Read the forum rules

"If you have an idea for a new competition, then post it in the  designated thread. It will then be allowed here if it gets approval from the majority of forum members and approval by a global moderator or a moderator of this forum.

DO NOT post a new competition here without asking first"

And on the subject of not looking at the help file. Don't try and tell me the first thing you opened in the AGS folder, was "ags-help". I mean, when I get some new, exciting software to play with all I want to do is experiment.

You're right. But when you're stuck and need some infos you ARE looking at the helpfile, at least before posting questions in a forum. There's really no need for the question how a character is able to change the room. This quesion indicates that you haven't read anything in the tutorial.

On the other hand I doubt this thread will be of any help. Is it for the few people who post stupid questions? I don't know if they'll read this thread and I don't know if they would stop asking basic stuff. It's those people who don't want to put any effort in their work. They want to instantly make a game while being to lazy to go through the Tutorial. I doubt any of them will ever finish something with AGS and I don't care if they get help or not.

Nevertheless, monkey, it's a great thread with a lot of work in it..

Very cool. Perhaps those spacecrafts will assassine Mugabe and bring rain into the Sahara.  :D

Or they'll just take away their pyramids.  :'(

Well done, auriond. At least the nose is absolutely perfect now. The darkened mouthcorners are a great improvement too.

Btw, could someone recommend a good program to draw sprites and backgrounds?

Asking for a Tetris clone isn't a stupid question since there are millions to be found in the web and most of them just suck...

Btw, here's a psychedelic one:

http://www.allegro.cc/depot/TetanusOnDrugs/

TOD, "Tetanus On Drugs" is a bit different to the normal Tetris since there's psychedelic screen-distortions and so on. It's fun to play one or two times but it's really hurting the eyes so don't get addicted.

For all of you waiting for an update, here are some cute space rats.

Mmhhh... that'll be a nice meal to pass the time with..

I think the eyes are a little bit to small. They're definitely a bit to far away from the nose, but putting them nearer wouldn't do the trick. So I suggest you should make them a bit larger.

The nose is okay but could be improved too. Unfortunately I don't know how to describe it and what exactly is to change. I can't do a paintover right now but perhaps I'll make one in a few days.

But altogether it's a nice peace of art and improving with every version.

I know it's the very same ProgZ posted but my decisions just are the same and that's why I won't comment my choices. I wouldn't really add something to ProgZ' comments....

Only thing - it could be my eyes playing tricks, but the fawn that is to the right of the image seems to have a wonky back leg, or one that is longer than the other.

Yeah, your eyes are playing you tricks indeed. It's the leg in the front which is a bit raised.

Great work, Mash. Your edit is a great improvement and I'd like to see color too.

Your image is far to bright I think. Stick to the colors of the original image or use other colors with some contrast, but just don't use pure white for the buildings.

The grass still looks like water to me and I'm not sure if I've done the shadow on the fence right.
Also, do you get a feeling for the depth or do I need more tree like blobs in the background?

Yeah, the ground does look like water. You should perhaps add some little bushes od at least some up- and downstrokes to make it look more like grass.

The depth of the background is okay and I must say the wood with the blue horizon and the little light do look just fine. Good work so far.

Yeah, it looks really good. But I've some issues:

1. Like Zooty said, the hat coming down looks strange

2. Indy's left hand (on the right side) is too bent I think

3. The shadow right beneath his left leg is odd too. I wouldn't make it that dark.

Otherwise - again - it's a very smooth and nice animation. Great job.

Damn, InCreator, you're neither insane nor the only one getting these feelings. I think I have very similar moments though not as strong as you describe them. I never talked about that with anyone so it's really funny you started that thread here.

I completely agree to the following points:

* Person who induces it, is always very concentrated onto something, and doing something with hands. First times I felt anything like this was at barber's. Little sounds fingers make on working, like touching sounds or little scissors snipping or so.
* Person doing whatever he/she is doing doesn't have to be in direct contact with me, and most often they are not. I simply observe them doing something and suddenly this warm pulsating starts in my head.

I'm not getting "hypnotized" or have some sort of feeling in my head or neck. But sometimes I get REALLY relaxed when someone is working around me. It just happened last week when my uncle - an electrician - came over to install a large lamp. It was a bit complicated and took him a while. I was standing there, watched him working and immediately got very relaxed.

Another example was my physics teacher installing some sort of thing to get an experiment working. It was many many years ago but I still remember the relaxing and chilly mood I got back then.

And - just like you - the first time I experienced that feeling was at a barber and then *everytime* I went to one. I even get into that mood when listening to the Virtual Barber Shop, cause that guy is always busy working with his hands.

I don't really know what this is either but I like it. As for me I believe that it's stronger when I'm a bit tired because then it's easier to get relaxed.

My idea is to modify this one based on a photograph, is this right?

I won't modify it. I would either overdraw it or just use it as a reference like snarky said.

Nice topic. I really wanna join this one but I can't start until oct. 10th. Two weeks will be damn little time for that, but let's see.

Well, of course it makes sense to tell the player what the mouse buttons are for, but the player has to know that just once, or are the mousefunctions changing depending on rooms/chapters?
