (walking on their hindlegs, dance etc)?

I noticed a strange thing with the walkcycle. The chest looks too much like a male structer. If you look at females, they don't have that kind of chest. Also, it seems that she is flat-chested (no breasts or any breastlines).

My advice is to adjust the chest so it looks more female and maybe add the female breasts there (she doesn't have to have big ones, even if I do like them so, it's your choise not mine).

Not bad! I like it but somehow it seems empty. My advice is that you add some more stuff and maybe do something about the empty sea.

Ok, here's the story about how I found AGS.
It was back in 2002 when I found Night of the Hermit on World of Monkey Island. I downloaded it and played it. I liked the game and had an urge to make my own adventure game. I contacted Roy Lazorovich and asked him how to make Adventure games. He told me about AGS and gave me the link to it. So I checked it out and downloaded the program. At that time I got the Dos version of it and it was really complex to understand how it worked, so I gave up. About the same peroid I got myself my first chatmate Chris Page (known as cpage) and he knew about AGS and told me that there was a Windows version. So I went there, downloaded it and started to experiment with it. That's how I end up here.

Nah, I have seen the flames that the plug-in is used and they don't look so good. Besides, they look to realistic which is not appopritate to this cartoon style game (yes, it is suppoused to be cartoony because it's inspired from Curse of Monkey Island).

Mr Carpulsa: You done some good work on the background but it seems too much like a painting than my cartoony style. Also, this place are suppoused to be about 50 meters above sea level (somewhere between 150 to 200 feet, I don't know the exact measure for it at the moment) and your attempt looks like that it's on a beach. Those lights at the torches, are those the lights that flicker from the flames? When this background is finished I will add the flames and make multiplied backgrounds so that there will be a background animation will the flames (also the pirate flags).

Os àšltimo Quão Queijo: Thanks for the tips on how to make it better.

About the cliff that you see in the background, it is suppoused that the fortress is builded all over so that the cliff is not vinsible at all and that's because that the pirates don't want their prisioner to escape so easily. If you try to jump out of the window that faces the sea you will have quite a fall. You might get killed from either drowning or smashed by the rocks bellow. You see, Captain Pepe Roni is not stupid, he's more of a clever pirate captain. He's about as clever as he's evil.

QuoteMat i think in some area's the picture could benifit from widerlines, rather than allways keeping one pixel big

In what areas should there be a thicker line? Also, you forgot the S in my name.

Here's a newer version of the background. I have made these changes:

* Made some shadow shading on the tree's leaves and under the boulder.
* Added the brick details on the fortress (much inspired by Darth's version)
* Changed the color of the sea water.
* Added some more cloud shading so it would look like a bit like there are a distance (distance lines) on the clouds.

Pixelcat: There's no point of having a path from the fortress to the bottom of the screen. This is a pirate fortress and it's not a place you would like to visit. Besides the pirates doesn't want any visitors, so why would they care for making a road?
About the flag, there will be Jolly Rogers on the flagpoles that are now "empty".

QuoteThat reminds me an awful lot of a scene in The devils triangle

I never played that game. I just made the background from my imageniation.

About the so-called "darker beachy sandy area" it's a distance shading so you know that the rock is not near you.

I made my second background for the game latest game Caribbean Mysteries. This is the outside/gate of pirate fortress of Captain Pepe Roni's pirate gang which is on the western coast of Scary Island, a place for pirates, theivs, bounty-hunters and all kind of criminal scum.
Like the last background I have drawn the background by hand, then scanned into my PC and fixed, painted and cleaned it in Windows paint (plus Adobe Photoshop for extra colors).

I haven't done any shadow-shading yet. I wait with that until I know how this background can improved. Also there I haven't done any flags or flames for the torches but they will be there because the background will be animated in the game.

What do you think of this? What can be improved? Got any suggestions of extra detail in the background? C & C are welcome.

It's in one of the trash-cans. You can see them on them so you can just take them.

Very nice. Please, hurry up and finish the game. I can hardly wait to play it!  ;D

The game is great! One of the best ever made of AGS!

I agree with Grundislav on the talkie version, I bet it would rock even more.

By the way I got this error when I tried to take the clothes in the laundry room: Room 4 script line 102 Error: RealeaseCahracterVeiw: invalid character supplied.

Yeah, it has gone to much time and Mar haven't appeared at all. Tell us that the game will be finished very, very, very, very, very soon, please!
