Maverick, I'm really sorry if I'm holding back the progress of The Trinity. If there's anyone who can help with animation, I would be happy to provide keyframes. It's the in-between frames that gets me stumped.

Just send me the keyframes (starting positions) for all the walk cycles and I'll give it a shot. I sent you a PM on this so let me know.

Rules:

A sprite is supplied, with a theme.
Participants must use the given sprite for their animation
Each competition will last 14 days
The starter of each competition will decide on the winner.
The winner, who will decide on the next competition's theme, must also supply a sprite.

What happens next? (This is an egg btw).
I know this may seem lame but it leaves a lot of room for everyone to be as creative as possible.




Trophies are ready. Sorry about the poor attempt at a facehugger but I didn't have much time to do it in. Only first place is sort of animated but you are welcome to animate your own trophy if you so wish.
   

Looking good, Mav! But why this screenshot is a higher resolution than the other ones?
Is auriond doing backgrounds as well, or are those by you? Either way they look great, some of them almost have a 3D-like quality to them. 

I'm doing all the backgrounds myself. The problem is that my work is improving (my opinion) all the time which means that I have to redo a lot of the stuff as I go along. For every background I finish I have to go back and polish up the previous ones to make sure they match the quality of my latest work (one step forward and two back kind of thing). By the time I'm done with the 140 backgrounds needed I could probably have done 500.

Music
As I don't have a musical bone in my body I'll leave this in your hands.

Afflict
This is a great module but it doesn't work for detailed high res characters. I've been working on my animation skills to see if I can do these animations myself but I need someone to do the first frames of each character (walk forward,back,left,diagonal). Auriond is way too busy with work and her own project to assist at this point so I'm back to square one as far as the characters are concerned. Maybe if I hint enough Buloght will come and rescue me.

Thank you for the great theme. Like I said previously, this was a difficult one but on the other hand created a platform for people to stretch their abilities.

I'll start the next comp in a few days.

I use Photoshop CS2 and ImageReady.

Shoo looks like I made it just in time. I update my previous attempt with my final (Ihope) entry. This was a serious challenge and took me all off 27 hours to make (396 frames total).

This one poses quite a challenge and from all the competitions I've seen so far this would be the most difficult theme. I think it is very positive that someone is trying to raise the standard to get the competition back to the level where it started out. Although participation has been rather low lately this type of challenge may just be what the doctor ordered to nudge the Masters of the past into showing there skills at manipulating pixels.

I think I'm out of my league on this one but I'll reserve this space anyway

I'm not and expert at animation myself but I think we can all learn from Afflict's post above.

Congrats to all and thanks for entering. Let's see if we can raise the stakes for the next round.

First post updated just to show that there has been some progress albeit very little. Here is a screenshot of a background I finished today.

This is Cuttle. When it comes to being cute she doesn't have to stand back to her more famous cousin Squirt. At 56 she's just a teenager but last night's birthday party has left her a little tired and slow to get out of the blocks.
