General Discussion / Seducing a Teacher

Yeah. So, let's say you were your average hot male teacher of 25 years old, surrounding by adoring 15-18 year olds every day. Not even just female.

How would you be seduced?

Recently, within the past couple of months, I've started doing this really weird, painful thing. It seems to be something I do when I'm waking up in the mornings. If I stretch my legs, or move them in a way that they don't like, I get this excrutiating pain that feels like a knotted muscle or something, that lasts a couple of seconds and then goes away. It feels like I'm badly pulling a muscle or something.

It really fucking hurts.

I'm not going to a doctor so he can touch my legs and then tell me there's nothing wrong, because that's what doctors always do to me.

Any AGSers out there doctors? I'd look up the symptoms on the net but I have no idea where to start. Like, 'Ow, my fucking LEGS hurt', didn't turn up any good google results.

General Discussion / Oakwood on the 17th
Sun 08/08/2004 01:29:51
Anybody going to be in or around Oakwood (The theme park in Wales, that is) on the 17th of August?

Wanna hang out? We can ride the scariest rides together and then discuss game design theory while eating greasy fries.

And then I can sell you PC insurance and stuff like that. It'll be great. Honest. I swear.

What are we going to do tonight? I asked. I'm evil. That could well be the answer.

The continuation of our species matters more than you can imagine. It is the single most important thing we can do. Don't do that, the cat pointed out. Don't do that, the cat pointed out. There were many examples of animals all around. I'm evil. eXVmc3RlckB5YWhvby5jb20=

General Discussion / Food Update

I'm eating a burger. It's alright, I guess. It's a vegetarian burger, with cheese and relish on it, between 'american style' baps.

I'm also eating potatoes and peas. There's no salt or butter on them. I think I just realized that potatoes and peas don't taste of much at all. They don't taste very nice.

Butter and salt, on the other hand, tastes like peas and potatoes usually do.

I'm kind of torn between drinking a glass of soda, or a mug of coffee.

The potatoes are still hard. I don't think they're cooked right.

I formatted my PC recently, and when I was reinstalling the drivers I discovered my Astraslim Scanner driver is kind of screwed up.

I searched for the driver on the internet, and I found something claiming to be the driver... and it probably was, except it was a 30mb file, so I suspect it was bundled with the Scanner Software. I don't want or need the scanner software, and as it's 30mb, it'd take friggin' ages to download on my dial up. What I really want is the driver alone.

So, if anybody can find it or if you happen to have it and can send it to me... here's the details.

UMAX Astraslim 1200 Scanner, XP driver

I know you guys can do pretty much anything, so...

Thanks to BigJKO for bringing this to my attention. In fact, because I am somewhat lazy, I'm just going to quote what he posted over at Idle Forums;

Ok, just thought I'd pass this along to you people.

RetroRemakes are holding a three-month comptetition to see who can make the best remake of a retro game of their choice. The rules will be announced in half an hour, and the prize money for first place is almost £900 and over 75 prices to be won.

So, if you're a programmer, stop by their site. And if you're not, you could still drop by and take a look at the devblogs going on from time to time, detailing the creation of these remakes. Maybe you'll spot a favorite of yours being remade.

There. Awesome!

Finally, after three days of being stuck, I resorted to a walkthrough. Turns out, something's not right in the land of... Discworld.

Spoiler

Apparently, the reason I'm stuck is that I have to pick up some perfume. In saphires room, I turn into a wolf, collect and match the smells, and then turn to Lewton. Supposedly I should be able to pick up a perfume bottle from Saphires desk, but all I see is "cosmetics" which Lewton won't pick up.

I seem to have done everything else, and I'm just waiting for this one bottle of perfume which I can't find. Whuh???
[close]

Now I must go and hurt myself.

EDIT: Whoops. Spoiler tags!

This has probably been asked before, but....

How difficult would it be to incorporate the ability to use 3D... I think the word is 'realtime'... characters into the next version of AGS?

And is there a possibility it will ever be available in AGS?

I think it would be nifty. Maybe it would be horribly hard to implement, though. Or something. I don't know.

General Discussion / 3 Dimensional Printing.
Wed 19/05/2004 14:14:18
I was flicking through 3D World magazine when I saw something about 3D printing. However, I was in a hurry, so I had to look it up on the internet later.

http://www.zcorp.com/

From what I understand, you can actually print a 3D figure from your 3D model that you have designed/textured in a modelling program such as Blender or 3Dsmax. From what I understand of what I read in the magazine, it is quite cheap at £20 per figurine. Fine details such as eyelashes aren't printed, but for a relatively new technology, the end results are pretty damn good.

Imagine being able to present your game concept to a publisher, and being able to show them the protagonists, and let them hold them in their hands. Imagine even us AGS users being able to have 3D figurines of our own, designed characters on the desks in front of us! It's completely affordable, even to a home user.

I thought this was particularly cool because I for one would love to use this service.

I'm sure it could be used for things such as printing rooms designed in 3D. You could have your concept art right there in front of you. Awesome.

A WACOM!!!

Our birthdays are on the same day of the same month.

He got a Wacom.

I wanted a wacom so very, very badly.

Fate clearly mixed up our birthdays.

Screw you, fate!

