Crappy? think yourself lucky, in OUR school we have a guitar with broken strings and a keyboard that doesn't work any more! I'd love to have access to those facilities :(

I'm dying to play this, can somebody give me an alternate link or send it to me or something? Because the link doesn't work :(

It's the horse isn't it?  ;D I put those teeth on him to make him look obnoxious as though he'd just charged through the wall, but it just looks like that Weirdass DOTT horse :) :) :)

You sounded like you had constipation the whole way through. And you were too close to the mic. And it was dire. So I guess it's pretty much like a boyband song. On the other hand, boyband songs tend to be about love or something rather than Pooh Pain.

Ha Ha Ha!!!! Ronan Keating - If Tomorrow Never Comes was the DIREST OF ALL DIRE SONGS... In his video where he's falling in slow motion in front of the car, singing...... CREEPY.

I can't quite remember, but wasn't that a problem in MI1? Guybrush moved really fast when he moved further from the screen... or maybe he moved at the same speed and the size/distance wasn't relative so it LOOKED faster? Can anybody remember?

You have to pay for Sludge? If I'd have known that, this post wouldn't even exist.

...Hang on, I HAVE sludge already. And... uh oh. :D :D :D

AGS does sound the better engine and the fact it has a larger community says to me that it is the preferred engine. I did meet a few people with convincing arguments for Sludge but on the whole AGS has more going for it, it would seem.

Thanks spacefart, that was a great answer BTW. Okay AGS it is. I sort of suspected that anyway :) Thanks everybody.

Expect me to ask annoying scripting questions for the next 6 months approx.

I've been making games for years in RPGmaker, making my own sprites, backgrounds, music etc., and only recently discovered the AGS community. Maybe 7 months ago :) or so

Anyway, I'm going to learn to use AGS or Sludge, and as it's going to take some time to learn it I'd rather know I'm making the right choice. Could somebody, without much prejudice for either engine, please describe the pros and cons of both? Although I'm taking it that most of you here prefer AGS :) You never know. Sometimes the underdog is the champion, or something.

They look pretty sharp to me... would like to step on one by accident... he he he imagine climbing to the top, and impaling yourself on it.

Er, I mean, it's a cartoony style so I think it fits in nicely :)

I guess the moral of this story is, the pencil is mighter than the rubber, and the sharpener is just a coward :/

Interesting observation, 12431...

I'd just draw a few points on the handle, in perspective of the blade...

*whips out MS paint*

La di da da da....

Okay that sucked. But I'm trying to emphasise the handle, which also sucks. Okay that was a 2 second drawing. Just leave me alone. Okay but the shading and stuff, you get the point. Oh jesus.

I'm not sure, maybe it's a dodgy camera angle but... those dogs ESP the one looking at her.... don't look like they're on the ground. Make sure to put cars! Everybody loves cars. Then the dogs can jump on them and BEND THE ROOF. I've always wanted to bend the roof of a car. So yeah. Weight, Mass and Cars.

Fantastic! What program did you use? It's sweet. All I could suggest is the lighting maybe could be a bit more dramatic, the grass and bushes are pretty much the same colour and it makes it look a little dull.

I'm not worried about people stealing it. James just does that. As for the blue and red, there's a reason... The owners of the house are morons. Okay I made that up. But it's a pretty good reason. Maybe they are. We don't know that every time we create a game, an alternate dimension doesn't open spontaneously create a bigger, more complex version of that game. Maybe I painted it a different colour and the Other Dimensional Owners repainted it and I thought I'd painted it that colour because I'm to young to be senile.

Just a thought.  ;D

As for the psychonauts pictures, I'm gonna burn the goddamn thing.

Wooowwwwwwwwwwww....

All I would say is maybe put some stuff on those pages on the billboard, that's all I can think of really. It's absolutely proffesional.

I agree that the perspective is off. Also, the room is quite large and has very few objects or variation... you can view the entire room in one glance. What usually helps me is to look up and see what's around me. No room (hopefully) Has blank walls and perfect corners. Instead, add little pieces like poster, tears in the wallpaper, stains on the carpet, overturned cups, broken stuff, trainers, coke bottles, a guitar, curtains, a window, headphones, air vent, mirror... (I like my room).... depending on what the room is supposed to be. It'll make it more interesting to look at and add depth to your game.

Also try bringing the furthest wall nearer to the 'player' to give the room a smaller feel (And also so you have to put less stuff in it to make it look full :) )

Otherwise, great picture and all the above is in my unproffesional and probably bad opinion, so don't listen to me!  ;D

TY :) The painting was something I put there because I'm in love with Doublefine and Psychonauts, I did intend to make it more pixel-y but I never got around to it. I think I'll have to change it completely because the colours stand out way too much anyway :) As for the shadows... well, it seemed logical at the time, but now it just looks silly  ::)

.....Or does it???

I think maybe if the light was at the right angle it could do that, say if it was at an angle facing the horse. On the other hand, the light is clearly coming from a completely different angle. In fact, that entire shadow shouldn't be there, but I don't think anybody will notice....

EDIT: Now I have mentioned it, they will notice  :-\

Hoooo boy that is SWEET. I love that artwork. I might just eat my own hands it's so good.

Oh boy, I just wet myself. It's THAT good.

Anyway...

Yeah I just tried the shadow thing, you can't bend shadows around walls. Oh well. As for the psychonauts thing, yeah, that needs changing alright. Also I'm gonna put a few more things around the hall to make it look a bit ...untidier.

Rats, and I was so sure I'd seen shadows turn corners before  ;D

Hints & Tips / Re:Exile... :(

Okay I don't know how I did it to be honest but I got past and then got ridiculously stuck AGAIN. I know puzzles should be hard but I think it's just one after the other too hard in this game.

Here's two possible ways I got past her:

1. I rolled the first apple, went to the tree and got a second and rolled that. That seemed to mess with her head.

2. I rolled the apple while she was standing RIGHT OVER THE OTHER SIDE, and stood either (a) perfectly still or (b) stood in the shadows of the trees.

I have no idea how I did it, but I spent ages at it, only to walk up the damn stairs and be STUCK again.
