Giving silly answers to serious posts doesn't help.

Dead :(

Great observation skills.

Indeed!

GrimReapYou, please don't bump old threads on a daily basis just to tell everyone that the link is dead. You can just PM the author and eventually he will update the link - if the module itself isn't outdated anyway.

PS: The sky told me to tell all of you it hates you too and feels rejected.

I like the sky  :D

Well, except for the cloud that is. Other than that this is a great BG, a bit surreal, but great!

(I considered not posting this, but I wanted to voice my distaste for the thought process. )

Same here. I don't think the statet possibilities can be eliminated, instead they're rather likely. "Investigating further" on that guy because of the country where he's coming from is disgusting xenophobia and nothing more. Nothing. And I hope Darth got the point by now and understands that his analogies were not only weak, but totally out of place.

There's a reason why Rick didn't say China, Korea or wherever the guy is coming from, but "a country where cat eating is very prominent", because, naturally, AGS members from that country would be offended as they were suspected of being "cat eaters", which, of course, is utter bullshit. And, as Snarky already pointed out, there are no "cat eating countries".

Would someone suspect me for stealing a grilled sausage in some country because I come from Germany where grilled sausages are a rather popular fastfood? I hope not  ;)

Aside from that, I hope your cat is well and will eventually return to you.

This looks epic indeed, very cool stuff!

Awesome sound effects!!! Where did you get/made them from?

I was asking myself the same thing. The Kult-like sound after summoning the Kraken was the best.

PATIENCE is the magic word, both when it comes to making a COMPLETE, BUG-FREE and POLISHED game and when going through the manual and searching for an answer yourself.

Sit back, relax, think about what you can accomplish in a reasonable amount of time and then start your thing. Don't rush it. Don't expect making an outstanding game within some weeks without even having a stable, profund scripting knowledge.

I've been a bit precipitous in the past too, starting quite big projects myself, only to realize that they do require a lot of time and work. I have started like 10 (mostly non-AGS-) games in the past and eventually cancelled all of them. But I didn't constantly bother people with it. Now I know what it takes and have the patience to go all the way through and finish something substantial. Having said that, at some point I really should have done a small game to start with  ;)

General Discussion / Re: RIP James Bulger

"Right" and "wrong" are just some words without any meaning. If someone is cruel to another person, (s)he must have some serious problems and is definitely very unhappy. Or (s)he thinks that for some brainless reason (s)he does the right thing (like soldiers). No happy person will ever kill or hurt anybody.

It doesn't make the incident less tragic or something, but it's stupid to pick on the kids and call them monsters. "It's a perfectly human reaction to a very inhuman crime." is a stupid statement too. The crime is, of course, as human as the reaction to it. There's no good or evil, there's just things that happen and they have their reasons. I agree it's hard to believe that thoise kids did such a thing, but it happened and it has a reason. Calling for vengeance doesn't make anything better as even more lives will be destroyed that way (if not already, as the two won't be too happy for their whol life I could imagine).

Having said that, I regret having read the story as it almost made me vomit myself. These are the things you can't forget (like the murder of Sharon Tate and such).

AGS Games in Production / Re: Arrival

This looks very interesting! I hope you'll finish it.

How serious will be this game in tone?

I was going to ask the same question.

Um... code?

I haven't finished it yet, but I really like it so far, you did a great job! Everything felt right so far, I like the graphics (perhaps the only thing that could be improved), the plot and the gameplay (well, everything except the pop-up inventory, but that's personal preference I guess).

Keep it up, Technocrat!

You can tell AGS exactly what color should be transparent:

Then I colored the part around her red and all that did was add a read "aura/outline" to her. Any help would be appreciated to make her solid once more.

That sounds like you didn't properly save the file (e.g. used a jpg or some other stupid format) or that you used a smooth brush and didn't fill the area in exactly one color.

I might have found a bug...

Don't get your hopes up, goldenunicorn hasn't logged in ever since he announced the game.

And since it wasn't made with AGS, this is just impudent spam and should get locked.

You need to use [hide ] [/hide ] tags - without the spaces. You can always temporarily quote other people's posts to see how the formatting is done.

No matter how I look at it, I just can't understand what the stuff in the lower left corner are. I think it would need some work. I mean the other part of the scene is clear, I can from a 3D image in my head immediadly, but the lower left corner just baffles me.

Seconded. That bothered me right from the beginning.

The Rumpus Room / Re: Cheesy subtitle for AGS

Side effects are rare but may include sudden bursts of workaholism.

Code: ags

    if (cEgo.Room == 4)
    {cChar3.ChangeRoom(4, 607, 465);
    cChar3.Walk(407, 358, eNoBlock, eAnywhere);

This is constantly (40 times a second) telling Char3 to change the room and walk. That should definitely cause problems, I wonder why he even moves. Use a variable or the Game.DoOnceOnly function to let it only happen once.

Your new version is quite nice, Baron. I really like to see this with animation. You should post that in the crits lounge too!