Happy Birthday, Releasethefrogs!!!

A DIGITAL CAMERA!!!!

I know what you are thinking. You are thinking, "But why?"

Because I love cameras! I love taking pictures! I always have! Although I haven't had a camera to take pictures WITH, because I wasn't interested in cameras and never took pictures. Then I took photograph classes and I hated photograph and kept telling my mom about how crap photography was. Then, when I got back from the tour, my mom asked why I had so few photos and I said, "I hate photos."

But secretly, underneath it all, I obviously love cameras, and my mother knew this, and knew it was a relevant present for me that I'd use for the rest of my life. How she knew? I do not know.

But best of all, this camera is nearly the same price as a small wacom, and they sit next to each other, side by side, like brothers, on the shelf of PC WORLD. Although I have wanted a wacom since the beginning of Wacom Time, I guess my mother knew that I would prefer, and get more use out of a camera. And I was going to be so much more delighted when I found out that it was a camera, and not a wacom, that she dropped hints that it was a wacom. Like, "It's pen shaped!" and "It's going to help your artistic ability!" and "You're not even going to want to go in to school when you get it, so I'll give it to you in the evening." And then, later on, "It's triangular!" which was a lie.

Thank you, mom. Thank you for this wonderful, horribly expensive, yet incredibly thoughtful present. You keep coming in to the room to see if I'm using it yet. Remember when I first saw it, and my grin sort of froze on my face in delight? I turned it on to see if a pen fell out, or whether it unfolded into a flat, wacom like surface? And when the memory card fell onto the floor, I picked it up and scratched it on the camera to see if it was some sort of disguised pen? After that, I pressed the record button by mistake, and it wouldn't stop recording, so I put it away and left it on the far end of the table, and quietly started my concept art for Luna using a pencil and some paper. I'm not sure if I want to record anything because I already have a webcam to do that with, except the webcam also has a microphone. And we already have hordes of cameras lying about the house not being used because I don't like cameras. But I'm going to go outside in the rain and find something to take a photograph of, later, when it stops raining. If it stops raining. Maybe I'll take some pictures of a wacom! That's the best part about a camera instead of a wacom. With a wacom, you only own a wacom. but with a CAMERA, you can own a camera AND PICTURES of a wacom!

Thanks again. This horribly, horribly expensive present is the best present ever, and I don't know how I can word my delight because it's horribly expensive.

I have to go now, because I have to draw concept art. I was putting off the concept art until my birthday because I was going to use my new wacom to draw it. But you got this, instead! And I am delighted. So delighted. And I am delighted for YOU, because it was not a waste of your money.

However, I think people should stop buying 'surprise' birthday gifts and start fucking consulting the people they're buying them for. Just in case they one day don't get the right present, but they spend lots of money on it anyway, and the person getting the present has no use for it whatsoever but they have to pretend to like it because it's horribly expensive and they might seem ungrateful. All it would take is a simple question to save this awkward predicament.

I hate surprises.

Goddamnit! When I was routinely sending out viruses to people the other day, I accidently sent one to my OTHER mail address!

"Unusual," said I, opening the email, "I must be trying to remind myself of something."

"READ!!! FUNNY!!! use pasword to on zip11!" The e-mail read. Below were two attachments.

"Odd! I never recall sending myself an attachment!" I said.

I scanned the attachment. It was a virus!

"Man. I must really hate myself!" I said.

There is a three hour period yesterday where I cannot recall any of my actions. I sent myself a virus; if I sent one to you too, don't open it! I must have been drugged up because I usually don't spell like a friendly wealthy nigerian heir.

Even if I try to tell you it's funny!

I feel so bad for that poor guy. I didn't even realize what was about to happen to him when I looked at that picture.

I just went to view the video excerpt but I couldn't.

I really wish people could just forget their religions and their politics and their oil and their grudges, and just get on. I mean, when it comes down to it, we're all people. We're not black people, white people, chinese people. We're not muslims, islamics, christians, athiests. We're people, and we're only those things because we've been brought up to believe we were.

Why do people keep doing this to each other?

So sad.

General Discussion / 3D Studio Max Tutorials?
Tue 11/05/2004 15:38:01
Hi,

I just acquired a copy of 3D studio Max. Awesome!!!

However, most of the tutorials I can find on the net for 3DSM are for intermediate users. I'm a complete beginner. I also can't download big Video Tutorials as my internet connection is pitifully slow.

Does anybody know where I can get good beginners tutorials?

Announcements for today.

Congratulations to the Junior A Kimogi team, who competed in the all ireland finals on saturday.

Messages at reception for Sarah-Anne Kinsella and Jenny Duggan.

Also; a blue wallet was found missing from the 4A room on Friday Evening. It has money and some drugs in it. We took the drugs, but the money is still there. If you own the money, and drugs, and the wallet, won't you come to reception to reclaim it? You left your name on a little flap inside the wallet; we know who you are. We are not calling your bluff.

The SASSER worm is the newest annoyance on the world wide web of computers and criminals. Just wondering if anybody knew how to remove it manually. I only have AVG virus thingy, and it doesn't seem to help even though I got the latest update. And for other remedies I apparently need to buy their goddamn virus software. Which I can't afford.

Also; how the hell do you uninstall goddamn McAffee?
