General Discussion / Monkey Island 2 palette
Sun 19/08/2007 14:54:39
Just wondering... is it possible to get the Monkey Island 2 palette from somewhere? I tried using Scumm revisited to grab it from the game but it seems there's an individual palette for each room or something.

anybody have that palette?

General Discussion / My Plan for Paedophiles
Mon 06/08/2007 20:47:24
I was just reading in the news about how one of the suspects in that Madeleine Mcann case is this known paedophile who is suspected to have kidnapped and probably killed another young girl last week... something like that... I only skimmed over it...

Made me think though,

What about Google Paedos, eh? It would be like Google Maps, but with paedophiles. Imagine that all Paedophiles had a chip implanted in their brain, so that it could never be removed unless they beheaded themselves. These chips are tracked using Satellites or whatever, so you can go to paedos.google.com and check to see whether there are any paedos in your area.

This works for so many reasons.

I mean, firstly... if there are any potential murderers/psychos out there, they can kill paedophiles and be a hero, instead of killing ordinary people and being ordinary psychos.

Secondly, you can google for paedos in your area! Imagine if this service had existed for the McCanns, they could have googled for paedos!

Also, people who are sexually attracted to children under the age of 12 should immediately be castrated.

I say 12, because unfortunately most men I know would fancy a 14+ year old girl... since I don't want all men to be castrated, we'll have to play it safe... go with 12... the mockery that men get for fancying underage girls should do for anyone 14 or older... as for the grey area inbetween 12 and 14... well... I dunno... Maybe you should get put on google paedos until the object of your disgusting obsession reaches maturity or something... I dunno... hmm.... I wish I was in charge of the world...

I'm not asking for advice for once. I'm actually posting this up in case any of you guys are interested in losing weight.

I've put on a bit of weight the past few years. I'm not overweight (far from it at 5''9 and 130lbs), but I don't like the way what fat I do have is distributed across my body (some people are lucky and get weight gain in their hips and breasts, I get it in my face, arms etc…). I also want to make sure I keep my weight in check, and that it doesn't slowly creep into fatness as I get older...

I didn't really know how to diet correctly and healthily, and when I did attempt to diet, my lack of knowledge would ultimately end in failure. My ‘diets' would last a week, then I'd give up because there was no sign of weight loss, and the weight would go back on… and then some.

I finally buckled down and did a little bit of research and it's all paid off. It's not even hard, it just required a little knowledge of how the human body works, and a couple of really useful internet tools.

I know that there are probably many AGSers out there who want to lose weight, so I thought I'd share this knowledge with you. So, here goes.

The first thing you should do is check out you BMI or Body Mass Index.

http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

Input your weight and height and the calculator will tell you your BMI. Hopefully it should be in the healthy range. You can use this to help you assess your goal weight.

Once you've assessed you goal weight, go to this website:

www.calorie-count.com

It's free to sign up and use, and very, very useful! You can record what food you've eaten for each day. It has the nutritional information of pretty much every food available, so when you record what foods you've eaten, it will total up the amount of fat and calories you've had for the day. It will also give you an overall nutritional grade.

It's more useful than that though. It helps you to set a goal weight within a realistic time, for a start! It also shows you your weight loss using a graph, which is very, very encouraging. It's not always easy to see the weight as you are slowly losing it day by day, so it's very reassuring to see a steady loss on your graph.

As for a diet, I've found one that is easy to stick by, fairly healthy, and works. It's called the Cleaveland Clinic Diet:

http://diet-plans.featherish.com/diet-plans/cleveland-clinic-diet/cleveland-clinic-diet.html

The idea of the diet is that for three/four days a week you follow the diet, and then eat normally for the other days (although obviously don't overdo it with loads of junk food and soda). It works (apparently) using a chemical breakdown thingy... who knows, or cares. The point is, it worked for me, and for my two friends. The best bit is that it's only three days a week, which makes it managable even for people who usually can't take a diet for more than a week!

With this combination of tools, dieting couldn't really be much easier... all the tools you need to help you stay inspired to lose weight are right there. Obviously, there's the usual basic advice... take some exercise, drink lots of water and stay healthy. Try and do that too. I've lost 30lbs since May, and I haven't been trying hard at all...

If anyone wants more info, feel free message me or something. Hopefully some of you will find these resources useful.

General Discussion / Terrorists...
Sat 14/07/2007 14:17:05
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6264230.stm

I understand that, despite there being no good excuse to take the lives of innocent people... there is a reason behind terrorist attacks.

However small or silly the reason may sound to you or I, anybody who gives up their life and intends to hurt and destroy the lives of others, has a reason. Even if it's a bloody rubbish one.

Now here's what I don't get.

Why would middle-class, well-educated, well-paid doctors choose to do this?

It's arrogant to assume that just because someone is well-educated or middle-class etc., that they would be less likely to be insane or to hurt someone.

But they certainly see a slightly better side of the UK than some of us who have to scrimp and save to get by and pull our hair out at the end of every month when the bills come through.

And you become a doctor to help people, to save people.

Not to blow up innocent men, women and children.

Why would they bother going through medical training, going through student doctor years (which are extremely hard years and require a lot of attention and study), just to throw it all away by trying to kill people that have never done you any harm?

What's going on here, eh?

