Quote from: Darth Mandarb on Mon 23/06/2008 21:27:29How can we not see the incredible importance of the fact that there's frozen water on Mars?  It's not that it's water ... it's that it's water ON MARS!

...and what happens then? We waste 6 bottles of water to make 1 bottle of Coca Cola. So we'll take water from mars to have enough to drink?

Don't misunderstand me, I'm quite interested in space and spacetravel. But it all seems to me like some sort of escapism with the attitude: With exploration and science we'll either solve the problems on our planet OR, if mother earth is wasted, we'll leave and colonize some planet somewhere..

Shouldn't we instead work on our problems BEFORE we explore outer space? How can it be that so many people live without healthcare, but billions are going into space-science? Of course it's the same thing with weaponscience for example...

..I think you get the point.

Autopilot, look here.

I still don't know what you actually want us to say...

But I'd like to say I love that style and it's all put together and animated so well.

I just tested it for 2-3 minutes, but one can't say much about the gameplay when there aren't clues and descriptive cutscenes. The idea of not having a main character (I think) is okay, as long as one can solve puzzles, follow dialogs etc.

Perhaps this was too early to post, I'll test it again tomorrow.

Thumbs up for the graphics so far.

Hey, there's ice confirmed on Mars, this is easily worth half a billion dollars don't you think?

Definitively not! Same thing with the scyscrapers in your other thread. Well, it's nice to know that there's ice on mars and perhaps some scyscrapers look stunning, but how could all that possibly be worth billions of dollars I wonder? It's just playing around instead of concentrating on more serious issues.

This one's AWESOME with capital letters. It's just so good, I watch it over and over. And it's not by me.

Trippy effect. But I wouldn't watch THAT over and over again. Just can't be good for your eyes.

Of course. You can easily design your own GUIs. Look it up in the manual (Other features->Editing the GUIs).

Some sort of pacemaker, taken from a Simpsons-episode.

NOT AN ENTRY:

Yeah, somehow.

And I don't know if the sky in your picture is supposed to be that psychedelic, but it doesn't really fit the rest. The ground for example is much to bright in contrast to the sky.

Another point would be adding some details like rocks, bushes or trees...

Well, it looks very two-dimensional. The grass should get darker as it's going towards the mountains. And those shouldn't be shaped like cones, but rather like these:

I have the same problem but what do you mean the 'beforefadein event'?!?!?!?!?!

There's a before_fadein-section in every room's script. You have to put the code there..
#2431
Yeah, the backgrounds are really good and have a great atmosphere..

Cluey, it seems you like to put blurry rectangle silhouettes in the corner of your images  ;)

1. Is the item width and heigth you set in the inventory-gui the same of the actual item images?

2. Can you post your code related to the inventory (on_mouse_click in the main script I think)?
#2433
It's quite possible. You can just create different views for the character and change them when he's supposed to transform..
#2434
Yeah, take a look at Washed ashore for example. It's very simply drawed, but it's a funny game worth to be played.

hFireTruck.Enabled = false;

As for the 'conversation': I'd suggest you run a dialog with a transparent character. Then when choosing "pick up" write: add-inv x and run-script x (for disabling the hotspot).

Ha, InCreator, you outworked me. For my picture would have looked similar (and not as nice as yours) I'm not finishing/posting it. Yes, shading makes sense and the arms have to be longer.

I darkened the buttons of the coat too.  ;)

So is your problem to find a useful program to draw small characters or don't you know how to draw small characters?

Either take a look on how characters are drawn in other games or resize larger (not too detailed) sprites you draw (in Flash for example)..

..or make a hi-res game...

Could you link me with a tutorial? I searched the forums, couldn't find one..

Well, you should search the whole net..

But if you really have no idea how to draw a character then it would make sense to take the given sprites and change them..

How do you people get the time to finish games?

Yeah, this is a problem. I started my game in late 2006, then in 2007 I decided to not work on it anymore cause it took too much time. Then again about 5 month ago I started to work on it again but it's developing slowly. I would really like to make several games but I know I won't do another after my current one is finished.... I just want to have ONE game made with AGS, it is really taking enough time.

But the games that are done it a relatively short time are either low-quality or made by a team. Doing a game all by yourself is of course a lasting thing..

Limonmonkey, what part of earth is it? is real? I don't recognize the geography...

It looks like the northpole with a little green Antarctica in the middle, surrounded by Russia and Southamerica instead of Northamerica...

Seems like a continental drift happened there.
