Please tell me German Musicians can swear in their songs?!

No worries, they can and they do.

There's no *BEEP* and no list of evil swearwords that shouldn't be used.

It's just the violence (not the sex)  in videogames the german authorities go crazy about.

I played all the Command and Conquer games, for example, while being told that the units were cyborgs. (...) We always get the blood cut out/disabled

Yep, and in Unreal (or something similar) the blood was replaced with "oil" (black was used instead of red).

german Fallout is hardly playable due to almost a dozen quests being cut, and so on. It's not exaggerated, it's the plain truth.

Yeah, and that is the most rediculous and outrageous thing I ever encountered regarding censorship. I played Fallout for years before I realized that in the german version many (important) things (like all the kids) were cut out. You can't believe how angry I was back then...

I don't know why you guys are still talking about the style-mix:

If you're capable, i'd say re-draw the classic places from MI, it'd be interesting to see a new take on some of them i'm sure.

Hahah I intended to do an owl at the beggining but my gf talked me into penguin idea :)

Haha, I thought of a goose at the beginning that would have looked very similar to your penguin...

Here's one of my rare attempts in pixel-art (instead of vector-art). It's an owl.

Right after posting I realized what the problem is.  ::)

For one room in my game I used the parallax effect of Ali's module. I didn't realize that the properties are set for all objects in all rooms of the game. I looked up the module thread and read that I have to use ParallaxOn() and ParallaxOff() for enabling and disabling the effect.

Thanks anyway, Rick.

For some reason I can't tell the game where to place the objects anymore. They remain at their starting coordinates and object.x and object.y won't do anything. This suddenly happened a few days ago and I'm clueless.

Any ideas what the reason could be?

Spacepaw, don't forget the categories.

Idea - Exsecratus

Atmosphere - Geratuza

Design - Geratuza

Composition - nihilyst

Functionality - bog

Technique - Geratuza

It was hard to choose since I really like all the backgrounds. And yes, I'd love to see a game in the style of Geratuza's entry too. And I agree that Ben's image is similar to Another World.

The non-parallel shading on the right side of the tree looks much better. I'd go with that.

I've uploaded the data again here and here. I hope one of these will work.

Thanks for having a look.

I can type something on my keyboard and people from all over the world can read it. If that isn't magic!

I've not played Kult but I will google it now!

Just looked it up and realized that the complete title is called "KULT: The Temple of Flying Saucers" while the american version - for whatever reason - is called "Chamber of the Sci-Mutant Priestess". Yes, the game is as strange as it sounds. It was just some sounds of your game like the water dripping that reminded me of Kult.

Loved (...) the cat. ^_^

Yeah, I hoped the cat would become a permanent companion, travelling with the character using the box as well, but apparently it had "enough fun" that day...

Nice game.

I think it's great how sounds + graphics work together, creating a unique atmosphere. Sometimes it reminded of old classic (amiga) games like "Kult", especially the sounds of that steam platform.

Also, as it's been said before, it's an interesting game concept.

Well done, Ben, you game-making machine.

I'm stuck:

Spoiler

I got the gem from the golem and now I don't know where to go or what to do. Using the box I can only get to the already known locations...

Haha, did this really happen to you? And did "refresh image" bring up something more useful ?

1. I had an adventure game in progress 'til my hard disc crashed... i might redo it some day..

2. I have worked on a 2D space shooter, made with Turbo Pascal. A first version many years ago then a second one some years ago and I am considering remaking it with AGS (or perhaps Pascal again). The older versions weren't finished anyway..

3. I'm working on an action-RPG right now, the only 100% serious project at the moment..

..and well, stored somewhere in my mind, there are plenty of other ideas who might or might not see the ligt of the day..
