DISCLAIMER: I do not look like this

Holy shit!

My mother is mourning the fact that I'm moving to Brighton on Monday. Already. So she made a desktop background from a picture of me.

So I'm going to post this picture and pretend that I ALWAYS look like this, and that it's an accurate representation of how I actually look.

Also, have this:

Here's a recent picture of me:

Pravda reports:

QuoteOn average a man spends 27 seconds to take off a bra using his both hands. This is incredible but some men participating in an experiment spent 20 minutes taking off bras! An incident that occurred to a 27-year-old man suggested researchers the idea of conducting the experiment. The man broke his finger and got copulas seriously hurt when attempting to take a bra off his woman.

Apparently it resembled a mountain climbing accident.

General Discussion / Problems with DS wifi...
Fri 13/01/2006 00:07:44
Maybe somebody here can help...

I'm staying in a hotel at the moment, and I have been informed it has wifi. For some reason though, I can't connect to it!

First I go to wifi settings in Animal CRossing, and it automatically detects the connection point. Since there's a little blue lock logo, I believed this meant I didn't need a password? However, when I tried to connect to it, my DS froze and had to be restarted (it didn't give an error message or anything).

I tried entering the username and password manually that I got from the hotel dudes. I get 'error 51100', but at least it doesn't freeze...

Any idea what the problem could be? Any of you had a similar problem?

Hey all,

Andail mentioned he was coming to Brighton and whatnot, but I don't think I got back to him in time to leave my contact details. He should already be here or something, and I thought it might be nice to show him around tomorrow. Do any of you have his phone number so that you could pass my number on to him? Or something.

And so that I can stalk him and rape him and do things that people from the internet generally do.

General Discussion / Favourite Songs of 2005
Thu 05/01/2006 17:01:31
I don't mean 'what were your favourite songs that were released in 2005'. I mean, what songs make you look back on that year, on the bad things and the good things. What songs make you remember how the summer smelled, or how you felt the first time you met somebody? Please try to not mention Westlife and Girls Aloud... if their songs are part of the anthem of your life, you're probably better off dead.

Mine would be:

Sweet Song by Blur
Wild Horses by Rolling Stones
Sway by Bic Runga
Across the Sea by Weezer
Oh Yeah by Ash
Dare by Gorillaz
Feel Good Inc. by Gorillaz
Park Life (entire album) by Blur

The first four are your average love song things that remind me of my boyfriend. The last three remind me of the summer I spent working in Brighton. I'd listen to those songs every day as I walked to work. Oh Yeah was particularly awesome since the lyrics were relevant :)

On warm June evenings
She would come to my house
Still in her school skirt
And her summer blouse
Talking too long as the night came on
It was the best time of my life
Her bee stung lips,
Kisses sweeter than wine
The things she whispered
With breathless sighs
The summer air was soft and warm
Her eyes were making silent demands
And as her hair came undone in my hands

Oh Yeah she was taking me over
Oh Yeah it was the start of the summer

Driving her home after midnight
I felt so good everything was alright
Her thoughts seemed so lost in the night sky
I remember everything
I don't know why these things ever end
I sometimes wish it was that summer again
I still see her in my sleep
And hear the sighing of the summer wind
Still I don't regret one thing

During the summer it made me feel happy but now it makes me feel a little bit sad and lonely. :) :) :) :( :)

Obviously Park Life rules.

My boyfriend had scaffolding around his house at the time, which ruled, because it meant that on the weekends (when the builders were gone) you could climb out of the window and sun yourself on a little scaffolding balcony. Dare reminds me of sitting on that balcony with him and some friends, and literally not being able to move for the heat. I couldn't even reach for my G&T. It also reminds me of walking to work every morning... sometimes in searing heat, sweating up the massive fucking hill, and sometimes in the cold and rain.

They were the songs that rocked my world last year. What about you?

What annoys you about the Games Industry these days? Anything you want to whine about? I'm interested to know what you think the flaws are in recent games etc.

For instance, I'm slightly irritated by the fact that all WWII games seem to have the same name AND the same grey/brown packaging...

Also I wanna see more designers being credited properly for their games. Authors and Directors and Musicians get their name on the cover, why shouldn't Game Designers?

Hello again my useful AGSers :)

I'm buying a digital camera for somebody's birthday. He uses it to take a lot of closeups of things to use in photoshop, plus at parties and of course ordinary picture taking, It needs to be small, preferably small enough that he can carry it around in his pocket, but not one of these ridiculously micro sized ones that seem to be floating about....

So, really it needs to be relatively small and excellent quality, with a good optical zoom. I'd rather it be in the e200 - e400 price range.... hey, if it's less than that, all the better! Also, a good brand name would be nice :)

Any recommendations?