After reading a lot of those cases on the link I gave, I find it hard to believe that most of those people mentioned are terrorists. Their lives are clean, and good, and happy. They have young children, loving families, good careers. I'm almost inclined to believe that the police have it wrong and that most of these men are innocent... but of course, that's unlikely...

Anybody got a paid account on Genes Reunited...? ¬¬

Only I may have found my half sister on there, but unfortunately the site requires you to register and pay before you can actually get confirmation that that IS the right person.

So I was thinking maybe I could hijack someone elses account...

But if it looks okay then I'll get my haired dyed on the way home from work because I feel semi-impulsive today.

Blonde Red Black... all colours. GO go go my artistic minions. I know you can do it.

I'm the one in the green.

General Discussion / Church of Scientology II
Sat 09/06/2007 12:23:43
Alright then let's try again.

Are there any Church of Scientology members out there who want to share a bit of their faith with us? I'm very interested. I'm not going to pretend I think good things about your church at the moment, but I accept that the only things I have heard about it come from biased media sources. I would actually like to hear the opinion of some real person who actually is a member of Scientology, because I'm not the type of person who likes to spout back everything they hear on TV like it's fact.

I've often wanted to go into my local Church of Scientology to see what it's all about (I don't think I have any intention of becoming a Scientologist but I'm interested in peoples religions), but from what I've heard on TV and in the news, it could be a "dangerous" thing to do. Because apparently Scientologists stalk you and murder you and stuff. Okay that's an exaggeration but you get the idea - everyone hates Scientologists without a lot of real knowledge about the religion, just going by what they've heard from other people.

So I just want to hear what actual real Scientologists have to say.

Not a bunch of people saying how shit Scientology is, because everyone does that all the time anyway.

It was only afterwards that I realised they're soon going to be famous because of their excellent, excellent music! There I was just thinking those guys were just ordinay, very friendly, very cool fellow co-workers! SCORE! Now I can spend the rest of your life living off the back of their fame, as a SOCIALITE!!!

Anyway yeah. They're also on Myspace:

Maybe you guys can help, because I need a bit of info but I'm not really sure to get it… maybe you have similar experiences etc…

I'll keep it short…

My dad was very violent, very abusive towards his children and to my mother. He never had a job… my mum was the breadwinner of the household. He had constant mood-swings and would hit my mother for the stupidest of reasons, including if he had a bad dream about her. He always let us down in various ways, got drunk a lot, got us into a lot of debt, cheated on my mum, went out drinking/taking drugs every night… would never let my mum go out or even learn to drive…

I have four sisters and two brothers.

My sisters and one of my brothers, live with my mum. They love her, all is well.

My older brother, who is 23, has some kind of weird grudge against my mother though. And I don't know why. He loves his father and defends him as being a great man, even though he's clearly not. He also copies everything my dad says about my mum… my dad is paranoid and convinced that my mum is sleeping around (she's clearly not) and that she wears “slutty clothes” (again, that's so ridiculous… we can all see what she wears… she wears NORMAL CLOTHES.)

When my older brother heard him say these things, he immediately copied them and accused her of the same thing.

My mother hardly ever drinks as she has so much work to do all the time… once however, I bought her a bottle of wine for her birthday. We shared it together, but my dad got offended that we didn't offer him any. He accused her of being a drunkard, and ever since, my brother has accused her of the same…

I don't understand why he defends my dad, and hates my mother… when it's so clear to ANYBODY ELSE that my dad is pretty worthless and a classic stereotypical wife-beater, and my mum is actually a smart, pleasant woman…

But the worst thing is, he feels the need to try and “convert” me and my siblings. I haven't had a conversation with my brother in five years that hasn't been 80% about him talking about what a “disgrace” my mother is. It's got to the point where none of his sisters or our brother hang out with him any more, because that's all he talks about ever. In five years. How much he hates his mum… mostly for made-up reasons!

If I ever try to ask him to stop, or try not to involve myself in his rants, he ends up grabbing my wrists so I can't walk away, and talking loudly over me until I give up. All so he can tell me that he thinks my mother shouldn't be studying science in university, because it's a slutty subject to study. Or something. I don't know, he makes up the stupidest shit...

So here's the reason I need help… what the hell is going on?! Why can't he let go of his imaginary problems after FIVE YEARS? Why is he so obsessed with talking about her all the time? Why does he defend his dad who really is a worthless person? Why does he make excuses for his dad having beaten our mum up so badly (saying things like "she winds him up, if she was REALLY afraid of him then she wouldn't wind him up all the time would she?")

I'm confused. Is there some kind of mental condition this can be attributed to!?

General Discussion / Madeleine McCann
Thu 10/05/2007 11:13:32
New leads, yay... hopefully these will turn out to be fruitful:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/6641899.stm

This story is really saddening me...

Child abductions are awfully sad... and terrifying... the thought of anybody ever taking away one of my little babies just fills me with dread...

What angers me too, is that people feel justified in kidnapping and abusing children... and then murdering them. The very least they could do is let the child go. Why does it always end with murder?

How cruel and selfish these people are... they should be tortured for the rest of their days. Seriously, if that little girl is murdered, then the killer should tortured and ever-so-slowly killed, not before being raped in the ass of course. By dogs.

Anyway... I'm following this story closely. I still have a lot of hope that Madeleine is still alive...
