Nice entry. Can hardly be called a jump'n'run with all that action going on (like abstauber's as well)* but who cares. Must have taken you quite a while I guess..

* He, how cool it would be to make/play a jump'n'run where you can interact with everything that surrounds you and where things are actually something else or something more than they seem to be.

Come on guys, exactly one day left and I wanna see more entries. I considered making trophies but that's pointless now I guess.

Hehe, just brilliant, abstauber. This is what I was looking for.

Untalented indeed, I especially love his very first try.  ;D

@ Tuomas: Damn, I'll always love the scandinavian landscape.

@ ManicMatt: Are you a relative of Quentin Tarantino?

??? You said what you've tried out but you didn't say what your problem is...

- Marijuana.

In my current game. Though it's supposed to be a bit stronger than "usual" marijuana it's looking the same.

Within the General Settings panel you are able to change the screen resolution. However in the room panel the screen size still reamains at 320x200.

That's normal but it shouldn't bother you (just the coordinates are in 320x200).

Quote from: PK on Wed 09/07/2008 21:05:21I'm getting a black screen when f5 is pressed with what looks like a C64 loading screen behind it.

I don't know why your screen is black, but it's normal that f5 opens the save-screen and f7 the restore-screen. Shouldn't bother you either, you can change that later if you want to.

I haven't actually calculated how many unique endings this game has, but there are at least 10 or 20.

...floorboard, carpet, pictures/lamps on the wall, newspaper/book on table/couch...

But decide what the room is used for before you make it too detailed. I see that there aren't walls at the corners, so is the room supposed to be a hallway? Or is it a living room?

The top one isn't too blurry.

So my vote is 640x480 16-bit.   8)

I know there's a line of the dune and it's okay (black arrow).

But there's a very strange line above (red arrows)

1. The horizon line should be a bit smoother

2. The clouds don't look like clouds. Look at some pictures to get inspiration for them

3. There's a strange line on the sand near the water. I don't know what to think of that

To make it less boring you should add a few things like rocks (on the sand or in the water), shells or sticks..

Yeah, I'm glad that I finally came up with that since I had no idea for at least a week.

I just regret the middle part of the scene, it's a bit weird, but maybe you'll do something fine with it..
#2373
Great image, Andail. Great atmosphere and immersion. Only thing a bit weird is that the guy to the left seems to be the only one who is surprised by the magic effect, while the others are calmly looking at the book. But that's perhaps just his character.

-The elf on the right seems to stare off into space rather than into the book.

Well it seems the elf is looking at the "magic smoke" comin out of the book which is okay I think.

Great work there, ghost. I really like the style, simple but lovely and clear. And I'd love to play that game.

Regarding the gameplay: Is there a finished map at the beginning of the game and the players just transform it to gain some advantages or do they form the landscape that is empty at the beginning?

And it seems that there'll be (interactive?) objects on some tiles, like that pyramid. That would be cool.

Interesting use of AGS. Good work so far!  :)

Cool. Congrats from me too.

Are we allowed to use the Spore creature creator?  :=

Let me think...   no!  ;)

Bitby, you don't have to double-post, you can modify your posts..

Finally, here's the third competition I had to start:

Rules:
A sprite is supplied, with a theme.
Participants must use the given sprite for their animation
Each competition will last 11 days
The starter of each competition will decide on the winner.
The winner, who will decide on the next competition's theme, must also supply a sprite.

Theme: Jump'n'run

A little jump'n'run scene is to be animated. The little stickman wants to get to the exit. It's up to you if he reaches his goal or not. Be creative, let the guy interact with his environment (pull the rope, throw the ball, move blocks etc.). I tried to make everything as easy as possible so it won't be too hard to animate. You can add things during the animation but the first frame has to be the original one.

Regarding the few entries of the latest competitions I think it would be better to give you more than 11 days, but these were the rules and I don't think I'm supposed to change them..

Yeah, and take a look at this or this

But the sprite doesn't necessarily have to be weird, it should just somehow fit the style of the picture I posted, especially regarding the colors, which the creatures we linked don't!

I'm a fan of those surrealists too.  ;)

Okay, it was my task to start a new one so here it is:

Make a sprite that fits the style of this Max Ernst picture.

- It should be some kind of creature/animal (snail, scorpion, dragon, zombie etc.)

EDIT: I decided that a person would be okay too. Just keep the style in mind

- Max. 16 colors (+ transparency color), that should cover the green, orange and black tones

- Try to keep the colors similar to those in the picture

- Max. size is 300 x 300

I hope I get some entries here...