It would be neat if you could get it in red, too :)

Hi guys,

Yesterday I returned from a week abroad and, when I turned on my PC, the monitor displayed a "no signal input" error. No matter what I did, it seemed that the monitor just would not realize the PC was on. Anyhoo, by sheer luck I happened to unplug the mouse. Somehow, the monitor went on. wtf?

It seems that, if my (serial) mouse is plugged in, the monitor won't work at all! However, there are no problems with my USB mouse. Furthermore, even when the mouse is unplugged, the screen  is entirely pink anyway (and slightly fuzzy, and I think it's getting worse).

If I turn on the PC with the mouse plugged into the serial port, and I press the OFF button, it instantly turns off. However, if I turn on the PC WITHOUT the mouse plugged in, it takes the ordinary five-seconds to shut down, leading me to believe this is a serious fuck up and not just the monitor failing or something...

I took a screenshot and sent it to somebody, they said the colours looked perfectly normal, so I assume this rules out the graphics card as part of the problem.

The monitor has an independent power source, the computer is about four or five years old... any ideas what's wrong? I think it may be time to buy a new PC....

General Discussion / UK animation courses
Sat 24/09/2005 20:49:36
Hey dudes!

Just wondering if any of you guys from the UK might know of some good animation courses AND Art Foundation courses over there? Preferably I don't want to be too far from Brighton since I'll be spending weekends there, but I guess it doesn't matter TOO much.

I want to study Traditional animation mostly, but I don't mind if the course has a mixture of 3D and traditional. Are any of you guys in good art unis at the moment?

Did anybody take the Art Foundation in Brighton? It's held in the City College of Brighton and Hove. Any good?

General Discussion / Looking for an art style
Fri 09/09/2005 16:59:14
Hey Dudes!

Does anybody remember that guy who made Ignac? He had this fantastic, fairytale, whimsical art style that I absolutely adored. Anyway, I'm looking for art styles that are similar as I'm doing a project, but I can't seem to find anything. I really want that whimsical feeling to it, and those nice storybook colours. I'm probably not even making sense.

Anyway, does anybody have any pictures or links to webpages with this kind of art style?

Thanks :)

Hi all,

I noticed recently that the forums are becoming unbearable to read. I do like most of the people here and value your opinions, maybe even like you. However, there're a lot of people, not even just newbies, who are making things really fucking juvenile and unpleasant.

Not mentioning any names, but for instance you might have a perfectly good thread and suddenly a few people will just start randomly going off topic and doing things like '*monkeypirate1919191 runs into a wall, gets up, runs off, omg lol!'. It's like some form of written slapstick comedy, and it's not funny. It's just annoying. It's not just that, there's a lot of generally stupid and pointless stuff.

Maybe the rest of you like that kind of thing, I don't know. But anyway, it's always good to discuss things. So let's discuss this. The level of intelligence is being dragged down.

General Discussion / At Work :(
Fri 27/05/2005 18:45:38
I'm at work and I'm reallllly bored. There are no customers in the store. I'm looking straight across at a display of video games. They're all war games. I've never seen so many war games in my life. They probably didn't have this much of a World War II theme going on during World War II.

Okay there IS actually one customer. She's been in here an hour. She keeps asking me trivial questions about things, and then repeating herself and her life story. I'm desperately trying to avoid her.

Why are there so many world war II games? It's making time pass slower. And they're all brown. WTF?

Critics' Lounge / A View To A Kill midi
Thu 31/03/2005 21:37:30
I really have no idea why I just wasted my time doing this, seeing as I have no intention of making a James Bond game, let alone one based on A View To A Kill. Even though it was a kickass movie and Christopher Walken rocks.

But if anybody else would like it, and since I don't think there's another one available on the entire interwebwork, feel free since otherwise it's quite literally just going to sit on my PC, never to be heard again.

Yeah, you can preorder Psychonauts at:

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/255677.asp

And it's being released April 19th.

I am super excited.

And the good news keeps on coming! Apparently, Steve Purcell gets the Sam n Max license back in May, and then Bad Brain plan to make Sam N Max 2... from scratch, sure, but still. They seem to have a lot of love for that game.

I got this really weird debate topic, and I'm kind of having trouble with it 'cause it's so vague. The topic is this;

Should police be held accountable for shooting people down in 'defence' or because they pose as a threat?

Should investigations take place into these shootings? Etc etc blah blah.

See? Where do I start? I mean, it's not even a police force of a particular country we're talking about; it's police IN GENERAL, ALL OVER THE WORLD. I guess I should mention Police Brutality and accidental shootings and stuff. What do you guys think on the subject?

See, the worst thing is, I have ONE NIGHT to write it all. It has to be a five minute friggin' speech and I have one night and no idea where to start. The reason I have so little time is because the girl that WAS doing it dropped out at the last minute and, since she hadn't done any work for it, left me with all this. So if you guys have anything to add, any useful links or ideas, or anything to discuss, do so. I am tired and confused and I have a cold. And I'm hungry.
