Lionmonkey:

Science relates occurances ans processes, predicts and describes things, puts diverse prcedures into context etc. You can call that truth, belief or whatever you can come up with, but it's still the same... it's an observation of the world as we see and know it.

When you, on the other hand, say, that some guy heard a burning bush speaking some thousand years ago, it has nothing to do with truth, the world or whatsoever.

That argument is basically a negation of what people sense (in every way - seeing, smelling, feeling etc.) and just a fragile monument of thoughts that doesn't make any sense unless you believe in it.

EDIT: Guitar hero, science doesn't follow "scientific rules". Okay, yes it does, but for every work there must be a plan on how to do it. It's nothing else than that. As I stated above, science doesn't make its own rules, but it takes a look at nature and draws conclusions from it. And afterwards it can apply these rules to other processes. When something works out, it counts as a rule (or as "truth" if you will) and I wonder what your argument against that would look like.

Also, science doesn't deliver "safety" or "comfort", it's just trying to make us understand what's going on in the world.

(...) and we all know, or are led to believe, that ghosts produce orbs in photos & videos and such.

Don't tell me you consider the so-called "orbs" something supernatural. Please! But if so, then please tell me why they only appear on rainy or snowy days or if it's very dusty around..

I don't work so I can't. In fact, I never really worked in my life...

..but I have to study a lot these days which is some kind of work though I'm doing it at home...

Nice theme. I'll enter this one too I think.

There was no double negative, Jim, though Vince thought so and accidently helped you out here..

"But that doesn't mean that it isn't true or a very hard thing to do." only makes sense (with regard to the previous sentence) when it can be split in those two sentences:

1. But that doesn't mean that it isn't true.
2. But that doesn't mean that it is a very hard thing to do.

Khris just set the brackets wrong. It should be: "But that doesn't mean that it is (n't true or) a very hard thing to do."

Just my two cents  ;)

Congrats Ben. I hope the next competitions will be interesting too, since I'm regaining my appetite to animate stuff..

For scenario 1 you could use region lighting (as you yourself noticed). If you want just a part of the sprite to be lit, use regions and draw the special sprites for the characters.

For 2 you could use tint screen.

@Jim's statement: "You don' t need to believe in Bible to believe in God"
That's a false statement, I never said that you don't have to believe in the bible to believe in God. I did say that you don't have to know about the bible to believe in God.

And how can one believe in the bible without knowing it?

You can set the item width and height in the inventory's panel.

Yay, the archer hits the apple!

Edit: Added one frame to make it smoother.

Edit 2: Replaced two messed up frames and changed the delays. Firefox still shows the animation in another speed than my graphics program... whatever.

I gotta say that I expect more of a 10$ commercial game than some collages wherein copy-pasted objects (including ugly artefacts) are used in a completely wrong perspective...

Sorry, I don't wanna sound harsh, but I seriously doubt that you can make any money with this.

Maybe monkey_05_06's petition could help..

"In an effort to create awareness of the benefits of home-grown meat, we are petitioning to legalize the consumption of the common house cat."

A burning bomb, partly stuck in the ground. With a surprisingly large flame I may add...

It looks rather rushed, so I might redo it..

Yeah, I think you got my point! It's a totally different concept, isn't it! The bible makes so much sense (at least, to me that is ;)): It's just that "I can decide what's good and evil on my own"-attitude that in the story of Adam and Eve gets between them and their maker. They weren't created with that attitude but somehow they got to this point. In the core it is so not about moral. If good=god (and his will), and evil=opposition to that, it's the relationship between god and human that is concerned. So by turning from god to themselve,s Adam and Eve turned in their relationship with god from friend to enemy.

Whoa, if everyone would think like you, I'd be really afraid that Huntington's "Clash of the cultures" would become true*. If you strictly follow your own gods plans- without your "own judgement and independency", then there necessarily must be war between religions. If you take the first few commandments seriously, that is.

* Well, he mixed up cultures and religion, so "Clash of the religions" would be a more adequate term.

Oh, and did I mention world war II? So much on "moral sense".

Yeah, it's funny how believing christians can turn into killing machines, isn't it?

Hahahaha, you all make me laugh =D

Yeah... and vice versa...

Anyone can learn why going against the ten commandments is wrong,

Those commandments - without putting them into context and relating them to a certain situation - are as stupid as trying to divide mankind/life into "good" and "evil".

If a guy would have shot Hitler, would that be an evil action? If a poor homless guy would steal some bread from the bakery to survive - would that be a reason to throw him in hell after he passed away in winter?

I have my own standards and morals and that is much smarter then following some lines written thousands of years ago...

Quote from: guitar_hero on Mon 17/08/2009 13:47:38
Then the big war came. You have to imagine what that meant to the people and how their whole thinking got shattered. Did we learn anything from that?

Yes, we did. Though I'm not considering the average german as a smart person, something like that won't happen again. And I don't think Europe will see any wars again (unless Italy's fascists will become more powerful than they already are, that is  ;))

Also, without considering WW2 too much - take a look at the situation before the 60s - the mothers had to stay in the kitchen, the fathers were authorities and the kids had nothing to say, but behave 'properly', without questioning anything, no matter how stupid it may be. Morals and (equality) rights are being continuously developed and that's a good thing. If we'd go after the bible, we'd still live in the middle ages.

Wow, people post too quickly, I have a hard time keeping on track..

I started something but won't be able to finish it today. Maybe I'll have it ready by tomorrow, I'm not sure. But you can start a new competition if you like..

He looks much better now, but his shirt could use some shading. Also, his trousers shading looks rather random and makes little sense. You should make that similar to Melanies shading.
