I didn't play your first game cause it looked too simplistic and childish. I thought the same when I just looked at these screenshots....

BUT:

after watching your little trailer I really think this game seems to be a lot of fun and action. The cartoonish animations are great and I'll give it a try when it's ready.

(the characters are drawn so strange I don't yet know if that makes the game better or worse)

Exactly, the face should be turned more towards the woman to make a more welcome feeling.

...     or he should look in the same direction as the woman. That would look natural too I think.

Nice entry. I hope this time we get to see some more competition than the last round...

Me too. Actually I'm thinking of making a second animation for this one, cause I have another idea. And it's sad you were the only one posting a resurrection-animation, which was a good theme too. I would have done one if I just would've been aware of these competitions at that time.

Quote from: red runner on Mon 09/06/2008 21:57:04For example, I may want him to walk to a door, then go to another room. He just goes to another room.

In this case you can just set a walk-to point for the door.

If you're scripting it nevertheless, use the blocking-function: Character.Walk(x,y, eBlock);, so the script will wait until the move is finished..

To demonstrate the problem you can just upload the compiled-folder. No scripting in there..

I think the main reason why most people make adventures in retro-style, with traditional (MI-) puzzles and plots is, that they have those adventures in mind when making their own. It's just - like you said - that there weren't much good adventures coming AFTER those old classics.

As for the "death" of the adventure-genre: In addition to the last point I think the reason is the gameteams, who want to basically make hi-res-3d-shooters and RTS-games with lots of action and lots of specialeffects. I think since 10 years there's a trend in the  gameindustry to 1) better graphics and 2) less creativity. In fact I didn't get me any new game since 7 years or so, cause most games are just boring (and regardless of the quality often ugly) and the only thing you get offered is strategy and shooters. I'm afraid most game-designers just find it easier to use given graphic-engines (and enhance them) to just give old games a modern and pseudo-innovative touch instead of being creative and create a nice plot with cool ideas...

That's why I'm so happy about AGS, which brings up interesting stuff from time to time..

Looks like the sheet was to small and both sides were used..

OR it's two maps in one and he just needs one of them..

Hey, when I played Loom a long time ago (without even finishing it I think) I really wanted to play a sequel or something (with better graphics).

Audio drama? I'm curious. As Ikari pointed out, you have to say a bit about the story. Well, we'll see, the screens look nice.

My problem is my fuzzy mind which is constantly trying to get me to add new ideas, prohibiting me of ever finishing game. And the fact that halfway through I get convinced my idea is a load of... well, you get the point.

That's exactly my problem. My only but serious one..
#2470
Well, I hardly believe these guys were serious. If you watch any other video of that Athene-channel (pretending to be porn), you see those guys talking nonsense about some stupid things. They don't want to be taken seriously..

I think this guy needs shoulders, at least if he's not supposed to be depressed or something..

What surprise: The mask wasn't a mask at all..

I like her too  ;).

In the game she's a friend of yours and is called Lucy, er... and in fact a picture of Lucy Liu was the inspiration for her...

I originally planned to have close-up views for some characters, then it would have been obvious, I guess..

Here are new screenies:

The street in front of the bar is almost finished now (and I replaced the lantern with a tree, looks nicer).

The other one is a nearby "almost-everything-you-need"-shop, which will be well-stocked soon.

As it's said in the games-section:

medium lenght game: a couple of hours

full lenght game: "should keep you playing for a while", meaning: more than a couple of hours, so at least a couple of days..

I abandoned playing "The Dig". I mean, I was stuck, and then I browsed for a walktrhough... and what I needed to do to go on was to push a code of 5 or 6 buttons in order in a keyboard that had like 80 buttons.

Ha, this is exactly where I stopped playing The Dig too. Didn't even make the efford to search for a walkthrough. I hate such senseless puzzles..

I noticed that prizes are 64 pixels in height. Isn't signature banner restriction in height much less?
EDIT: I didn't really find a rule for this, but 64px still seems a waste of space for me.

You're right: It's exactly 50 px.

Anybody played a commercial adventure game as much annoying as this?

This sounds quite annoying:

To be honest I don't think you'll ever complete a game if you plan a dozen of them at the same time...
#2480
Nice game, very similar to Infinity string, but I like such sci-fi-games. Like someone above already mentioned, the Nazistuff was a bit strange, but that didn't bother me. I really like your artwork (except the aliens, they didn't look that good).

Unfortunately I don't like stargate, so I think I won't play your 3rd game.. but whatever.

Great work! Must have last quite a while to complete those games..
