How come "liberal media" is frowned upon in the land of LIBERTY..

There is no "Liberal Media". US Conservatives created its myth, so they wouldnt be accountible to the press.

The whole bit (and even the one with the twin bushes), was hysterical. Surely, the only thing worth watching on CSPAN for quite a while

I have no interest in making it in the gaming industry really. I'm a college student studying of all things, political science. I was hoping to be more along the lines of a professor, or prehaps a small time local politician. Who knows. Not in games.

So why do I use AGS, or make games at all? I think the adventure game is a great format to tell a story. I love writing, and i love to make people laugh. I use adventure games to tell a story, and maybe get a few jokes in for my friends. Im working on a political-based game (seriously people!), based loosely on Woodwards "All the President's Men"...but at a university, and a comedy. Maybe there's a way to make an adventure game that people want to play...and at the same time, sneak a few civics lessons/jokes in there. Im about to find out!

Jesus....this was about the first thing that i heard about when I woke up. After the shock wore off, it hit me to start checking, to make sure everybody i know in London is alright. After reading this thread, it looks like a lot of the brittins folks already checked in. Good. I pray that everybody is safe again.

I live in Washington DC now. Riding the Metro is going to be a totally differenet experience I bet.

My prayers are with you all, i hope everybody is alright

it totally varies. This summer, I often put in about an hour or two a night. Some nights, Id get on a roll and work 3 or 4 hours, and nail 3 rooms, or animate a ton of spirtes. Lately, with my college applications/leaving the country soon/new girlfriend, I think Ive put in about an hour on my latest project in the past 2 or 3 weeks. At least I cant blame it on coming here too often anymore...its been *forever*

if it were possible to do anything about it...why hasnt he? Bush was all gung ho about swinging social policy to the GOP side. he's done squat for it. It really is a non-issue

I cant understand the "Im pro-life so Im off to vote for Bush" dealie. I consider myself pro-life. Most religous people are. But, its not like a vote for Bush can change anything

Roe V Wade was not an act of congress. It is not a law. Its a supreme court case. Bush can rant and bitch about how Abortion is evil, but he cant do a thing about it, unless the court wants to re-open the case, something that is *highly* unlikely.

Same with Kerry. Aint a thing he can do to change anything. its a misconception the GOP propagates with people who dont know how the US goverment works.

There are other reasons to vote for Bush, I guess. Taxes might be one. If you were a xenophobe, that might be another. If you liked No Child Left Behind, are against Gay Rights, or are terrified or terrorists, then you might vote for Bush too. I dont agree with this rational, but there a few reasons.

America wants a desisive leader. they dont care if he fucks up, as long as he fucks up with gusto. Weird place I live in.

I dont buy that the US media is run by the right wing....just FOX. there were still a lot of clinton-lovers in the media. People love a story, and ragging on the president is a great way for a story.

Im so glad Kerry kicked Bush's ass at the debate. I hate Bush. I fell into the camp that a lot of you guys apparently are in too, the (I dont like Kerry but I hate Bush one). Im with Dave here...I'll be happy to vote for Kerry this election. If he loses though...we'll, Im out of the country for 2 years on a mission....

General Discussion / Re: 9-11 Over?
Mon 13/09/2004 00:50:46
well, I wasnt really refering to you Eric, it was more towards the first few posts in that thread that said I DONT CARE in big all caps letters.

Were the 1990's perfect? no, of course not. I think we have to look at this in perspective. The cold was was just won. during that decade, there were no monster threats looming. no red menace, no crazy terrorist legion, etc etc etc. The whipping boy of the 1990s wasnt communists or a national security threat, it was Bill Clinton.  Big Difference. I was growing up around that time, and I know that scary stuff happened. Columbine hit close to home. but even that danger seemed fleeting, and far. I cared about Kosovo, but those events didnt really register with the US press. I was also younger during oklahoma city, and I barely rememeber waco. Im sure that if those things happened now, Id look at them differently, being much older and more politically aware. I was looking at that decade in a historical prespective.

As for the US not being popular, i was refering more to the political nature. People love the US AGSers, no doubt. Mittens, it appears, was very sucsessful. but once America is discussed in a political nature, which happens when we discuss 9/11, not so much anymore. I dunno...maybe Im being paranoid, or hanging around other internet forums too much.

General Discussion / Re: 9-11 Over?
Mon 13/09/2004 00:08:16
well, I guess Im a minority here. Im an American. Im a democrat...I STILL CARE.

Yes, lots of people die every day. Yes, in fact, terrorist attacks have occured in other parts of the world since then (Spain and Russia come to mind). one of the funny things about New York in America, (or prehaps its just the midwest), is that just about everybody either lived there, or knows somebody that does. My parent's first apparment building was right next to the WTC. I dont think its there anymore. A lot of family friends were there. One was a firefighter who helped clean things up after it was over. It was scary.

I know it sounds a little bit cliche, but I think Im going to really remember 911 as a life changing day for me. I was hoping I wouldnt have to grow up in a war. I thought my country was invincible. The peace that we all had during the 1990's was shattered in an explosion on airplane. Its scary shit man. Shit always seemed to happen everywhere else. Well, everywhere else got really close to Matt Brown on 9/11.

I think that was also the day I decided I needed to go into goverment service. Im not going to join the military, but thats when I began to shed my old overly idealistic, semi-commie political beliefs, and try to learn more. I wanted to know what the hell was going on. I wanted to change the way my country is going, since I thought it was getting screwed up. I still do, and I still think I will.

I didnt spend the whole day mourning or living in fear like prehaps the folks at the RNC would have be do. I watched the news, went to a local blues festival, and then to a dance. I thought I handled things the best way: I thought about it, but kept on trucking. Thats what the county needs to do. Not forget, but not be so caught up in it that it destorys our way of life. We cant let terror win in the face of national security.

I guess thats all I better say.  America isnt a very popular country it seems like on AGS for a while...

I love Jazz. Im kinda a semi-pro jazz muscian too, as my jazz band gets paid to do gigs every now and again.
I recomend

Coltrane-Blue Trane kicks arse
Davis
Herbie Handcock
Weather Report
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy-for a more modern Flavor

of Jazz's many flavors, I think I like retro swing and fusion the best

A total embarassment, but I saw it coming. I was hoping the Americans would lose to a better team, like Serbia, and not Puerto Rico.
The best American players didnt go...some were getting married, some didnt want to get hurt, and others were worried about saftey. The best player there is Tim Duncan. The rest are a bunch of very young, selfish players who cant share the ball. We also only have 1 good point card, and a ton of scoring forwards. very bad player selection by team USA.

I hope they can still win the gold though

General Discussion / Re: Are YOU in a band?
Wed 04/08/2004 18:13:53
I'm in two bands. One is with two adults in my church...its a popish rock kinda band. We sound good, and have gotten a few decent gigs..I guess I dont like the music very much though. not really musically stimulating.

I just started a band with some of my other muscian friends called The Burg Street Swingers. Its a Jazz/Funk/Classic rock band arranged for a Jazz combo. I think I'll have a website up soon to show you guys.
