Well I'm in Pisa right now and I'm glad to say that Italy is still here.

It might also be smart to exchange mobile phone numbers for those last minute panicky moments (or for when one of us gets lost : ). Any ideas on how to share these without the interwebs harvesting our numbers?

This is probably the worst possible time for me to announce this (given Mark's post) but it's looking like I won't be able to make it this year   Something has come up (not with me, but I'm caught up in it) and I need to be here.  There is a [very small] chance that I'll still be able to make it so I'm not canceling any of my ticket/reservations (and don't need/want a refund or anything) because if the time comes, and I'm able, I'm getting on that plane.

To those that are saddened (I'm sure there's one or two) I am sorry.  I was really [REALLY] anticipating this year's Mittens

Second that - if there's any seat left I'd like to apply for a seat as well ... either from Firenze or Arezzo (or any other place in the general area).

Yeah - I'd have the same question. I'm actually going to be in Italy a week early (to see some of the sights) but getting to the villa is going to be ... interesting.

The Team Challenge competitions usually start off pretty promising, with lots of good intentions and optimistic plans, but then the teams drop off one after another, falling victims of all the inherent illnesses that come with group projects.

I find that to happen in all projects where you don't pay the people. I guess there's a reason why FoY takes like forever whereas Dave Gilberts games have a reliable deadline

I'd like to make a little sidenote here: "projects where you don't pay people" makes some group efforts sound like team members are being extorted. For FoY this is simply not true: as it is a fan game based on copyrighted IP there's simply no viable way to turn it into a commercial project.
