Ha, Andail, I know exactly what you're talking about. I don't paint but I draw and the unplanned drawings are often the best while most of the planned ones remain unfinished.

Okay, this is the ClassMaster (2008), whom I used to dream of back in those days I went to school..

Edit: Class Controller would be a cooler name.

Sitting in class you're able to:

1. Adjust the volume (very useful, if the students or teachers are too loud, and if you wanna sleep).

2. Rewind (if you want to answer a question of the teacher, which you didn't know in the first place)

3. Fast forward (if the lesson lasts too long, but still you're able to stop at an important point)

4. Pause time (to relax a bit or play some pranks on classmates/teachers)

5. Record sound/picture (if you want to watch this lesson once more or to film your pranks)

6. EJECT (if you want school to immediately stop. Time is set to the point where school's over. Fortunately you can combine this with the record-function)

I forgot to draw the solarcells, but let's say, it's powered by... your boredom (batteries suck).

The Rumpus Room / Re: The MSPaint game
Sat 07/06/2008 16:05:50
Haha, not bad, that fly on the motorcycle..

And haha again: First time I used MSPaint. This program is so rediculous, I wonder if Microsoft meant that to be a joke..

Sorry, too late I realized that you wrote "R(h)ino-man" and not "Rhino"..

Edit: Okay, Rui encouraged me to leave it, so the next one is:

"Nah, I think we shouldn't be afraid, these Aliens just shoot those who dress up shabby..."

What about something like that:

(I don't like the idea of having arrows pointing at the band members, but whatever..)

or that:

I just played around a bit, don't know if you like it..

Via the panel on the right side you should access the room's script. There is a section for your created region. The interaction you want to happen should be placed in the player_walks_onto_region-section.

EDIT: When your room is viewed you can click on the [...] next to interaction at the right bottom as far as I remember. But you have to select "regions" in your rooms view first.

Unfortunately I can't use the editor at the moment and can't look the things up, so someone else should help you, but basically you have to do one of the following:

1. Create an object: "Cloud", if it's supposed to move.
2. Check, whether the character is within the x-coodinates of the cloud or not.
3. If he is, then start an animation for the cloud, the rain.

(2. and 3. have to be scripted in the repeatedly_execute function in your room's script)

or:

1. Just draw the cloud, if it's supposed to stand still.
2. Create a region beneath it.
3. In player_walks_onto_region start an animation, in In player_walks_off_region stop the animation. EDIT 2: You can either set the backgroundanimation here (every background can have 4 frames) or set an object visible (the rain).

But you should really go through the tutorials first and look up things like object(-animation), regions, views and interactions...  ...and of course scripting...

The interaction-editor was just a little tool to avoid basic scripting, but isn't used in the latest versions anymore, which I think is good, because now you have to learn scripting right from the beginning, which is neccessary anyway.

Which AGS-Version are you using? If it's 3.x then the interaction editor is obsolete..

Well, now that my room isn't lightened up by the sun anymore I can see the shapes without adjusting the brightness. I'm curious if the gameplay will suffer from such darkness but it creates an atmosphere.

Well, THAT is pretty dark indeed. But why do you make it that dark? I had to set my brightness (from 67) to 100% to barely identify those dark shapes in the images...

But sounds and looks interesting. I like the font-type too.

Like Ryan said: The right door is too large. It's wider than one of those stoneplates while the door in the back is thiner than one of the plates.

2nd point is: The upper left corner of the right door is below the top of the door in the back which is also perspectively wrong.

But let me say: A nice background altogether.  ;)

As for me: In my game I didn't care too much about perspectives right from the beginning 'cause they're just increasing the amount of time I have to spend on the pictures and I basically wanted them to look good rather than look realistic.

Nice panting. Reminds me of a starwars-artwork-book I once posessed.

City and Spaceship could perhaps be a little more detailed, but it's okay the way it is.

Quote from: Dualnames on Mon 02/06/2008 19:54:34I wanna say that some screenshots look cool and others look lame(compared to cool screenshots)

I agree. You should work on the fleet-cutscene-pics and the character-closeupview.

But the game looks interesting. Almost seems like a mix of strategy, jump'n'run and adventure. Well, I'll see.

Thanks.

Quote from: Ben304 on Sat 31/05/2008 17:19:32Only thing I wish is that you'd draw the inventory items rather that photograph them,

I planned that anyway and I'll redraw the items soon.

Thanks for encouraging me, everyone.

@Neon:

Yes! Currently I'm writing everything in german. I'll have it translated to English when it's finished, but there'll definitely be a german version available.

Curious graphical style, Awake me intentios of test it to see if the graphical style works in the game

Yes, I'd like too see the character-animation and stuff..
Very simplistic but unique and interesting style. I'm curious.

You posted a link to the rapidshare-downloadsite. This is the right one:

Just a point regarding the art:

I think you should work a bit on the paths, they don't fit the background. I think it would help not to outline them (though the houses and objects are outlined).
#2498
I don't know any of the characters in the screenshots, so I think I haven't played freaking many adventures.  ;)

Looks nice altogether but I think I will be a bit annoyed by such different drawing styles mixed together. The characters aren't really the problem, but if the background changes from one of the first two screenshots to the one in the third it seems a bit strange...

But nevertheless, I'll give it a try and will see.
#2499
Yes, sorry. Next time I'll post it there..

Edit: I deleted the map. Was too early to show anyway..

@Nacho:

Yeah, perhaps I should change the task to "Find all the red stars!"..

Edit: Sorry, misunderstood your comment. I thought, you wanted me to PLACE a star in every room, but, yes, you're right: There IS a star in every room. But's that's just the bar, no star in other rooms..  ;)

@Mods:

For I am doing all the stuff on my own it will really take a while to finish it..

The character walking (haven't done the up and down cycles yet).
