Ah, I never used lighting levels above 100% (and it doesn't look very good as far as I know). Will test it soon.

Regarding your other question: Yeah, I was always wondering why Illustrator does that*, and after going through some forums it seems that there's no way around that. But you can just copy your character into a newly opened File with the right size and "save for web and devices" - which is, I think, copying the entire artboard. Just make sure that the artboard has the right size.

* it's not always the bottom edge.. it can be every edge.

I'm almost exclusively using Illustrator (CS3) and I'm only exporting sprites with alpha-channels. But what exactly is your problem?

When I export png-images with transparency, they're always saved as 24-bit and they always work in a 32-bit AGS game..

Look up character.Animate in the manual.

@ Mods: No worries, I said "ANY comment are welcome"  ;)

@ Terran: Yeah, it's supposed to be that yellow. I don't know why, but I chose that tone right from the beginning and I'm happy with it. And since it's a fantasy picture and she's supposed to be some sort of elf I guess it's justified that she hasn't a "regular" skin color.

@ Azraq: Well, as I said she's supposed to be rather skinny, but I'll see if I can alter the legs a bit. For now I got a new version.

I lowered the head/shoulders, widened the body a bit and added some more shading+details here and there..

EDIT: There was way too much pink and I decided to give her a more natural look. Also, I wasn't happy with the pixie sitting on the mushroom, compositionwise, so I made her fly around. I altered some things too.

Old one:                                                Newer one:                                               Newest one:

she has a cute, somewhat shy expression!

That's exactly what I was aiming for  ;)

It was a rather unusual piece of art for me, but it might even become part of an adventure. Addiction to (magic?) mushrooms, an NPC-Pixie that can give useful tips.... this just might work.

Well, thanks guys, these were some useful tips. Now that I'm thinking about it, most of them are rather obvious. But it's always the same when you work on something for several hours without leaning back and reconsidering proportions and stuff...

Though she's supposed to be rather skinny I agree that she looks stretched, especially the shoulder-breast part is way off.

Okay, a new version is coming soon.

This is Li'l Miss Mushroom (aka Lilly) with her sidekick, a little fairy.

I worked on it the last two days and am generally happy with the outcome. There's still some shading to do, as well as the feet, though.

But the longer I look at it, there more I think that some things are wrong. It could be that the neck is too long, or the head too big, or the legs too thin.. I don't know. Also, I'm not too happy with how she's holding the basket. I made it that way to avoid drawing the hand, haha (always my biggest problem next to the feet).

Any comments, criticism and suggestions are welcome.

Now I'm just waiting for the people who go "So he was famous, who cares? Big deal! We gotta mourn someone's death now?"

Sorry, not this time  ;)

The only movie I watched where he had a role was Donnie Darko, and it was a good movie...

Actually, the hide tag is missing from the "how do I post images" link (unless I'm blind, which is, of course, a possibility)...

Ah, true! Must have made via quoting like Gilbet suggested..

On-topic:

Haven't finished it yet but it's not bad for a first game. Despite the graphics being rather rough (with wobbly lines/walkcycle etc), I like some animations, like the main character's talking view and the roommate's project moving..

Also, I can relate to the main character since I'm sleeping on a mattress too  ;)

Well, somebody mentioned it at the same time as you did:

But well, this happens from time to time... but it was definitely the longest downtime I've experienced so far.

Whoa... damn.

Just checked it out and realized again the amount of effort put into AGS and that it's been around 12 years now from the first version.

I am SO glad Chris got enough feedback back then to keep him motivated.

Make A GUI or character and change its spriteslot/view according to the active inventory item.
#1552
Okay, I'll try to start a new one tomorrow..

Chicky, what's up? This ended six days ago...

Congrats btw, for winning a coloring ball without using colors at all  ;)

Yeah. I live in Berlin and pretty much everyone I know is an atheist or agnostic.

I wasn't really raised in a religious way, though I remember that we used to pray before eating. But that was when I was very young and somehow stopped after a while, some years before my puberty started. While my mother believes in some strange esoteric stuff, my father wasn't religious at all and my brother neither.

The last time I had religion tought in school was in 8th grade if I remember correctly, afterwards I changed the religion course to an ethics course, and after another year I exited that course too (yes, we had these choices).

I want people to get that message, turn off the game and talk to other people about the futility of war. How it's a cycle that always seems to come back and haunt people and nations later.

Ah, okay. Well, I don't need a game to do that but I appreciate your effort and the purpose of your game then..

Arjon, did you confuse this thread with the one about "the real monkey island"?

Matti, I am sorry for the recent loss of your father.  I'm sure he is greatly missed and my prayers go out to you and your family.

Thanks. While I don't believe in prayers I still greatly appreciate that.

Your story is a reminder to all of us to never miss an opportunity to spend time with our loved ones and to cherish every minute.

Yeah. While I always was kinda bored when visiting my grandparents before that experience (which was the worst in my 25 years so far), now I'm always happy that they still live.

Edit: Okay, enough Off-topic. It's a rather sad story anyway...

@ Khris: Exactly.

The pros of the church have nothing to do with belief, as it has alredy been said, because we don't need all the mumbo-jumbo to do good things, to respect others and be helpful. And I find it rather creepy if someone is being helpful, just because his God told him so (via the commandments/bible). If he isn't that way because he thinks that it's the best for society / a good and happy life then.. I don't know.. it's rather weird and even frightening.

But as I stated somewhere in the middle of this thread, if people bahave in a way, that it's the best for himself and others, I don't really see a problem. I would just like to see (organized) religion disappear. Despite churches history, which in no way could EVER let me be part of the church (no matter how religious I was), without hating myself, I just think it's somehow embarrasing and creepy to believe that men were created by a supernatural being and have to live according to rules that childish and perky entity with his doubtful experiments has once set.

I agree that we can't know and understand everything. I don't know why we're here and something like the big-bang isn't something I can easily understand, cause it's very abstract and enormous. But that IN NO WAY could ever lead me to the completely arbitrary conclusion that there must be a force out there that created everything and watches us.

Why don't we exclusevily use our own brains to live in the best possible way? Why do we have to follow some rules we didn't make ourselves?

@ Rick:

My father died this march of prostate cancer (with 66 years). It was discovered around a year before that and the doctors said it was in a very early stage and could be stopped from further growing. But within 1-2 months it suddenly became dangerously life-threatening and then it just happened.

While your statistics can be true there IS a chance that is was discovered late and that it is growing rapidly..
